This is the inspiration for one of the sequences in Uncharted 3. I saw a demo at PAX 11 and Nathan Drake fights a huge goon with an open hatch. Like Bond, Drake also has to climb up a cargo net and dodge falling cargo while the entire plane catches on fire.

Though The Living Daylights isn't my all-time-favorite Bond movie, the stuntmen in this scene had some serious guts. The producers didn't expect the net to start flopping around like that in the end and the stuntman almost got crushed.

Well, General Koskov wasn't working for the Russians but for himself and Brad Whitaker (the American mercenary/arms dealer). He faked his own defection, with the purpose of having MI6 assassinate General Pushkin (fortunately Bond doesn't buy Koskov's description of him and decides to investigate himself).

In the end money from Afghan opium would be sold to make both Koskov and Whitaker insanely rich.

This wasn't "For Your Eyes Only" in which the plot was very Cold War.

It's too overhyped and full of influence and drama that exists in other films that it can't create it's own anymore.
