  • This makes me miss my mothers cooking.

  • Who cares what kind of food it is!!!! To me it's still Fawm kauv Bc i am Hmong. In the end, it's delicious food and it fills up your belly with happiness so stfu people and enjoy the food.

Btw this is a great tutorial, i suck at making fawm kauv bc they tend to fall apart when i try to wrap them hehe.

  • How is this Hmong? This is a Vietnamese dish, banh cuon!

  • @LMFAOAlexander143 first off hmong didnt make this shit up. You said that it looks like nasty shit, go blame it on the people that made this dish up, the viet or chinese people. And second of all, yeah hmong people dont really have alot of food to call ours but whatever the fuck ur ethnicity is, the food ur shoving down ur worthless throat everyday is prob not what ur people make too. So now YOU stfu.

  • Ok ppl to much pride an talking too much nonsense. A lot of Asian ppl make this recipe and call it something else. Everyone's got a different taste to theirs! How rude of some ppl. Wtf is an Asian community if that's how they feel about each other. And you say other ppl are racist. You should support each other. And if you can keep you comments to yourself.

  • I'm pretty sure every race have their own food that are similar, but are called differently.. so idk why that dude is talking so much crap!

  • Alexander u a bitch made ass nigga! Go bark at the moon u fagot! Get a fuckin life bitch!

  • @LMFAOAlexander143 first of all learn how to SPELL assface.

  • @LMFAOAlexander143 Here goes another greedy pa-dek kid, ranting about hmong's cooking. You national main dish is PA-DEK, ok kid. If Hmong can't cook, why you're so jealouse watching this. Another pa-dek trying hard to put hmong people down. Pa-dek, you go eat you own shit.

  • Excellent video - very clear and easy to follow. And they look really tasty! Thanks for sharing.

  • what kind of camera do you use?

  • omg i finally now know how to make this

  • wow, you make it look so easy.sucks for me, since im not really good at cooking, but thanks to this, imma try it out. =)

  • Thanks for posting this up, ADoseOfMee, I don't know a whole lot of Hmong dishes and this is one of those dishes that I really wanted to get better at making. Seeing your video and knowing that there's already made powder mix REALLY helped. I made some today and it was the BEST by far from all the attempts in the past.

  • Can't wait to try this! Can you make Nab Vam? :) I've been trying my own concoction but I can't get it right :S

  • @kodakvy

my mom always makes them using tapioca flour too. now the rice rolls bagged flours are made conveniently for others.

  • man she like a foodnetwork channel

  • whats the white stuff?

    \

  • That's too much oil, and when you're using a none stick pan, you don't even need oil at all..

  • I have 2 questions for you:

    1. Where did you buy your pan from?

    2. Can you make a video of how to make nab vam (tri-color)?

  • I love LOVE rice rolls!

  • Your method is quick and fast. I like it !

  • i suggest that you don't used oil to cook the meat that way, when it cold down, there won't be any oil left with the meat. and also add two tablespoon of tapioca flour with that flour and more water so it won't be too dry.

  • i suggest that you don't used oil to cook the meat that way, when it cold down, there won't be any oil left with the meat.

  • btw, how hot do you heat your pan to do the wrap?

  • thank you so much for this! you are a life saverrrrrr.

  • Warm or cold water?

  • I never get tired of spring rolls!!!

  • @oshkosh22 steam rolls..

  • How much oil u put for only one bag? I never know how much oil to put in one bag so my mixture never come out right. N did u put oil on ur pan to make it non stick??

  • This Vietnamese food

  • omg thanks I knew how to do it but then I didn't let the white stuff stay longer onto the pan and omg! it turn out thick and nasty LOL. My sisinlaw and I did some this one time and mess it up! got yelled at from motherinlaw LOL it was haliours tho my motherinlaw was laughing too LOL. Thats because it was my 1st time doing it. LOL.

  • @hmongfreemovie The you tiao I've eaten are salty so maybe we're thinking about two different foods.

  • Hi. I have two questions if you don't mind...

    1) Can I thin out /use the Banh Bao Dumpling Flour to make rice roll wraps?

    2) Does your rice roll wrap have the same consistency/taste like a rice noodle or chow fun noodle? THANK YOU!!

  • @kimiko328 1) I don't know what ingredients are in the banh bao dumpling flour but when I make those, the bread is a dough, whereas the rice roll crepe is similar to a french crepe or a thin pancake. I would highly suggest you DO NOT substitute the rice roll flour with the banh bao flour. 2)The taste/consistency of the rice roll crepe is somewhat similar to rice noodle/chow fun but I think the rice roll crepe has more moisture (water) so it does taste slightly different. I hope this helps!

  • @ADoseOfMee How hot is your heat on the frying pan and when do you know the when the rice roll is finish?

  • @xyoojmomma The edges are extra crispy because it's so thin but that's normal. When swirling the pan, try not to swirl too hard so the liquid doesn't cover a lot of pan surface. Maybe if you cover your pan with a lid, that might help keep moisture in.

  • @hmongfreemovie Hmm...I'm not sure I know what you're referring to. Are you talking about "you tiao", the deep-fried bread sticks?

  • is 1 bag is 4 cup of water or 2 bag for 4 cup of water...jw...

  • Mine never comes out that easily...Argh!

  • I'm going to make this this weekend. Thanks! More videos please... ;)

  • i spread a spoonful of stuffing all over the rice paper so that when i roll it up...its in every bite!!! ^_^

    but this looks delish!

  • This so SUPER FUNNY!! it's not Hmong food... this is Viet dish.

  • @mhchue That is so SUPER FUNNY! It's called ADAPTATION.

  • @ADoseOfMee

-Duh!! but, you can never calm the recipe as a "HMONG RECIPE/FOOD." We just love to eat other nationality foods, but we cant make it our own "FOOD" when it wasn't created by us.

  • @mhchue I'm not going to continue to argue with you about whether this is Hmong Food or not. I'm Hmong; I'm eating it so I consider it Hmong food. You can consider it Vietnamese food, Chinese food, whatever. To each their own.

  • @ADoseOfMee : so when you eat pizza or spaghetti, do you consider them Hmong food as well? I'm just curious...This is a good vid anyway

  • @mhchue it is hmong because we adapt it to our hmong style of cooking. You cant go into a vietnamese restaurant and find the items so it is consider Hmong-ing it. ^_^

  • @mhchue its hmong food. i even consider hotdogs with rice, thats hmong food too! thats not white food, its hmong because i see alot of hmong people eat hotdogs with rice, even tho its not the subject. but no offense its my opinion. it doesnt matter who created the food, its how we eat it in our own way.

  • @TheChessmaster09 LOL.....I know why we call it hmong food...first, you're right we hmong eat this alot and secondly, hot dogs with rice is the SHIT!! LOL eat that anytime WITH peppers!!!!!

  • Yummy... thought you were going to make them for me? How come I never received the delivery? I waited all night!

  • Just wondering, what brand is your frying pan?

  • @lindyher It's an 8" T-Fal non stick fry pan.

  • So, you don't have to cover the pan with a lid to steam the batter? I thought it was suppose to turn translucent before you can flip it on your plate to roll. I have a non stick pan but for some reason I always have to put some oil so the batter won't stick. I'll try it your way..with/out lid...hopefully it will work :) thanks for the video!

  • @anniepoonanie You're welcome. To answer your questions, I find that covering the pan with a lid doesn't make a big difference so I just leave it uncovered (personal preference). I added oil to the batter so it doesn't stick but I do eventually have to wipe my pan with an oiled paper towel because the SRR do end up sticking to the pan after awhile. I didn't make a lot of SRR on the video so I didn't show that part. Hope this helps. Happy Cooking!

  • i want some now..lol..

  • thank you so much for sharing, now I can make fawm kaub with no problem!

  • great video! we have the same or at least very similar dish in hongkong. was great to see how you make it :-)

  • GET THE FAWM KAUV!

    :D

    -N30N-

  • what type of flour is it? whats it called?

  • @marchmallowvampyre On the bag, it just says "flour for steamed rice rolls" and I haven't looked at the ingredients so I'm not quite sure what types of flour are included. Check out my steamed rice roll pictorial on my blog for a picture of the bag of flour I used.

  • Havent had Fawk Kauv in tha longest!

  • Its easier to use spring roll wraps, same thing.

  • Do u know how to make the 3 color desert ? I've been looking for almost a year if so please make a video or emAil me on here thanks and godbless

  • I love these...i make them every saturday morning...everyone does it differently but it's still taste delicious....have tyou ry adding cilantro to your meat? it has a very nice taste to it...

  • wow Cool! I love Steam Rice Rolls! I always make them..When I crave for it!

  • Good Job!!! I'm hungry now just watching your video.

  • Looks good! I wish it can be that simple. I always do something wrong every time.

  • @honee69 LOL me too!

  • can u make a video of how to make the sauce?

    thank you

  • @fatmoneyman I like my rice rolls dipped in a peanut sauce or else I use regular dried crushed peppers with fish sauce (you can find a pictorial on my blog).

  • @fatmoneyman There's this one sauce that is a peanut sauce. I like it because it's also great as a dip for egg rolls too. It's a sweet, spicy, salty, and sour sauce.

Chop up cilantro, green onio, and asian peppers(thinly or small). Then in a small pot, boil a couple of cups of water with peanut butter. The consistancy should be between liquidy & condence. After that, add in those ingredients together in a bowl and add fish sauce & lime til desire. :) I hope you like!

  • wow.. it looks so simple.. thank you for sharing..

  • thank you so much for sharing, i have been doing alot of research on how to make this, and your tutorial will help me out!

    :]

  • ohhh thank u so much for showing ...ive been wanting to learn this..

  • Wow, it looks good! Will you marry me?

  • Dont chu gotta oil up the pan first before u add in the ....liquid Lol

  • @MinesR34 You don't need to oil up the pan, since she already added oil at the beginning of her mixture. This makes it easier.

  • cool, finally i learned how to make rice rolls :)

  • looks great. maybe next time you shouldn't use oil to cook the meat, cause it already has its own fat in it.

  • @makeupfirst oil adds more flavour to it

  • @kazz143 i guess it does for you but not for me! :)

  • @makeupfirst I'm so used to using oil to cook my meat so I just naturally pour it in. I always drain my meat mixture so I don't end up with a lot of oil. Seems like an extra step but to each their own. : )

  • hmmmm i want some...

  • nicely done!

  • @mrvue1 Thanks.
