  • I need to order a dvd of this production like now! From the video clips i've seen it's unbelieveable...and i love jonas kaufmann as Don Jose...he acts like such a crazy jealous person it's great!

  • This is extremely well-sung, well-acted - and sexy. ;-)

  • d'Arcangelo, so handsome

  • Great, two amazing singers!

  • wow, two sexy opera singers.

    i love both

  • Yes l am waiting also , for these roles, but l think that Jonas wants to wait, he is young and VERY, VERY intelligent.

  • d'Arcangelo is so hot ;)

  • This longer duet makes sense... later when Carmen enters Escamillo says to Don Jose "Nous sommes manche a manche (We are now even)". If you skip the part where Escamillo gives up his knife, this line makes no sense (and is therefore sometimes changed to "je faire ma rivanche (I will take my revenge)".

But, in this day of 3 hour union performance rules, cuts abound.

  • Exactly. I hate it when they cut it, especially because the full duet gives such a good portrayal of Escamillo's character.

  • Escamillo is the only character i can really like in this opera.

  • Youre absolutely right! I think from his lines you can say that Bizet intended for this to happen too.

I mean José is weak and ready to sell everything he believes in for her. Not just that, he also is a murderer. Carmen..well I think you know and all her friends are like her.

The lieutenant is a sumbag too.

Escamillo is the only 1 left :D.

  • I want hear "Il Trovatore" with Jonas Kaufmann's Manrico and Ildebrando d'Arcangelo's Il Conte di Luna...... I heard d'Arcangelo has sung Luna already, is it true?

  • Sorry, it's "I want to hear", rather than "I want hear"

  • Hmm. I'not sure I d'A would sing Luna, he's more of a bass/ bass-baritone.

  • I know he is bass/baritone and it does not happen in reality. But I just imagine that, with his good looks, adding a few higher notes, he can be really hot as Luna.....

  • He's sung Ferrando...

  • Gods, this video a fangirl killer!!! :)))

  • Wow - being Carmen I couldn´t really decide which of them I´d love!!! So great voices and so handsome men.... Thanks for posting it - I´ve never heard this duetto before - it was cut in all performances I saw before!!!

  • Believe me, I'd take both of them.

  • NO PREJUDICES - I´d do the same! :-D

  • ménage a trois sans doute...;-)

  • At the same time ;)

  • Take Escamillo; baritones and basses are better, our low voices are sexier and more virile. XP

  • I second. ;)) Even though this Don Jose is great, too. :)

  • yes difficult to choose.

  • Wow, great acting, great singing! Two marvellous singers, what a pairing!

  • 2 hotties...

  • Does anyone know what edition this is? I've never heard a part of the music, that they've staged with the knife-fight.

  • I heard it already in other productions, but in some productions the duet is cut.

  • Wow...I can't imagine a better pairing of two young singers. These guys sound fantastic! Thanks for posting!!!

  • After hearing this confrontation Iam now dreaming of Cavaradossi and Scarpia oh,can you imagine Andrea Chenier and Gerard? I can hardly wait.
