I grew up near Ft. Chaffee AR where these were flown a lot. They did lots of flybys over my house and area. It seemed they knew we were watching them while waiting for the school bus as they'd be doing playful stunts directly overhead for our viewing pleasure. It's an amazing machine. They can be really fast or really slow. And the sound they make is like no other - this video is the best I've found that really showcases that sweet music. I feel like a kid again. Man tears were shed this day.

now think about this... the guys doing the filming were targets..... you even see the pilot line up on the center.... the 2 pilots used the guys on the runway as targets to practice a strafing run without them really knowing just stating facts is all, but still impressive

The A-10 was tagged as Avenger 2 by the engineers, as it was meant to be used like the Avenger from WW2, except this one was used by the NAVY and was a carrier landing aircraft,

after that they changed it's name tag to Warthog, which reminds me of a nordic warrior, waving his axe in the air and scaring the F out his enemies =P

I was traveling to Bisbee, AZ for a funeral and we were driving by Davis Monthan AFB. I pulled the car over and my grandparents were asking me what was I doing? A-10 were landing and I just couldn't miss an opportunity to experience that close up. It was as close to a sexual experience you can have when there's no sex involved.

I used to work next to an airfield where they would have shows, and I've seen A-10's do practice runs, fly-bys etc...that engine screech is awesome!
