This was a very dynamic performance and the accompanist is great. The only thing I personally felt was a bit shaky is the middle section: maybe play it a bit more slowly, because at times the runs felt a bit uneven and frantic. Great tone and interesting articulations though.
A wonderful performance in nearly all aspects. I am about to perform this piece in a week for my dipABRSM, you really must play the articulation as is written by Martinu in 2:12-2:16. It is meant to be an illusion of rhythmic fluidity even though the slurs cross over the bar lines! What does everyone else think?
in the beginning you were rushing just a bit, but it wasnt very noticeable. also, at number 4, where the meter goes into 6/8 your pianisit is taking it a little too fast. it will be easier for both you and her if you tone it down about 10 beats. otherwise, i really enjoyed listening to this performance.well done
This performance shows elasticity of music in the best way;should not be considered rushing suggesting that music be static. Marching or dance music, yes, absolutely metronomic is essential, but in this piece it's essential to allow movement - the stretch and push - of phrases. Sadly it's been in recent years that playing has become so static as to render it "perfectly"boring. I applaud this performance in 2 simple ways: technically superb yet the music shines through. Refreshing.
