As to Jesus...he's sufficient for "ALL" sins...does that include the sin of non-belief?
Jesus is God in the flesh. So yes he is fully human and fully God. He did something none of us could ever do and that is be perfect. that is why he had to die for our sins. sin requires death and thats why they had to sacrifice sheep and what not. But the animals were not perfect. so when Jesus christ died for our sins, his sacrifice is sufficient for our sins because he is the perfect sacrifice.

Oh, and since I think human sacrifice is equally ridiculous...and since I don't believe in your Jesus...can I just sacrifice lambs? If that no longer works, why not? Hey KingHeathe: When it says that they shall surely die that day, that is true that they die that day. SPIRITUALLY. they are seperated from God through their sin of disobeying him by eating of the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Because of that sin then later i think you'll probably mention it :/ . is that Adam and Eve must sacrifice a creature. This is how their sin was forgiven or covered up, by the animals death. Sin requires blood. This is why we needed Jesus to die: PERFECT BLOOD

One has to understand that the early chapters of Genesis are a cobbling together of a string of etiologies – short myths that seek to explain the origin of a specific phenomenon.

It’s not hard to imagine an imaginative but ignorant poet reflecting on this curious fact and concluding it must have been a punishment of some kind. This happened because the story was taken from Ancient Egypt with the story of ATUM where mankind was created. @sixfoursoul1 "creeping things" is a very specific phrase that in Hebrew is meant 100% of the time to mean BUGS (and other such animals)...Spiders, ants, beetles, these are "creeping things". Humans ARE NOT by Hebrew standards.
You make lots of assumptions. How do you know snakes crawled on their bellies back then? How do you know it was even a snake? The Bible says serpent. How do you know all animals didn't talk before sin came into the world? You are basing everything on what you know to be true in this day and age. The world was perfect before sin. You could not possibly know what the world was like in the beginning.
Num 21:6 Fiery serpents in Heb.= nacheshim saraphim, because the effect of the bite was a burning sensation. Isaiah 6:2 Seraphim= Burning ones. Celestial beings, named, but not explained. Name also used of the serpents. BTw serpent in Genesis 3 is Nachash in Hebrew, it can mean glistening or shining. What we have there is describing a shining entity, much like a cherub or angelic being.

It's not talking about a snake losing it's legs. first of all, that phrase is a hebraism meaning utter defeat or humiliation. Whenever the israelities suffered defeat, they prostrated themselves on the ground and put dust on their heads. Josh. 7:6, 2: Sam 1:2, etc.

In that day thou shall surely die. How long is a day with God? 2nd peter 3:8 says it's a thousand years. Notice that Adam and his sons never lived a thousand years, they always died short of God's Day. Methuselah Came close though.

@KingHeathen Well since you won't let me use Hebrew to prove anything, I would say that a day means different things at different times in scripture, depending on the context. Sometimes it actually means a 24 hour period, sometimes it means a thousand years. And Adam and Eve were a direct creation of God, who is the author of knowledge and wisdom, they weren't dumb, just innocent. They understood clearly.

Granted that book is pieced together by two different writers by different authors but why would the same author of Gen 1 use day as something different in 2:3? God didn't make the serpent. This means that it was more subtil (wise) than any beast that God had made NOT that God had made the serpent.
Well, the Bible does specifically state that he made "everything" dozens of times elsewhere in the Bible, not only in Genesis. I could find quotes, but what would be the point, when I can simply say that if God didn't make the serpent, who the hell did?
Good, was that too hard? I think the whole 'Garden of Eden' is completely metaphorical. I interpret the snake as sin. I don't believe sin is a "thing" God can create. God can't sin so how does he create sin? He creates humans who have the ability to sin. Therefore, sin is not a "thing" and as a result can not be created by God.
Most people take these passages as literal records of events; even non-believers. Do you have a handy manual which clearly defines which parts of the Bible are to be taken literally and which parts are to be taken metaphorically?
You may find that manual is called "reason", and if you've never 'read' that 'manual' then you're doing it wrong.

In the book of Genesis, God often refers to himself as "us." Christians sometimes point to this as evidence that God was a trinity from the very beginning, but give no explanation for why he calls himself "us" in Genesis ONLY.
Hey King! I'm a new atheist subscriber and I have fallen in LOVE with your videos! I've always been an atheist but have only very recently started getting a structured understanding of why. I love the points you bring up and your vids really do make me "think for myself" as I have been on sort of a marathon of researching and tearing apart genesis. Anyways, I do have more specific thoughts about your vids on genesis:
1) I found your point about light from the stars fascinating and I have never heard that one before. It would be fun to see what would come out of an elaboration on that topic. I'm planning on looking into it.
2) I've been referencing my study bible, which brings up "all" controversial lines/passages in margins, but I was shocked to see a difference in my text: "tree...knowledge of good and evil, for WHEN you eat of it you will surely die". I wonder who decided to make the cover up.
3) Lastly, I'm surprised I haven't come across a vid on your channel about dinosaurs, is there one? My study bible claims that it "doesn't specifically mention dinosaurs, though it may refer to them ...as monster (Psalm 74:13), dragon (Rev 12:3), or behemoth (Job 40:15-19)". I think it would be interesting to look at these passages and see what OTHER animals are mentioned in the same time frame and see what animals could have possibly coexisted at those separate times and areas. cont..
It might be a good little proof to get some Christians to seriously look at real scientifically proven time lines and see that the "historical" bible doesn't match up whatsoever.

I think one reason the beginning of Genesis is so screwed up is that it was a hybriding of multiple creation legends of different neighboring cultures. I remember reading that originally Satan was not manifested in any for of deity but simply meant any one who opposed to God or the Bible.. You should maybe check that up but that's how I remember it. The deity-like devil came later. Many other deities were announced to be Satan when forcing people to convert, seemed to be quite effective at times.

Jesus is God in the flesh. So yes he is fully human and fully God. He did something none of us could ever do and that is be perfect. that is why he had to die for our sins. sin requires death and thats why they had to sacrifice sheep and what not. But the animals were not perfect. so when Jesus christ died for our sins, his sacrifice is sufficient for our sins because he is the perfect sacrifice.

SPIRITUALLY. they are seperated from God through their sin of disobeying him by eating of the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Because of that sin then later i think you'll probably mention it :/ . is that Adam and Eve must sacrifice a creature. This is how their sin was forgiven or covered up, by the animals death. Num 21:6 Fiery serpents in Heb.= nacheshim saraphim, because the effect of the bite was a burning sensation. Isaiah 6:2 Seraphim= Burning ones. Celestial beings, named, but not explained. Name also used of the serpents. BTw serpent in Genesis 3 is Nachash in Hebrew, it can mean glistening or shining. What we have there is describing a shining entity, much like a cherub or angelic being.

It's not talking about a snake losing it's legs. first of all, that phrase is a hebraism meaning utter defeat or humiliation. Whenever the israelities suffered defeat, they prostrated themselves on the ground and put dust on their heads. Josh. 7:6, 2: Sam 1:2, etc.

Sometimes it actually means a 24 hour period, sometimes it means a thousand years. And Adam and Eve were a direct creation of God, who is the author of knowledge and wisdom, they weren't dumb, just innocent. They understood clearly.

God can't sin so how does he create sin? He creates humans who have the ability to sin. Therefore, sin is not a "thing" and as a result can not be created by God.

They don't, in the book or in reality. That's why the Fall occurred, if they had known that it was bad to eat from the tree they wouldn't have. In the book of Genesis, God often refers to himself as "us." Christians sometimes point to this as evidence that God was a trinity from the very beginning, but give no explanation for why he calls himself "us" in Genesis ONLY.

You're right it was a lizard to snake legend regarding why a snake has no legs and didn't originally infer "the devil". I think one reason the beginning of Genesis is so screwed up is that it was a hybriding of multiple creation legends of different neighboring cultures. Okay, I do act very immaturely and I have read the bible as an adult around 6 times I have a PhD in medicine, theology, and in physiology. Note that I am not the immature child before. I want to understand what you thing the "bullshit" is in the bible in your mind? From my perspective and from my past I let the evidence take me to the truth and the history of Jesus brought truth and the truth set me free, (John 3:18). I want you to tell me why you think youre so intelligent.

I remember reading that originally Satan was not manifested in any for of deity but simply meant any one who opposed to God or the Bible.. You should maybe check that up but that's how I remember it. The deity-like devil came later. Many other deities were announced to be Satan when forcing people to convert, seemed to be quite effective at times.

It does not say Die "that day". They could not die before they ate the apple but after, then they could die.
They ate from the tree and they surly died. 900 years later.

Whatever your definition of death is they did die that day. They died spiritually. They died physically that very day.

So, a day is like a thousand years. How long did Adam live? 930 years. He lived almost the full extent of what God would have considered that first day. In God's sight, Adam lived almost all of the first day.

Huge? WHat more does he need to say? Before they ate the apple NOBODY could die/ After they ate the apple PEOPLE could die. As the Bible says "surly you will die" (meaning "be able to die"). Since the Bible explains adam and eves lives after they ate the apple/Doesnt that tell ou that our idea of that verse is wrong?

Read the OT...it's full of examples. He ordered the murder of innocent children and women and then allowed innocent young virgin girls to be taken as sex slaves. Read Numbers 31:14-18...this is approved of by your god? That's really sick!

First of all Nobody is innocent if God ordered for them to be dead. Second, why do u have the same typical answer? No where does it say Sex slaves. You people assume that. They were servants, and the men were allowed to marry the virgin women.
Also, those kids were be slaves under the sins and their death got them into Heaven to avoid being a slave under there sin...for their whole life.

yeah...I hate to break this to you, but HISTORICALLY WE KNOW that women were property back then and the women didn't get a say so into who they got to marry or have sex with. The only rules against rape were against MARRIED women...if the woman WASN'T married you had to BUY her (50 sheckles of silver (about 1.25 pounds) to MARRY YOUR VICTIM (how fucking sick is that!?)

WRONG!!! Try reading Deuteronomy 22:28 I'm not making anything up...I've just read the ENTIRE Bible...3 times. And you've skipped around listening to your preacher and taking his word for it. I c, I c, could this not be from a sunken trade ship? Egypt was a vast empire which traded with other civilizations of the sort. We find ancient sunken ships with cargo all over the place. Egypt traded with Greece, Rome and the East African coast, including the land of the gods,Somalia,Ethiopia, Eritrea area. The red sea in NEEDED to get to the coast, the nice would land you in Ethiopia, but for direct trade you could use the Red sea, to hit up Ethiopia,Somalia,Eritrea,without doing much walking

NO! God does not have time. There is no "time" in Heaven. A "day" in Heaven can be considered a milions of years on Earth. God does not live by "Earth Time".

Yes they did die that day.... Something died in them that day. One thing was the separation from body and spirit. Die "that day" does not mean " drop dead on the floor". They would die after eating the apple. Surly you understand that, cause the Bible goes on Adam and Eves lives.

I talked to MULTIPLE preachers about my questions. Then I did something that many preachers tell you NOT to do...QUESTION THE BIBLE. I decided to research it and guess what...I found the answers that they didn't give. It was actually easy once you did one thing...STOP ASSUMING THE BIBLE IS CORRECT. Remove that and the answer is clear.
I have read the ENTIRE BIBLE from COVER TO COVER...THREE TIMES. How about you?

nope...I was a faithful believer. I struggled for 5 years trying to justify my beliefs as the questions grew and grew. I was as open to it as anyone...you could ask anyone that knew me then. I was as devote as you could get.
