I agree, cold is a state of mind. I'm the same way with heat. Lol, I always show my friends demonstrations with boiling or really insanely hot water and they just cant believe it. When I put it out of my mind, the sensation is like a cool breeze on my skin. Its really hard to describe, but there is no pain and it doesn't feel hot at all. However, you have to put your mind to it first. Lol, I've still cussed at the surprise of scolding water or grease popping out of the pan :P.

If you have ever tried touching or holding it, you will sooner or later feel cold and then exponential pain. the dry ice isn't cold itself but rather acts as a magnet for heat. As it takes away energy you feel the absence of heat.
