Me & the mates managed to bunk into this gig which by all accounts was not a great Queen performance, just look at
Me & the mates managed to bunk into this gig which i have to say was shit!!! so glad i didnt pay for that 15 minute fucking guitar solo!!! anyway still have good memorys of a great free day out annoying other people ha ha
@ween66 Aye we get it, you didn't pay for it and hated it, ok move on and let us people who did pay and loved the concert our chance to talk about it. The atmosphere was stunning, I thought the support were good, my hubby loves Suzanna Hoffs so I let him lust. Having never seen Queen live before I was not disappointed, I had a fantastic time. H&S would never allow it now though, it took us freaking ages to get out, onto the bus and back to the hotel, we didn't have any food but we had Guiness
This is the one concert that remains fixed in my memory and still gives me shivers up my spine - I was 16 and it was and still is the best concert ever ! the video can't capture the amazing atmosphere - even during this song we knew the memory would always be with us! a nice few minutes down memory lane ...
I was at that concert. I was only 14 years old and it was my first live gig, what a baptism of fire! The crowd was rowdy as hell. The support act, The Bangles, were given an awful time. 20 years later, Susanna Hoffs, singer with The Bangles said of Slane '86: "It was like Raging Bull, like a Scorsese movie." I can vouch for that!
Never forget leaving the concert and Lord something or other (who owned the castle and puts on a concert every year) was leaving in his Rolls Royce, driving walking pace cause he couldn't get through the crowd. About 15-20 people were climbing all over the car. Felt bad for the guy, but I think it was their way of showing appreciation. I'm sure they did some damage to the roof and bonnet etc and the poor guy could do nothing but smile! Wouldn't wanna piss them off or they'd do worse! LMAO!
I'd recognize my 80's hair, cheesy shirt, posture and towering height anywhere! That's me at 1:27-28, bottom of screen center in white shirt back to camera and again at 4:24-25 Raising my hands in the air..again Ctr of screen right of the blur! OMG LOL I feel so lucky to have been there.
OK Sorry! I know you don't care! I'll try to calm down now! It has always been one of the most memorable moments in my life for good reason.
I WAS THERE drunk off my ass on cheap wine! This is the single most memorable concert I have ever been to and it was my first concert ever. 80,000 crazy Irishmen and women and One of the greatest bands of all time. I am honored to have been there.
Once in a lifetime experience. It is the coolest venue.
i was 13th.. and i was in Milan.. never seen queen...if not on 2005 tour..
thanks for thi s video, it makes me feel there.. 21 years ago.. 21 years .... so sad.. in 1986 woodstook seems to be so "far in time",,,21 years ago... shit..
My God !, I was at that, I would have been standing near you aswell. I was only 15, I sneaked out of the house and thumbed a lift with some girls. those where the days when you could bring a case of beer into a gig an no one cared !.
One of the few live acts that did not have to fear their lead vocalists sound being mixed out front.
Mr Mercurys vocals are just so fuggin clear....this on an open air gig, with 1986 technology. Not only the best singer and best band...but also the best roadcrew ever assembled imho...Thanks for sharing.

Freddie's voice, sadly, isn't that great in this... and I don't mean the quality of the vid
I mean, granted doing 3 massive concerts would do your voice in. The comeback with The Miracle was awesome

Yeah, his voice in the middle leg of the tour was rough to various degrees--but check out the early shows!

This brings back memories. It must be years since I watched this show (all my VHS tapes are now in the attic); I must dig it out and transfer to DVD.
