@MapleBok No, she's correct. There's a dance called "Mairi's Wedding" (check the Nationals books). "Wilt Thou Go to the Barracks, Johnnie?" (or "The Barracks" for short) is a completely different dance, which is commonly danced to the tune "The Barren Rocks of Aden" and any other 2/4. Most choose either "Brown Haired Maiden" or "Mairi's Wedding" as their second tune, because they're an easy tune to play.
And good choreography. The arms could do with some work though... :-\
that is a good dance i have always wanted to do one of those but never got round to it :/ but thats really good! i love the tune mairi's wedding aswell but its a really hard song to dance to ! well done
For those not so familiar with Celtic things, It's written Mhairi and this is Highland dancing ("Scottish dancing" as a term generally refers to the country version) ;)
*grins* Hee, I have NO idea how I got it, but I've had this song on my ipod for a while. I'm a big fan of Celtic music, and this is one of my favorites. ^_^
I highland dance also, and I was surprised to see people dancing to this song, because another girl thats in my dance group usually sings this song at preformances. I've never seen it danced to before. Props to the dancers, they were great. (:
I have mountains of respect for people from cape bretan, their the people that gave us bruce guthro!!
Gawd that guys the best singer songwriter, hes just a really nice guy, best singer for runrig I think, thanks you guys!!
Its really finally cool though to see nice talent like this, I take this is from Cape Bretan then? Its really nice to finally have an idea of how big the Celtic culture is over there, I'd love to have a look at the place aswell, RESPECT!!
G'day Smith, I can't say if this is from CB or not. I mentioned that the music was 'The Rankin Family' & they are from the Island but I can't say for sure if this was taped there as I didn't post it. It's been a long while since I' kicked up my own heels' lol
I was SO not expecting the guy to just leap into the air right off the bat. I cackled really loudly when he did. Hope I didn't wake my family... LOLOLOLOL
Wow You Are All Really Talented Dancers Just He Male Dancer And The Girl In Purple Make Sure Your Palms Of Your Hands Are Tunred In The Way Fasing You (It May Just Be The Camera) But It Was Very Good :D :D xx
ummm...Idk where you get your information, but as a scottish higland dance instructor, I can assure you that what they were doing in the dance were perfectly in line with traditional dances...its not weird at all.
Beautiful choreography!!! Well done!!

Lol, what if they actually were back stage singing?
Taskat 3 years ago
That's easy!, Because if they were back stage they would nae be singing ,they'd most likely be having a "'wee dram" with the rest of
the crazy Cape Bretoners! , God love'em
