Because she thought the only way to save her son from dying was to live through the loop again and change the events preceding the car accident. However, by going back to the harbour she completed her own self-fulfilling prophecy and essentially trapped herself in the loop forever.

She goes to the sailing boat and this whole loop starts - to me, what we see in the film is just one loop of many in which she's being forced to face the sides of her personality she doesn't like and doesn't want to admit to being there...
I got the movie perfectly, just cause my minds pretty good with continuity. But what I hated is there is this never ending cycle of time.. that keeps on repeating itself endlessly. What I would have liked to see is a point where the cycle begins (the storm) and a point where the cycle ends, and its broken. It's like the film shouldn't be called "triangle" but Time-cycle that's all it is! I mean it's clever writing, but i would have changed it to have a more satisfying ending.

well, there are basically 3 cycles for the blond girl on the ship:
1. When she arrives and kills the killer
2. When she tries to save her friends but killed the guy with the checkered vest
3. When she kills everyone so that she can leave the boat (through death)
The girl with blood on her face is in cycle 3, but what you need to know is that not every cycle goes the same way, as sometimes she kills them with the gun, or when she stabs them in the room etc.

how did the copy in her house get there and the car crash is strange aswell over nine thousand kids burried at the graveyard ( cant remember his name ) there are still allot of loose ends it could've been great i guess they should've this movie to someone else to produce imo

My point is, that you also see that she is sleeping in the boat, and that she is dreaming abut when she is washed upon the beach, with the crabs. When she wakes up, she says "I just had a terrible dream" and that she doesen't remember it. She has forgotten everything, and the loop starts all over again!

When she boards the ship or gets near the ship is when her memory of the ship vanishes I believe, but it is clear from the beginning of the movie that she is tired and sad, because she is exhausted from redoing this journey to try to save her son, but she WON'T give up.
At the first she has been trough everything, we can see she is tired, but we don't know what she has been trough! We also don't see that the car crashes and her son dies.
But I understand what you mean - when her son dies, she wants too redo everything, and not give up! BUT her memory does goes away when she sleeps in the boat, because she thinks everything was a dream! And then she goes trough everything again..

Wow. Some of you are dense. She was a terrible mother to her autistic child. She never made it to the ship. Everything in the movie never actually happened. The woman died in a car crash along with her son. It's referenced by the myth in the dialogue. She's symbolically pushing the rock up the hill only to have it fall down again. There's no escape.
They went into the Bermuda Triangle and she had to kill everyone to stop re-living it. Anyway I loved the movie! But didn't like when her and the little boy died and it sucked that she had to re-live it over again but thats what I would do to get my child back:) I would do anything!

For those that think she was stupid, repeating everything over and over.
Du you remember the start?It starts like it ended, but you don't know that she has been trough everything.
My point is, that you also see that she is sleeping in the boat, and that she is dreaming abut when she is washed upon the beach, with the crabs. When she wakes up, she says "I just had a terrible dream" and that she doesen't remember it. She has forgotten everything, and the loop starts all over again!

@synnekul No. I think she keeps going back because her son keeps dying somehow, and she has to redo the events to have an outcome where she goes home and her son doesn't die in a car crash from another version of her. When she boards the ship or gets near the ship is when her memory of the ship vanishes I believe, but it is clear from the beginning of the movie that she is tired and sad, because she is exhausted from redoing this journey to try to save her son, but she WON'T give up.

Yes that's kinda what I mean!
At the first she has been trough everything, we can see she is tired, but we don't know what she has been trough! We also don't see that the car crashes and her son dies.
But I understand what you mean - when her son dies, she wants too redo everything, and not give up! BUT her memory does goes away when she sleeps in the boat, because she thinks everything was a dream! And then she goes trough everything again..

@synnekul Yeah you're right. I saw this movie a day or 2 ago. Would you say it's a top 10 or 15 film? Right now if someone told me to name my favorite movies, this movie would come to mind immediately.

@oO0randomzach0Oo I'm not sure if this is my favorite. It may be one of my top 15, of my horror/mystery list. Some of my favorites are: Atonement, Chocolat, Water for elephants, Be kind rewind, A lot like love, Dear John, In time, and that's only drama/romance movies!
I love horror and thrillers like: A nightmare on elm street, Paranormal activity, Scream, The Blair witch project, Jaws, Red riding hood, and probably a lot more than that too :p

@synnekul yeah, it's definitely a loop. she falls asleep three times, and each time her memory fades completely until she reaches the boat - and to get off the boat to save her son, she needs to kill everyone.

As modern horror goes, with all its remakes, reboots, and and general lack of creativity, this film stands out as a sparkling gem amidst the fly covered vacuous crap that is mostly being spewed out today. BRAVO!

Wow. Some of you are dense. She was a terrible mother to her autistic child. She never made it to the ship. Everything in the movie never actually happened. The woman died in a car crash along with her son. It's referenced by the myth in the dialogue. She's symbolically pushing the rock up the hill only to have it fall down again. There's no escape.

They went into the Bermuda Triangle and she had to kill everyone to stop re-living it. Anyway I loved the movie! But didn't like when her and the little boy died and it sucked that she had to re-live it over again but thats what I would do to get my child back:) I would do anything!
