Yup. I was there that day, he was threatening individuals he saw walking alone/had a weapon/wanted to break into professor's offices and was making people feel uncomfortable by stalking them.
just voicing my opinion. Its known that london cops are the rejects of the police force. So instead of giving these guys a few days off work for punishment, give them some jail time. I just seen an update on the news. This kid is sueing. he said he wasnt in a mentally stable state that day because he was recovering from H1N1 flu. He walked into a room and simply told somebody to get out of the room. The person left the room, but then the police came and took him down. He didnt lift a finger that day.

Anybody can hurt or injure someone else. The trick is actually controlling the suspect without hurting him unnecessarily. That is why cops need to be several on any person; to prevent that person from being hurt.

I read in the Gazette (school paper) today that one of the cops kneed him in the butt 4 times (which you can see in the video), and another hit him on the shoulder a lot. The others just seem to be holding him down and trying to get his arm down. And they did try to pepper spray him first (you don't see this in the video), but it didn't work because he was having a psychotic episode.
unless you are blind you can clerly see the cops throwing knees into the suspect as hard as they can and also hitting him repeatedly with flashlights while minimal movement from the suspect is shown.

...and I have seen situations where it has taken eight to ten officers and the use of a police dog to take down a suspect and even then it was still a struggle! Listen...the techniques and verbal direction that these officers were using are all tactics that they are trained to use when dealing with violent suspects. The knee strikes, the hand strikes to the shoulder, they are all allowed in use of force situations. And if anyone has been in a use of force situation then you should know that restraining someone that doesn't want to be is one of the hardest things that you can do. Adrenaline and mental psychosis are dangerous things.
You can clearly see that the guy, despite being forced to the ground is still trying to prop himself up on one arm, instead of lying flat. He's clearly resisting. Many people that are experiencing a drug induced psychosis can exhibit bizarre feats of strength coupled with poor judgment. This case it was kind of hard to tell, however there are a plethora of cases where police use incredible amounts of force to detain somebody. The most recent example being the police who shot the guys dogs, traumatized his kids and arrested him over a misdemeanor. If this is "society" it is flawed and quite horrible.

We need more information on this incident . Perhaps the details that should have been forthcoming from the beginning , instead of "more is better" as stated at the press conference will give the answers needed . it seems excessive - it didn't look like he was "resisting" and it felt as though the police officer kept randomly yelling "Stop resisting!" to justify the knee, and punching. One officer delivered more than a dozen punches in quick succession. I don't really think that the context is important, the force was excessive. It is a disturbing video and disturbing that people find the force appropriate.
Maybe I have bad eyes, but it's really too far away and there are too many bodies crowded in a small area to really be able to tell what's going on. He could be moving a lot, but we can't see it because he's being blocked by officers. If he's not giving them his hands to get cuffs put on them, that counts as resisting arrest.

I've seen a guy fight outside of a club, this dude fought 6 guys at once and he wrecked all 6 of them. Then 3 cops came, they mannaged to overpower him, quickly and very efficient, without punching or kicking him or jumping on top of him. They were trained, they knew how to contain a man, even one as powerfull and dangerous as that guy was

But even he didn't need to get punched by the police, and he wasn't complying at all. The cops had him contained in no time, without punching or kicking him, no screaming, no jumping on top of the dude, so I still think these American cops in the vid are stupid assholes. i have absolutely no idea what happened before this or what the guy was doing or anything.. and yes, i know that refusing to allow the cops to handcuff you is resisting arrest... but i cant even count how many times he was hit in this video and he wasnt fighting back from what i could see.. the seven cops there should have been able to free his arm without assaulting him- and this is assault. cops should be trained in less violent techniques for situations like this.

I just seen an update on the news. This kid is sueing. he said he wasnt in a mentally stable state that day because he was recovering from H1N1 flu. He walked into a room and simply told somebody to get out of the room. The person left the room, but then the police came and took him down. He didnt lift a finger that day.

I read in the Gazette (school paper) today that one of the cops kneed him in the butt 4 times (which you can see in the video), and another hit him on the shoulder a lot. The others just seem to be holding him down and trying to get his arm down. And they did try to pepper spray him first (you don't see this in the video), but it didn't work because he was having a psychotic episode.

...and I have seen situations where it has taken eight to ten officers and the use of a police dog to take down a suspect and even then it was still a struggle! I have seen small women rip the shirts and vests right off officers and trash rooms with their bare hands. Everyone should keep their uneducated opinions and comments to themselves. Police officers exist in a completely different world than the ones that "regular" folks do. Give them some credit and be thankful that they are out there.

Listen...the techniques and verbal direction that these officers were using are all tactics that they are trained to use when dealing with violent suspects. The knee strikes, the hand strikes to the shoulder, they are all allowed in use of force situations. And if anyone has been in a use of force situation then you should know that restraining someone that doesn't want to be is one of the hardest things that you can do. Adrenaline and mental psychosis are dangerous things.

This case it was kind of hard to tell, however there are a plethora of cases where police use incredible amounts of force to detain somebody. The most recent example being the police who shot the guys dogs, traumatized his kids and arrested him over a misdemeanor. If this is "society" it is flawed and quite horrible.

We need more information on this incident . Perhaps the details that should have been forthcoming from the beginning , instead of "more is better" as stated at the press conference will give the answers needed . It shouldn't take a lawsuit to get answers to simple questions. Given that , I'm all for drastic action against anyone who poses a genuine and immediate threat to the life of students and staff. Glad we are further investigating. Look forward to hearing the truth.

false, he wasn't loaded, didnt have any drugs or alcohol on him, officers knew there was a mental issue and they handled it horribly, they made the suspect feel threatened and tried cornering him, rather then helping him. He didnt know who he was or where he was. Im a criminology student, this is not how you should handle these types of people.

it seems excessive - it didn't look like he was "resisting" and it felt as though the police officer kept randomly yelling "Stop resisting!" to justify the knee, and punching. One officer delivered more than a dozen punches in quick succession. I don't really think that the context is important, the force was excessive. It is a disturbing video and disturbing that people find the force appropriate.

Maybe I have bad eyes, but it's really too far away and there are too many bodies crowded in a small area to really be able to tell what's going on. He could be moving a lot, but we can't see it because he's being blocked by officers. If he's not giving them his hands to get cuffs put on them, that counts as resisting arrest.

FUCK THAT THEY DID. do you people not understand your rights as human beings? nobody deserves that kinda crap whether they started the conflict or not. 6 cops on one guy beating him ruthlessly? seems a bit like, "be scared of me and do what i say or i'll hurt you". seems to be the new order most people follow these "rules" in nowadays.
