  • @KingsDrawer2 It's renoise

  • i must say this is the best gameboy music ever

  • aah the soothing sound of electronic bleeps

  • niiiice!

  • brilliant respect

  • Awesome dude!

  • lovely, well done.

  • Forgive the stupid question, but I couldn't tell if it was in the tags or not: What program are you using for this?

  • Renoise he is using

  • he/she is using Renoise. i make a few of my songs in this aswell :]

  • Aaaesome :)

  • reminds me of fast tracker ***flashbacks***

  • this is sikk!

  • this isnt gangsta rap son..

youre insulting the old sceners ;)

  • Awesome fucking cover !!!!! LION HAT !!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome. i am checking out that vst

  • Liiiioonn Haaatttt! Still it was amazing.

  • sounds like unicron kid

  • awsome!

  • loved it... a bit too much techno for my taste but no arpeggio means more talent and less non-sense

  • awesome

  • pretty awesome but not enough arpeggio :3

  • Chris Lake - Changes or what :P ?

  • what audio mixer/creater program are you using?

  • It's Renoise.

  • it is?? is this just some laternate view mode or something?

  • I think he's just not showing the entire screen (you can see that the instrument library thing is cut off)

  • oh yeah, silly me! cheers :)

  • Fantastic job! Loving the 8bit :)

  • great chooon!

  • You are using Renoise, I see. I use MadTracker, this is a great chiptune, a sucess!!

  • Is that renoise???

  • i think so

  • yes it is, using the ym vst plugin, its a great plugin

  • isn't there a couple more trackers that handle VST plugins? I used one that I can't remember the name of.

Not Madtracker, but something else. it was free.

  • Milkytracker or somethin i belive

  • thats correct, milky tracker is a good one too

  • Is that renoise or what is it?

  • fuckin awesome man!!!!

  • sounds like unicorn kids song

  • yeh at 0:44 when the synth comes in, its the same tune.

    still good tho

  • this was an awesome tune. Keep it up!

    check my trax.

  • I can never get any decent sounds out of that synth :/

  • Nice work! highly rated !

  • i gots a question

ok, in renoise, if you use the same instrument (usually vst) in a different track, the two sounds will blend together in one track and sound real crappy.

how do u fix this? plz

  • I LOVE CHIPTUNES!!!!!!!!

  • Piece of art!

I wish it was a little longer.

  • It is longer. Check out the "ymVST extended" video reponse or related video.

  • isnt the atari synthesizer 1 bit depth?

  • oh, atari ST, not 2600

  • The YM uses squarewaves for audio generation. A square wave can be produced with just 1 bit, 1/0, On/Off. Yes, you could say that each channel had a bit depth of just one bit (if you took away the volume envelope)

  • this is a good chip tune..

    5 STARZ ! =D

  • Great song man! What about composing for the Uzebox! ;)

  • Sure, why not. Looks like a nice piece of technology to play around with.

  • beautiful

  • Great song man :)

  • Best vst ever

  • freaking aawesome.. the progression and buildup gave me chills all over my body..

  • Lol.. now on i love chiptunes :3

  • impressive. i like the way you can bend the plugin... very musical, too.

  • Sounds like it should be a flying game :)

  • can anyone tell me how to set renoise so when the song plays the screen follows the song position :S it's still oh so new :(

  • the best part of ymVST is the "SID on/off" button :D

  • I was air-keyboarding. (atari-ing if you prefer)

    No joke.

    Awesome chiptune man.

  • that was awsum :D

  • sounds like sound for an old game on Snes

  • You should go back and play some SNES games. Not at all alike.

  • hmm, you're right, but, i've heard this type of song in old games, but this is sweet

  • Atari, not SNES

  • yeah, Atari, sorry. I always mix these two machines.

  • Not Atari, NES! Damn!

  • omg, snes nes atari what ever, old song that owns, finish this conversation now

  • lol

  • ymVST is an Atari soundcard simulation. If you want a NES soundcard simulation, get magical8bit.

  • hey ppl i was wonderin if someone could tell me where to get the stuff to make this sort of music im realy intrested so yeh

    thanks

    wb sooon pleaseeeee

    :)

  • Sounds damn amazing, dude. I run Linux, and Renoise's playback function is really crackly, as I don't want to sacrifice WiFi for a realtime kernel. However, if I ever get around to it, I'll link you to some of my stuff. I use Schism (basically Impulse II) a lot.

  • wow, i've never seen anyone used ymVST so well! nice work on this!

  • renoise ftw.

    yeah magical8bitplugin vst

    toad vst

    peach vst

plus renoise is prolly the best tracker out there even venetian snares uses this beast :P

  • cheers for this vid man its ace i try to make 8bit in renoise (all though my primary style is idm glitch break kinda thing)i even use ymvst but ive never got it sounding this amazing your a god :)

  • where did u get this i really need help

  • cheers ive been looking for using in renoise more 8bit vsti's at the moment i use tweakbenches: toad, peach, triforce, padwan and a few others as well :)

  • is it possible to download this tune in .MP3? telllll meee it's awesome :D

  • Awsome !!!

  • Sounds great

  • that isnt milky tracker .. it looks cooler

tell me what tracker this ist

  • renoise

  • renoise

  • Wow this is intense. DO WANT!

  • is there a way to make music with these sounds without knowing how to program video games ?

  • yeah you can use lsdj and a gameboy emu nad I'm sure there are some chippy vsts out there . That progs renoise btw

  • timbaland's gonna love this!

  • Why dont they play styff like this on the radio??!?!? Its fucking Awesome!!!

  • Because your the only person who would tune to that station..

  • I agree! Maybe we should get someone to use some chiptune tracks in today's music. Or record part of the song with chiptune sections and blend them in with real sampled backing tracks. BTW, where can I get a copy of the plugin used in this song and is it Mac compatible? Or even better, what about a Midi controllable SIDStation like device based on a YM chip like on the Atari ST, Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum, but with resonant filter, high pass filter, etc?

  • Thanks. Try a google search for ymVST for the plugin. If you're interested in controlling something like a SID or a YM through MIDI, im sure there are some good projects around (e.g. search for Midibox).

  • ooo i like...different than all the nexus crap commin out although I admit I use nexus cause it's crap to learn concept of sound but this song rox and is unique!

  • the chune of champions

  • Nice stuff!

  • Great one!

  • nice tune dude

  • Awesome song...

    Thanks for the video ;-)

  • Hey I just checked out your website and listened to some of your songs. I especially liked the "Raptor Level 7 remix", not only does it sound awesome but I'm glad to meet another fan of one of the greatest 2D shooters ever made. (or at least a fan of the soundtrack)

Thanks for sharing your music with us.

  • And thank you for listening.

  • I got a question, have you used any hardware to do this? (Excuse me if this question sounds a bit stupid but I'm new to all this chiptune stuff ) :=)

  • it's one of the best chiptune i've ever heard! respect! 5stars+

    keep up the good work

  • good stuff

  • this is fruity loops ? greatttt

  • Nope, it's "renoise". A modern tracker (what the bad boys used to use back on the NES/Amiga/Mega Drive/etcetcetc). Great program

    Great song as well!

  • awesome song

  • this is just mad tune, went to one of my favourites one instantly :)

  • Check out the video response for the extended version.

  • sweeeeeet.

  • Wow! I can't make nearly that good samples with that plugin. I gotta admit, that sounded ATARI ST ;)

  • That's sick....

  • That's pretty sweet. Is that the ending? If now I'd love to hear all of it.

  • Fantastic tune, thanks for the link btw, i've been looking for a nice Sid vst, i've been using peach and toad and they're very limited!

  • I got it running on cubase just fine, you can use some great delays on there to give the singular notes some depth. And you build ontop of each one then in the sequencer.

My only trouble with it is trying to make beat sounds. Hihats, thomping beats.. no luck :(

  • I think there are some websites that give you some information on how to construct snares/kicks out of noise + a square wave. Hihats are basically just really short high-pitched noises.

  • catchy chiptune...better than most i've heard so far...

    what tracker is this?

  • aah, heb juist gezien dat het renoise is

    my bad

    toch goed werk

  • Ive always wanted to make this kind of music (big atari st fan). I have cubase sx3 and compose things on there for myself (rewired with reason for alot of instruments like piano and especially reason drum kits 2.0).

But how can you get this to work on cubase sx3? Please let me know if you know :D

  • I'm not really familiar with Cubase, but I think you should be able to use the software in combination with some vintage hardware (through MIDI) or VST chiptune plugins (which I use).

  • Oh my gosh...

    This is great...

  • This is so freakishly awesome

    and so damm original

    5/5 hands down

  • is there an sort of ymvst for winows

  • This version of ymVST is for windows, yeah. Try searching for it on google.

  • very nice.

  • nice :-)

  • tis awesome

  • hey there IJ!!! i like the sound of this very much!!

i especially like the low quality sound. i can hear the bass but it is not real heavy!! and ATARI? i am a fan 4-ever! 4/5

  • make a brown note song :D

  • IJS IS FIGHT

  • Thanks.

  • First comment!, Awsome music, Atari FTW.
