  • Comment removed

  • Good comment, thanks and good to hear from someone that lives there:)

  • Well said and thanks for your comment:)

  • I agree with you on the first point but not the second, I just love planes!:)

  • That's a very crowded beach!

  • Hi Andy! It can get really packed in the summer!:)

  • Was born in Clacton, but have moved since then to university. My parents still live there so I visit every now and again.

Its not really THAT bad, during the day. Its during the night when the chavs and drunks are prowling the streets that all of the trouble occurs.

I remmeber one time where me and a friend had jsut finished a 12 hour shift and went to get some food and ended up having to get a lift home from a delivery driver.

But, during the summer, not a bad day out.

  • Thanks for your comment and I agree with you, it is not that bad:)

  • clacton isnt that good i live here

  • Thanks for your comment. The seafront is fine for tourists in the summer, for everything else I would move to Colchester!:)

  • Clacton isn't really that bad.

  • Good call, I agree:)

  • You haven't seen Clacton after dark, ha.

  • I have actually, I used to go to Tom Peppers and Oscars a few years back.

  • I sure have if you meant that at me.

  • yeah i'm a teen live in london and go to clacton in the spring and summer, hardly in winter and yeah a big difference, when it is sunny and the sea-side is clear, cloudy and hot it looks like a beach from a nice hot country round the mediteranian, go in winter and it looks like the waters around norway, the same said about the girls there some are extremely hot and some are fat obese slobs, but most of the time it is a great place to go after just having seen the eurofighter typhoon yesterday.

  • I am glad you enjoyed the airshow, I couldn't get down to see it. And I agree with all your other points!:)

  • Did you actually watch the video? Or are you refering to the comments? I was singing the town's praises.

  • i love clacton lol

  • That makes a change to hear that, thanks!:)

  • Thanks for your comment. I went to Clacton again yesterday and, like I said in my reply to Shamboliccharm1, there is no easy answer to the problems Clacton has, otherwise it would already have been done. Seaside towns have always attracted crime and unsavory people, many from the east end of London, they settle, have kids and the cycle continues and expands.

  • If somebody wanted to do Clacton a real service they would do a documentary exposing the real problems this town has and looking into why. Maybe then people would be motivated to sort it. Because its a holiday resort it is deceptively presented. Below the surface there are very substantial and growing problems. good voice for the media by the way - maybe you could do that documentary? Clacton needs help. It's like an old man who keeps up appearances whilst everything is falling apart.

  • Thanks for the compliment, maybe the other side should be presented. Investment from Tendring District Council HAS made a substantial difference to the way the town is presented to visitors and holiday makers, bringing in money to local businesses, you have to start somewhere. There should be more down to tackle the social problems but who has an easy answer?

  • Really visiting is fine as long as you stay out of certain pubs in the evening but Clacton has one of the highest rates of unemployment and child abuse in the south east and the Pier ward is the 3rd most deprived area in the country according to government statistics.

    Clacton IS that bad area

Presenting Clacton as a pleasant resort is fine but lets not pretend it doesn't have far greater problems than most towns

  • Who's pretending? You obviously prefer to see the glass half empty, I prefer half full, if people keep painting a doom and gloom picture then nothing will be done and, more importantly, tourists will not visit. Most seaside towns suffer from the same problems, it seems the bright lights, cheap beer and gambling opportunities the arcades offer entice the worst type kind of people. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing the bad things of Clacton, I was showing the flip side.

  • Easy to see the glass half full if you don't live there. In fact it's not a 50/50 issue look at the statistics. Any way not having a go at you. It's just I wish I had been warned before I moved there. I thought I was moving to a nice resort for peace and quiet. So I am warning people.

  • Fair comment. I have lived in the area all of my 33 years and must have visited there hundreds of times but, yes I do not live there, nor would I wish to bring up my future children in that area, at the moment at least. Try and move to Colchester (or Ipswich where I live) we are going through an up-turn! Best wishes, Anthony:)

  • Not many people that live in Clacton have a good word to say about it!

    Only the visitors

Guess that means - visit but don't stay!

I used to visit and liked it

    then I moved there.........DON'T

  • I am sure every town and city has it's good and bad areas and places to avoid after dark:)

  • LOL Nika is such a good sport! Just prove how confident she is... :^)*****

Got something sent your way just now, hope it gets there. :^)

  • Thanks, Emmanuel! I saw something with your name on, I will go and get it!:)

  • good move getting Dominika to film the beach scenes! ;)

and a career in voice over television must surely beckon!

  • A masterstroke I thought, but I really must show her the zoom! And thanks for the compliment:)

  • Lol i live in clacton and its a shit hole dont make it look all good, you havnt even seen the bad parts of clacton.

  • I live in Ipswich, every town has it's bad parts!:)

  • Thanks for your comment. It depends on what you are looking for in a day out, what age group you are and if you have young children:)

  • Maybe they could start drinking SIMPLY APPLE beverage, as I did in Indiana. cf. attached video.

  • Thanks Tony for the great tour of Clacton!! I love your country!! (as you know LOL)

  • Thanks, Pete! Happy Forth of July! Are you making a video about it, I remember your excellent series from last year!:)

  • This 4th of July here wasn't NEARLY as crazy 'cause they banned alcohol on the beach, so I didn't take my camcorder along on this 4th, so I just enjoyed bicycling by the ocean WITHOUT havin' to dodge all the typical drunks on the 4th! LOL

  • oh this video has many views.

i just noticed that your banner has both u and dominika. i always thought it was just u...anyways its nice.

ok, now i am off to see these aweful video's u mentioned.

ok, so u want a video respones from me about kisses?

  • Thanks Bianca, hugs baxk!:))

  • That looks like a fun place. Listen we get bad press at our towns by the sea also. Heck we get bad press about alot of our towns. People just have to experience it and then make a judgement. I love to go to New Orleans for the food and the culture. My hubby thinks it is the devils play ground. There will always be opions!:)

  • Thanks, Kimberly! I have always wanted to go to New Orleans, one day I will! I love Vegas and have been many times but I know people who can not stand the place!:)

  • wha?

  • Oh and of course for the other thousands of YouTube veiwers who will watch, be sure to click on the ads if something strikes your fancy. You see, Ajd and Dominika are hoping to get away to Vegas for a Honeymoon and the Adsense can make that happen!

  • Now THAT is a good plug!:))

  • Yaaaaay,

    Congrats on the Feature!

Very cool and awesome like your video.

  • No, I was just responding to the featured video! Clacton is just down the road from us so it was good to see it getting some publicity!:)

  • Glad you decided to set the record straight we love Clacton. We also love the far end where the Martello tower is, not so busy, lovely beach and a family friendly pub. Cheers, Lesley

  • Thanks Lesley! We love Clacton, sandy beach, a nice pier, it has everything you need!:)

  • Cool video. LOL!!! Having dominika film now are we? LOL!!!! That beach looked very crowded!!! I don't think I could handle being there!!!! I tend to feel a bit claustrophobic when around that many people.

  • I wanted her to use the zoom but we can't have everything!:)

  • OMG, anty!!! I remember going there when I was very little growing up in Chelmsford!!! thank you for posting this!

  • You're welcome, Deb! It hasn't changed much in the 30 odd years I have been going there!:)

  • great video,I enjoyed it very much!

  • Thank you Sir, most kind!:)

  • Looks like a fun day - and a fun place.

The beach DOES look hot (but the ice cream, I'm guessing, more than made up for that).

    :-)

By the way, I finally found a place to shoot that clip, it's now "in the can" so to speak, and I'll be sending it to you in hopefully no more than an hour.

  • Thanks Curt! Brilliant, I will look out for it!:))

  • Looks very nice, actually. And, no, you don't look like a COMPLETE pervert ;^)

  • Thanks Ken, just a "partial pervert" then LOL!:)

  • I did reply but did not post. According to Wiki the Butlins closed in 85, hard to believe there are only three Butlins parks now, Skeggy, Minehead and Bognor, I am not sure if there is or was a Pontins at Clacton:)

  • Hi cutie!

This was such a lovely day I wish to swim in that (probbaly very cold) water but maybe next time:)

Hahaha yeee women were very atractive especially these after 50. hahah

  • That is kind of you, thanks!:)

  • Great video, you have such a wonderful speaking voice. I'm sure I landed at Clacton Station a few times. Pontins used to be very popular, is it still now?

  • Hi Michelle, I have been told I have a voice (and a face!) for radio! I think all the holiday parks are doing well down there!:)

  • Thanks for the introduction to Clacton. Looks like a fun place for a weekend jaunt. Beautiful seaside! The ice cream looked good too.

  • Thanks, Rex! It is a great place for a day out, despite the bad reputation!:)

    CDm

    x

  • Thanks, Natasha! Dominika only saw the sea for the first time last October, can you imagine that!:)

  • That is quite extraordinary - the sea is so much a part of our life.

  • I know, I was amazed! But we make up for it now!:)

  • Good for you, Mr Padbury.

You've done a great job here with Clacton.

So that's the Fens, then onto Clacton - you Eastern guys are flying the flag up there:)

  • Thank you kindly, ladies!:))

  • Looks like a nice place to visit.

    Amy xx

  • Hooray!! That means I am winning (Clacton has a really bad reputation LOL!) Thanks, Amy!xoxo

  • Just jump on a plane, I will show you round!:)

  • That's nice!

  • Thank you!:)

  • I agree with you on that point, but also a week in Spain could cost you the same as a week in Essex!:)

  • In '66, about 30 of us Rockers went there for the Bank Holiday week end. We camped at Jaywick Sands, but we encountered a load of Mods and was escorted out of town by the old bill..

    We made the Sundays papers.

    'Youths clash at Clacton'

  • I remember my mum telling me about the Mods and Rockers, sounded like a fun time!:)

  • Anthony...even us old Americans remember the Mods and Rockers lol EVERYTHING British was hip then!

  • It still is LOL!:)

  • Hey...but at twice the price! LOL

  • True!!:))

  • very sadly so...and it cramps my travel plans greatly.......

  • btw I forgot to ask, did you make it to Carnaby Street when you were in London?:)

  • Carnaby Street....make me think of "Twiggy"... lol....didn't get there, but I made it into a lot of pubs and taverns...and discovered the joys of scrumpy!

  • Oh no, not the dreaded scrumpy! I have had some bad nights (and mornings!) on that brew!:)

  • No wonder the British won the war, fueled on that stuff the entire world would be speaking English (although a bit slurred!)

  • YAY clacton,i have been there,great video(judith charmers)love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • LOL! Thanks guys! Great clip you sent me btw!:)

  • glad you got the clip and we are looking forward to the end result, love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • We had to put the deadline back to the end of July to get more clips, it will take SOME editing when I get them all in!:)

  • I guess I need to revisit kurt's channel :-)

  • It is defenently worthy of a browse!:)
