I think I know what happened. They must have thought, "Ok, the load weigghs 200 tonne; if we get 4 x 50 tonne cranes, we should be right." But the weight on a live, swinging load like this isn't always even distributed. A gust of wind might put more load on one crane and less load on the others. And that's what happened; all of a sudden, that one crane had probably a 100 tonne load on it and the boom just snapped clean off, causing the other cranes to tip over.
@AtheistOnTheEdge No offense at all to you, but just too point out: the toppled crane has atleast 8 axles, meaning that its most likely one hell of a mobile crane. But being India, 10-15-20 years of hard use and next too none maintenance, a 200 ton crane can be "reduced" too a 50 ton crane:P When cranes are decommissioned here in North Europe, the "good ones" are sold to the east bloc and russia, the worst are sold to the middle east, India, Pakistan and so on.
@AtheistOnTheEdge U 100 % right this type of operation are realy risqy and need many realy skilled operator with good communication to make it work . 1 guys didnt do the right things on the right time and everyting fall down .
That why u cant made this kind of lift when a serurity guys is around , that realy risky normaly they call biger crane .
Tyle żurawi i gówno to dało, gdyż nic nie pomoże gdy jest kompletny brak wiedzy na temat masy danego ładunku. (So much for the cranes and gave a shit, because it will not help if it is a complete lack of knowledge about the weight of the cargo.)
Im a cranedriver you need to use your eyes mate. The crane next to the one breaked clean off this making the other cranes tumble.
What you can blame the ppl, this is not something that happens just like that. Those cranes are always alarming when you overhaul. BAD MAINTAINCE that is a old problem in the boom that now came to collect its due..
That is one terrible wreck! You can see the heavy counterweight slide off the Multiwheel crane! Not even three cranes could lift up the beam they were trying to lift!
When dont cranes fall over in india. All that telephone money buys them alot of cranes but no instruction manuals
