the sightjacking was overcomplicated?? sorry but i have to disagree. i loved it. i thought it was really interesting an i didnt have much problems with it. i still havent finished siren 2
Hey Everybody! I have just released my new electronic album “Sub-Zero” which is heavily inspired by the world and music of the Forbidden Siren series. If you're interested you can listen to the full album on my youtube channel, as well as download the album for free!
...Well actually it makes sense that the camera view pans down when you press up, because if you think of the camera as being on some sort of arc where it looks down more as you move it up and looks up as you move it down, then it works like it would as in real life since if you held a camera up higher facing the ground, you're going to be looking at the ground, not higher up.
On one hand, I totally agree about how the basic controls of a game should be as smooth as possible but developers for horror games keep implementing screwy controls, hiding behind the "it's a horror game, so the bad controls is to add tension" excuse.
On the other hand, I think that Sightjacking is an innovation.
There's more to it than just seeing through the enemies' eyes and Siren 2 has expanded upon it.
The thing is ,the creators of the Forbidden Siren games made the game very difficult, barely giving you any explanations for anything so that it could add onto the tension. It takes a bit of trial and error to get past certain missions in the game, but it's awesome. :D
yeah, i have a few mates who rather inverted controls. but u gota remember its like some poeple using a left hand. its not wrong at all, its actually a hard decition to make for designers to try and find what EVERY gamer wants in a control set up. they would have tested it, and found what worked best. if you gota change the controls, then u have to. simple as that really.
i was "watching" this game on ebay, but you've actually put me off. :D
@thedragonb0y lol i wasn't talking to you really so no need to apologize i just randomly used reply next to your name lol that comment was directed at the dude who made this video lol this wasn't even really a review he just bitched the whole time lol
@thedragonb0y this is why most Japanese game never get imported ppl complain to fuckin much hey its cool if you didn't like it. this doesn't even sound like a review though you just bitched like a female the whole time lol
but hey i understand it must have been that time of the month for you
Your review seemed very whiny, complaing about the controls that can be changed u wasted a minute on it , complain more about jumping control, complain more about sight-jacking and review over! few redeming factors mentioned and it seemed you liked the game but ur review is like treating it as trashbin material that should never be played! im just confused on your opinion
its not a lovely little touch that your character breaks a lock and later a different character comes and the lock is broken because your character doesn't know why hes breaking the lock and he has no reason to do so, the original siren had the same problem
Um, it's called inverted aim, DUMBASS. There are lots of gamers who prefer inverted aim as opposed to regular, and whizzedoutwoz, you obviously haven't played many FPS games before.
ocea papi... te pasas 3 minutos hablando de ke no te gusta ke la camara este en reverza... eso lo cambias una ves y cuando guardas el save game no lo tienes ke cambiar mas.
Im a big fan of horror games but i never played any of the Forbidden siren games before. Other than the obviously bad controlls this game looks pretty good. Kinda like Silent hill.
5:47 I think that was supposed to be part of the thrill of that charecter. Plus if you hate the wonderful sightjack that much your gonna love the reamke of the first one.
I can't believe this has two minutes of someone whining about inverted vertical look-around controls. It takes two seconds to change the configuration and as someone who *does* use inverted, I regularly have to switch when games default to normal mode (and I even do it without the rambling, monotone bitching!)
@whizzedoutwoz maybe it's that it's an even split of ppl that use inverted/normal? I would hate to think if something more serious (like getting YLOD or RROD) happened, if that infuriates you then you need help. lol
@bassmasterfei invert controls shudnt be in a game like this full stop. for a flight simulator fine.....normal control should be standard, not invert.
Did you actually think that was a good, clever, funny piece of content for your review? Even if it was topical at the time, jesus christ man that's just a horribly off-topic and abrup edit.
@vooxpop "LOOK AT THIS ITS A PS3 HAHAHA" Pretty much means you thought it was a ps3 game. OR he was playing this game on a ps3 console. If it's my second thought, then i am sorry.
@Alixandah I was referring to the point in the video where the narrator tries to be funny by flashing a picture of a PS3 on the screen and saying "LOOK AT THIS ITS A PS3" but it's just really awkward and horribly executed. Did you even watch the video?
no way man, the sight jacking was a great idea, yeah i agree it was pointless and annoying, but i thought that it was interesting to see the enemies point of view. i liked the first one alot but havent played the 2nd yet...
I don't think 'Sight jacking' is a 'wasted concept'. I actually fits quite well in with the game, without it, Siren would just be about stealth. If you use it smartly enough, you can avoid enemies, its just a matter or using it at the right times (which imo, I understand can get a bit annoying)
I loved this game, one thing this reviewer forgot to mention is that another change from the first part was that this game is no longer impossible to beat. Srsly.
And I suppose the controls r like that for the sake of suspense. If u would have something as smooth as a Splinter Cell camera it would loose quite a bit of the fear and survival horror aspect. Although, perhaps it could be a little bit smoothier than that.
I also had that problem with jump part. I agree it was not clear enough.
Nice review. I came here also to see the game in colors. I played fully in black&white cause it was european =~~
With all do respect, Sightjack would be overpowered if u could still move. If u guys think it's too hard, consider the option that instead of being a flaw in the game, the game might be too hardcore for your taste. Same for playing as Shu... I mean the guy is fu**ing blind and he's saved by Sightjacking and being able to move while using it (u see?... he can! wich compensates his blindness). And it's not by any means out of context. The game explains the Sightjack.
it is about time some one seed somthing about the down is up and up is down, i was begining to think i was the only one
i loved siren, and i really liked the sightjack thing, the problem that i found with the first one was the fact that when you thought you were finished with a stage you wernt really done
Sightjack, I don't like that you can't move while in sightjack mode. When I first started playing I found it a little useless. However I find when my character travels with someone they need to protect. I will use the Sightjack to see if the close is clear. It has saved me a few times from getting ambushed...
you got a point about sightjacking being complicated but there are parts when you just sit down and thank the creators for sightjacking;also, sightjack is a signature for Forbidden Siren, and as hard as it is to use it(WHY CAN'T WE MOVE!?)it's still very useful in many situations, but you got the jist of things in a fair way,so bravo.
Three things: Control system is just right, I want to play this game and the person who made this review dosen't know how to play. He should have tried to play System Shock 1. S= forward, X=backwards, A&D= turning, Z&C= sidestep left/right, Q&E=leaning and W=center, SPACE=jump, R&V=look up/down and F=center, R=stand up, F=chrouch, V=crawl, SHIFT=run, mouse controlls cursor. "It dosen't tell you to press forward" You don't walk next to a pit, stand and jump still to get over now do you?
I guess I'll have to just play it first and then come tell if I still disagree.
About that bit about looking up&down being reversed. I belong to the 50% of gamers to wich that is the right way around. For me it's logical. There is no "up and down" in control pad anyway. It's forward and back and when you look down you "push" your head forwards right?
Yes, but it's not setup this way, when you push forward it looks up, this is what I tried to explain in the review. And why are you saying something if you never played it.
Because to my experience you just learn to control. I have played games wich are very hard but just some practise you get things going fine. So there's no reason to make it such a big issue.
NO, it is a big issue when it becomes an obstacle in the game, like finding that sweet spot for you to be able to climb on a ladder or jump a gap, shifting backwards and forwards until you find it.
All right. I have now played FS1 a bit. I expect that the controlls are identical to FS2. So far I think that the controlls are a bit too sensitive. Meaning turning. I haven't yet got to a place where you jump.
I find the sight jacking convenient AND easy to use. Why would anyone use it while running anyway? In reality you would propably run to a tree.
"Why do the designers do this! Those fucking dumbasses! lol! I don't want to look up when I press down! Fucking developers! This makes playing the game a CHORE!" lol
Fun Fact, you pull the stick back to look up because that's the say it works in real life. You don't push forward on the flight yoke of a plane to go up, the same way you don't push your head forward to look up. Find some a real reason to rant. You're not the angry gamer nerd.
Its just personal preference. I got this game the other day and i constantly kept looking up when i wanted to look down. So i changed the settings so up on the analogue stick looks up and down looks down. However i play halo with Y-Axis inverted so im not retarded :] heh.
good for you, now why dont you go make your own video..... so explain why sometimes u turn the analog stick left and the camera goes right in some games... does that work on a plane? ..
I appriciate the review but i think you are the only one out of everyone i know that has an issue with the controls.
I personally didint have a problem with it.
Sight Jacking is what made siren very distinguishable compared to other survial horros. you have the power to see through enemy eyes to give you clues in certain areas.
oh 1 word of advice, you shouldnt state your opinions as if it was a fact.
I think i said in the review, it needed to be better or easier to use, rather than have you go through the motions of a game idea that didn't work.
Just my opinion but i think it would of been better without the sightjacking, it's as if the sightjacking is forced apon you and out of context with the rest of the game.
However I still enjoyed playing the game and thats all that matters.
Its a good review, and the control system is painful, i mentioned because it was a problem present in Siren 1 and they still didnt fix it, which is why i mentioned it in the beginning.
Good review, but I didnt see or have any problems with the sightjacking ability, in fact it was advertised early in the making of the original game to be a major component of the game, it needs to be there!
