But what about an ordinary man, who doesn't have a very good job, and develops an illness that requires expensive treatment that he can't personally afford? I come from a middle class home with two working parents, but I would've died (at the age of five) if it weren't for the government paying for my operation, which my parents couldn't afford. Doesn't everyone deserve that chance?

Someone might have to eat out of dumpsters to survive, and they can - but don't they deserve better? Life is hard on some people, and they should be helped. If you don't have a home, or good food, or people who don't look down on you, then you won't want to survive anymore. But welfare payments and job training might give you a chance.

And we did have insurance :P But they didn't want to pay for us to go to the doctors who had invented the procedure in England. Our doctors didn't really know what they were doing. It was a difficult operation.

But what about an ordinary man, who doesn't have a very good job, and develops an illness that requires expensive treatment that he can't personally afford? I come from a middle class home with two working parents, but I would've died (at the age of five) if it weren't for the government paying for my operation, which my parents couldn't afford. Doesn't everyone deserve that chance?

@spartanunoob I suppose the only thing I can really disagree with there is that there's a difference between 'surviving' and 'living'. Someone might have to eat out of dumpsters to survive, and they can - but don't they deserve better? Life is hard on some people, and they should be helped. If you don't have a home, or good food, or people who don't look down on you, then you won't want to survive anymore. But welfare payments and job training might give you a chance.

And we did have insurance :P But they didn't want to pay for us to go to the doctors who had invented the procedure in England. Our doctors didn't really know what they were doing. It was a difficult operation.

Uh actually Obama's tax plan has always been to reinstate the top tax bracket to what it was during the Clinton years which was 39.6% (its 35% now after the Bush tax cuts). I hardly call a 4.6% increase "astronomical" and 39.6% no where near the 50% number O'Reily claims.

The distribution of wealth in the United States is unforgivably distorted. There will always be a wealthy class and in a lot of cases there is a necessity for an upper class; but in America there has developed an ultra concentrated distribution of wealth.
Just one percent of our population possesses 30% of the wealth.
