  • America vs The world. Overall America has dominated the war in the ring. Cant deny it when the history books are littered with em. Must suck when the top 5 boxers of all time were born american.

  • Yeah, Mike Tyson only beat bums huh?

Frank Bruno, Razor Ruddock, Tony Tucker, Bonecrusher Smith were all world class talents. And all are at least top 50 heavyweights of all time.

  • you should have had Frank Bruno's cover of "eye of the tiger" as the song

  • @kevcarspray Yeah that's what i'm looking for.

  • @DopeSoundKokane ditto

  • HE SHOULD KOD TYSON IN FIRST FIGHT

  • BRUNO SHOULD BEAR TYSON AND LEWIS HE WOULD KOD HAYE AND WLAD

  • They made Bruno look like an idiot putting him in the ring with that opponent at 1:34 the guy had a pair of tits!

  • @MrBenza123 old George Foreman can still KO David Haye that loundmouth BUM boyfriend of yours

  • David Haye brit boxer all bark but no bite and what a LAME excuse he's toe was injured guess what Ali got a broken jaw from ken norton never made no excuses and he beat him thats AMERICAN BOXERS right there

  • I got Frank's autograph today, what a champ he is!

  • lol American Heavyweights Ruled in the golden era while this heavyweight era right now is BORING as fuck I hope Wladimir knock that loudmouth brit David Haye

  • He certainly made the most of his limited talent & you have to respect that, I think he is a great guy & deserves a place amongst the better British heavyweights.

A sort of Tim Henman....except he did win a grandslam!

  • Frank Bruno one of the greatest fighters of all time. He was the ONLY fighter to sit Tyson on his arse when Tyson was in his prime. Tyson even said the hardest fighter he's ever fought is Bruno. Youtube it.

    British Great

  • @ReppinSam you are just being silly. calling bruno "one of the greatest of all times" in spite of him getting his ass handed to him by tyson....KNOCKED OUT once...wait, scratch that....KNOCKED OUT TWICE, and KNOCKED OUT by james smith (james who?) is like calling the british navy great in spite of them being abused by iranians in rowboats who made you apologize for being in international waters and paying them a tribute (ransom). It is just silly.

  • @ReppinSam wow.... just wow.. what a dickhead

(and he didn't put tyson on his arse)

  • Good Lord Frank Bruno was awesome if you threw him in there with nobodies or has-beens. He had a little trouble with talented guys in their prime, though.

  • Frank and lennox are legends

  • nice choice of music,i dont think ive heard thus on a boxing vid b4

  • Really, Bruno was only stopped by four concussive punchers (Most fans forget the Witherspoon fight) and the only one who led him in those three fights was Tyson if memory serves..

  • The last guy had the build of an Ethiopian marathon runner haha

  • VERY NICELY PUT TOGETHER HATS OF TO YOUR VIDEO

  • frank ko`d a teacher when he was 11,respect

  • I thought this was going to be a sequence of Frank Bruno GETTING knocked out. He was the master, the best knockout in the business. I met Tim Witherspoon once and he agreed; Frank wouldn't just get knocked out, he did it with FLAIR.

  • I really hate boxing in slow motion, it makes it look so boring

  • Bruno was sooo jacked as shit! He had muscle on top of muscle. I am so surprised he ever lost, dude! He could knockout a horse on accident!

  • And as for the ad, I got a 28 day Fat Blast for ya, Boxing Training for a month, lets go.

  • I like Frank but I've never seen so many dives in one highlight reel. Crappy domestic boxers praying to get knocked out or given the change to fake like they got KO'd.

  • One of the most entertaining boxers both in and out of the ring! Check how he works his left jab.

Won 40 - 38 by knockout. Please someone make a compilation of all 38!

  • bruno+knockouts=shit

he only fought bums, washup momma carrier bags holders.sorry Bruno fans

  • @bushkilledtowers thank you, he got the dog shit beat out of him by Tyson twice.

  • @MRPric3LEss .....who have you got in america now? vitali? wladimir? haye? Valuev? Chagaev? Solis? hang on a minute.....are there any americans in the top 10? Fast Eddie Chambers might squeeze in at number 10....mmmmm priceless

  • @charliemagri81 There's no good Heavyweight these days, period. Not in Eastern Europe, not in UK, not in USA. Especially not in the USA, all the potential boxers are in American Football, Basketball or never put gloves on.

Bruno and somwhat Lewis were the last great UK Heavyweights since Cooper. As for Lewis, he fought like a Brit, more brain even with the brawn, can't really say was British, Born in UK, but was on the Canadian Olympic Team, Fought Pro as an American & Canadian.

  • @charliemagri81 But in the past American's have had more successful Heavyweight. Just by looking at the careers of Ali, Frazier, Holmes that filled up hundreds of Arenas in their day for good reason. Today there's no great US Heavyweight.

Although I will give the UK this, you got Haye, but I'm getting a little frustrated with him, he's not turning out like I expected, he's fighting no names again. Ruiz was a step up, than he takes 5 steps back with Harrison, but no doubt has great talent

  • @tftmc America has had some great fighters but go back to 16th century England when modern boxing was created and then eventuly spread across the world both bare knuckle boxing and modern boxing, they have had more champions.

They even gave boxing the rules we use today still "The Marquess of Queensberry rules" wich have been in use since England created boxing in the 16th century.

  • @athleticguyUK You have made excellent points in your statements, but the roots

of Boxing go back to Ancient Greece. The "Marquis of Queensberry" just cleaned

up the unnecessary brutality that was present in the sport at the time.England

did'nt create the sport, but they are the reason it is called."The Sport of Kings".

  • @AnnaAnnaYes No there was a form of "fighting" in Greek times but it never had a name,it died out in the 12th Century as the Romans took over and people then loved watching fighting with Weapons. It was totaly dead untill the English revived it in the 16th century,THEN it got its name as "Boxing" also named "bare knuckle boxing" "prize fighter" then it was given rules "Marquis of Queensbury Rules",1st ever boxing match was recorded in England.

    England created "Modern Boxing"

  • @athleticguyUK Sir,the documentary i saw credited the roots of boxing to Ancient Greece,i am not

saying you are wrong. It's like Christopher Columbus getting the credit for discovering America, but

there is evidence that the Vikings were here first. I'm not questioning your facts.

  • @AnnaAnnaYes 2 people fighting was going on way before the Greeks, but like before the Greeks & after the Greeks it was never called "Boxing" it wasnt called "boxing" untill the 16th Century England. lol

It also never had rules, ring, belts, weight classes untill 16-17th century England.

Its a fact that England is the creator of "Modern Boxing" and Greeks are credited with "Ancient Boxing" just look it up!

They also got proper gloves in 17th century England.

  • @athleticguyUK I am not debating any of your facts,i am aware of all that you say

    England did create modern boxing.

  • @AnnaAnnaYes Sooo England gave boxing the name of "Boxing" also gave the names to "Bare knuckle boxing" and "Prize fighter" they gave it "Rules" they gave it a Ring,Belts,Weight classes they made it popular across the world and what it is today.

This is why England is credited with the creation of "Modern Boxing"

1st ever boxing match recorded is 16th century England a rich man got his Buttler and Butcher to fight. (the Butcher one) lol

  • @charliemagri81 All those boxers suck.

  • @charliemagri81 Floyd Mayweather is actually rated #1 lb for lb... Let's see.. Bernard Hopkins and Timothy Bradley who I believe are behind only the klitschkos....Steve Cunningham, Andre Dirrell and even Shane Mosley are rated pretty high too.

  • @MRPric3LEss

Unlucky you ain;t got Lewis who destoyed th best generation of American voxers in the 90's.

  • @MRPric3LEss 1 name bob fittzsimmons 168pund destroyed 200+guys and won the middle weight title light heavy weight and heavyweight title o so did jones but bob won the undisputed of all 3 thats all i need to say

  • @MRPric3LEss two words - lennox lewis.

  • @TStotes Heh. Guy got knocked the F out by a furniture mover.

  • @MRPric3LEss also pac man and calzaghe spring to mind.....

  • @MRPric3LEss

We've got lewis who whipped all your asses why would we need another?

  • @MRPric3LEss what about joe calzaghi. mr pricless you are a troll and should kill yourself

  • @MRPric3LEss hahaha americans are all useless, nigel benn and eubank would have put most of your punks out of the picture

  • @MRPric3LEss Thats why Britain currently has more world champions than any other nation, 4 world champs in 4 diffrent divisions.

thats why Amir Khan & Carl Froch are currently smashing up Americas best offerings.

Ali got his ass totaly knocked out & saved by the bell against Brit Henry Cooper. then the bell went Ali was out of it staggerd to his corner then his glove was torn so before they could start the next round they had to wait for a new glove wich took ages givin Ali recovery time.

  • @MRPric3LEss all heavy weights and admittedly all good fighters but what about. Alan Minter, Dave 'Boy' Green, Chris Eubanks, Michael Watson, Henry Cooper(RIP btw), John L Gardener, Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Prince Naseem Hamed, ,Ricky Hatton, John Conteh etc etc etc

  • @MRPric3LEss Lennox Lewis is British. He put your hero Tyson on his arse. Danny Williams is British. He did the same thing.

  • @MRPric3LEss lol all your "GOOD" boxers are old and cant wipe there own arse yeah they was good in there prime but cant throw a punch now so sit down shut up and english boxers are best

  • @MRPric3LEss OH lordy lordy, britains produced some of the best boxers to walk this earth, as has americas i wont deny that, all i can gather is that you don't know your boxing history, or present for that matter, maybe your just a cunt trying to squeeze in an insult on britain? yeh thinks so.

  • @MRPric3LEss u haven't got any heavy weight champs at the mo and and haven't had any for years. you lot are finished, a spent force. Your right america did HAVE some good boxers. That was last century though. America is on it's knees in debt and no way out, it's a "Has Been"

  • @MRPric3LEss American boxers suck!! The klitschko brothers hold all the heavyweight belts.

  • @sloeginn and they are as boring as fuck!

  • @sloeginn wtf? klitschko hold belts ? becoz no boxer right now ..thats why ..if 90 boxer there like..tyson,formen,larry,bowe,lewis,holyfield..tommy,,,like those legends there klitschko has no chance..this is the boxers not klitschko...

  • @MRPric3LEss - Why do you have to go and say something provocative like that? Not only is it ignorant but you're kinda picking on the small guy. The UK is a much smaller country than the US with far less people, so we have a smaller gene pool. Considering the UK's size and population we have still managed to produce some outstanding talent. Your comment is largely irrelevant. Doesn't mean you're any tougher than us. And hey, as a side note; we're better musicians than you are :-)

  • he was a better weight lifter than boxer

  • hardest punch ever recorded if i remember rightly???

  • he would have been a better boxer if he wasnt that big. i et its quite tight n coudnt get much snappy-ness in his punches. but still hes a great man, n he wernt a prick to his opponents like a alot of boxers.

  • People can say what they want, but bruno must've hit hard as HELL!!!

  • I don't mind Frank Bruno. He achieved his goal in the end with his win over Oliver McCall to become Champion. He had lots of perseverance which is a good quality to have. I have this full fight on DVD if anybody is interested. Its very good quality.

  • Bruno was a tremendous puncher.

  • Met Frank in street last week - took photo with him - he gave me/signed a copy of his autobiography which he had in his car - very charming and genuinely nice guy - respect.

  • I think people should know that about 15 years ago Frank Bruno drove himself to my next door neighbors house in London and spent the day with him as his last dying wish was to meet his hero. No cameras or media publicity, just a quiet affair out of the goodness of his heart. I have so much respect for this man its untrue!

  • @10400274 sort of disagree there pal. He had a mean hook and the power but he didn't ave the hand speed. As obvious when he fought Tyson the first time. But I think if he had the hand speed I think it quite possibly would ave been a different outcome;) or maybee a draw.

  • frank bruno had the meanest right hook in boxing

    brunos a fucking legend

  • Who is the fighter he knocks out at 1:54? I recognise him but I can't think of his name. If anyone could remind me I'd really appreciate it.

  • it is Carl 'The Truth' Williams

  • @charliemagri81

    Thanks!

  • they all good

  • Fuck off you cock, you don't know your arse from your elbow. Tyson was good, Bruno made us Brits feel good.

  • 1 word legend thanks for the video :)

  • Comment removed

  • He was great in the HP adverts. Really managed to convince me I wanted brown sauce on my chips.

  • go bruno britans pride

  • Bruno was a great boxer?Maybe by british heavyweight standards in the 1980's. Name one great heavyweight (who was not past his peak) that Bruno beat.Bruno was a nice bloke, good fun in post fight interviews and my kids loved him in panto. He also made a couple of great appearances on 'A Question Of Sport' but to describe him as a 'great boxer' and to compare him to the greatest heavyweight ever-Lennox Lewis( history is a good judge and will prove it)is laughable. But us Brits love a loser don't we?

  • Lennox Lewis the Greatest???????????????? LOL!!!! What bout Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Marciano, Lous, Armstrong, Johnson etc etc. Fact is the only 2 big wins on his record were against hasbeens and he was ko'd by 2 bums. Apart from that he fought alot of crap. Greatest ever lol, that's comical

  • @sabred1978

He by way of rematch has beat everyone he ever went against and fought all the best of his day. People also forget that he is older than Tyson so they were both probably past their primes. His methodical style may not have been the most exciting but his record proves is one of the best. Also Marciono beat Louis when Louis was well and truly past his prime.

  • Bruno was a great boxer. He was technically better than smith and lewis. A downside to bruno's boxing was lack of speed.Other than that he did well and put up some good fights.

Tyson was the best boxer around and far better than lewis ect ever were, he, like Ali, had one too many fights and should never have fought in his later years.

  • one thing i dont get is alot of people are trying to say how he's 'not the best' and how other boxers are ten times better..

who ever said he was the best boxer of all time?

you cant be a bad boxer and become a heavyweight champ now can you?

  • Try to think of Tyson (Fighter) and Ali (boxer) Ali didn't scrap but Tyson, Fraiser did, always coming forward and always in your face. Ali on the other hand was a hit and not be hit boxer in and out always on the outside moving in circles. I think Ali was the best boxer of all time and Tyson is up there with the best fighters of all time. If thing would of gone different for Tyson who knows where he would be. Lewis couldn't touch him at his peak though, Tyson was too fast and explosive.

  • Interesting stuff leftback04 and some good input, but you can't say that Lewis would'nt have stood a chance with Tyson at his peak. Lewis on his day could have beaten ANY heavyweight alive, but was also beatable like all the legends before him. Tyson never fought anyone anywhere near the class of Lewis when he was 'at his peak' so the comparisons are too difficult to make. Personally I think Tyson could never have beaten Lewis, but anything can happen in heavyweight boxing.

  • OscarDanDan76, they say you can only beat what's in front of you. Tyson for 4 years tore apart the heavyweight division. I think that it's fair to say that when Tyson split with Atlas it was going downhill fast. Tyson lost the drive and wasn't being pushed by new trainers. Overweight and sluggish against Douglas he was robbed in the 8th. But hay that's boxing, Who did Lewis beat that was any good? I think they did the best they could with what they had.

  • For a start he beat Evander Holyfield, TWICE, the first fight was never a draw. Holyfield took Tyson apart. He destroyed Ruddock who Tyson had to 'dig deep' with. He fought opponents, like Tua, who had the tools to KO Tyson as their styles would result in one or the other being KO'd quickly. He beat some very good fighters, including Tyson himself. Lewis remember had already peaked when he fought Tyson. His last great fighting performance was against Rahman 2!

  • You are a complete monkey. Without fighters like Bruno, you can't have great fighters. Bruno was a very good fighter, a world class fighter. He wasn't great, but very few are. However, win or lose, his fights were always entertaining. As a boxing fan, I appreciated that about him.

    Now go kill yourself.

  • A British great.

People talk utter nonsense on here, he lost to Lewis, Tyson, Bonecrusher Smith (who took Tyson the distance, I believe), and Tim Witherspoon, not as if he was getting bashed up by bums.

He was ahead against Lewis - who is considered one of the best 'boxing' Heavyweights of all time . Not bad for a guy with no 'skills'. KO ratio of 38 in 40 wins. Legend.

How many of you have ever been a World Heavyweight Champion?

    .......thanks and goodnight.

  • Well said that man!!

  • @byson2006 here here, i totally agree :)

  • @byson2006

    Well said!

  • No a fuckin axolotl.....gimp.

  • Hahaha. Bang on the money mate. When he came up against a half decent fighter he got beat up. He had the heart but lacked the ability.

  • Um...thats debatable

  • wouldnt like to take his right hand or even jab fof that matter

  • what a time sportsnight?harry carpenter?frank bruno.when we could see boxing not having to pay per view.i remember the night he lost to tim witherspoon.late night on radio 2 with my dad and uncle.magic times

  • Surely one of the nicest blokes to step in the ring..Bruno, you're a legend and a true brit, mate!

  • BRUUUUUUUUUUUNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    LEGEND!!!

Worked his arse off and gave it everything, when others would have quit he stuck it out.

don't forget when you heard "and the New Heavyweight champion of the world Frank Bruno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

  • Bruno did the best with the tools he had!

Major puncher and strong but his lack of speed and explosiveness and not the best chin in the world was the reason he lost many important fights.Remember he held the wbc title for a short while and that says something. He was a top 10 guy for many years and he did'nt talk alot of bs.I really liked him AND don't forget he totally outboxed Lennox Lewis before the ko.

  • Frank is an animal.

    When he wants to be.

  • Bruno was one of the hardest hitting heavyweights for that (any?) era. He was also a well skilled boxer. Proof?

    1) Winning against Bonecrusher Smith before last rd stoppage

    2) Winning against Tim Witherspoon (world title) before late stoppage

    3) Winning against lennox Lewis (Bruno's most aggressive performance), before (again!) being stopped.

    4) First man to truly rock Tyson

His main problem was inability to recuperate and somewhat upright. He wasn't 'chinny' as such. But he was brave.

  • Exactly! When he was hit, he would freeze and stop fighting back. Never could understand that about him. Kind of like Ken Norton.

  • i remember a fight, were he ko's the guy in 15 seconds but i cant remember his name...

    any1 else remember it???

  • bruno was a gd ko fighter and he had one hell of a hard punch on him BUT unlike tyson he seems to lack that killer instinct and aggression like he's jus was a little bit to much of a nice guy

  • frank bruno was a dirty fighter that used every dirty trick in the book, his favorite was holding and hitting ,and the ref always turned a blind eye to him ,because no one was aloud to say anything about are wonderful frank

  • kevrs2 Well said, though I think it was done more out of sheer desperation than

    anything else.

  • Love the way the bloke completely went for a tiny feint at 1:40

  • People should admire a boxer for his fighting skills, not simply because he is BRITISH or American and Bruno had no real skills to speak of. He was very ordinary and one of the most frightened

boxers I've ever seen in the ring.

  • 2:55 i would not wanna be on the end of that. Frank is a true warrior he didnt say no to anyone in there prime. True legend.

  • Bruno is a legend he could have been a great boxer if he had a killer instinct he always back off when he caught someone when he should have just went for the kill

  • dnt slag bruno off none of u got the heart he has, u fight tyson lewis mcall in there prime...

  • you gotta love this guy would any of you guys out there get in to tte ring and face some of the opponents frank did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bruno only ever lost to world champions

  • And he only fought bums. I remember in 1987 the 'foght' v guy he kod at 1:43 was on Sportsnight at weekend. Henry Cooper, Dave Moorcroft and football person said it was a joke that the fight took place and it was bad for sport. It was a 1 minute ko and that was 1st punch Bruon threw. A real low in my sports viewing in 1980s

  • Yeah. It was Chuck Gardner - I remember watching that when I was 9. They said it didn`t do Bruno any good, didn`t do boxing any good and it certainly didn`t do Chuck Gardner any good. Also, Harry Carpenter didn`t really know his age but he looked ancient.

  • Bad for sport.

Fupp me - he (Gardner) was supposed to be the same age as you or a little younger. He looks early 40s to me at the time.

Bruno was sponsored by Beeb and The Sun so had huge media backing. Apart from Coetzee he beat nobody worth beating in their prime. Bonecrusher was a nobody before he kod Bruno, Witherspoon was overweight and the 2nd Tyson fight was a farce as Tyson was there for the taking and Bruno laid down

  • I agree - Bruno always fought loads of overweight journeymen before fighting the top men but British boxing fans are always mad for it so it would have been a massive moneyspinner for the one hope to have a chance. In retrospect it seems mad he became champ given how limited he was - to be fair, I thought Bonecrusher, Witherspoon, Tyson and Lennox were the best of their generation - even Bonecrusher. Bruno shit himself against Tyson 2.

  • why?

  • British fuckin Bulldog!!! No Surrender!!!

  • Frank, what a nice guy he is.

You'd never see him bite ears off to win.

  • Tyson didn't do it to win, punk ass... get your facts right mootherfucker

  • Did I say he did it to win, did I diss Tyson in any way????? no I think not so you a complete dip shit for even thinking I said it. OMG are all you Tyson fans retards?

  • you said, and I quote, "You'd never see him bite ears off to win", now if that isnt a direct dig at tyson I dont know what is.

  • plus you did say "You'd never see him bite ears off to win", which means you think tyson bit holyfield to win, who in their right mind would bite someone to win a fight, you know you are gonna get in trouble, but mike was so angry he wasnt thinking

  • christ calm down it's just a comment.

  • tyson didnt bite holyfield to win, he did it for revenge for headbutts in 2 fights that gave him scar tissue over both eyes, the first cuts he ever had

  • Im glad somebody pointed it out

  • he got cut in the first holyfield fight, he bit holyfield because he ran out of ideas to beat him realising he couldnt knock him out in 2 rounds and lost his cool

  • Exactly. Tyson did alot of headbutting, elbowing, and low punching in the first fight. I love how Tyson fans try to act like he was a fucking saint.

HE GOT THE EVER-LOVING SHIT KICKED OUT OF HIM BY A BETTER FIGHTER! Get over it.

  • gotta love big frank great boxer and all heart. shame there isnt more like him today god knows the heavyweight divison needs it.

  • great man..inside and out side of the ring....

  • too honest a boxer !!

  • The media screwed a very good man!! Frank's a boxer and a forgotten star!

  • The trouble was that Frank was force fed too much crap in his early career and he was not ready when someone hit back.

Look at the state of that guy 1.34-1.50 how on earth was he allowed in the ring ?

  • I agree, That guy had the biggest bitch tits ive ever seen!

  • You make a very valid point.First of all the fat overgrown slob was Chuck Gardiner,

who had not in fact Boxed for over three years. This Man took this fight at a Weeks

notice because "He wanted to see Europe"!?!?. I was very shocked when I saw the state of this American,he admitted to not Training even one Round

and his pre fight diet consisted of 24 Bottles of Buweiser per day.Bruno's handlers knew their Golden Goose was a very flawed fighter.Once he was hit he was in big big trouble.

  • Frank's final attack in Round 7 of the Lewis was poor as it gets, you can see what a great right cross he had from above but was throwing hit and cuff shots, why?

  • Lennox and Bruno were related , i think thats why Bruno didn't fight that well , Lennox said Bruno was his Uncle Tom. I would never box my uncle !

  • Looooooooooooooooool...are you serious...i think the uncle tom was an insult!! as far as i remember

  • i heard that he was to scared to use his full power in the ring.. duno if it was true but just had to look it up.

  • frank bruno was the hardest punching heavyweight in the history of boxing, lennox and tyson were scared of him. he should have went to the olympics in 1980 he would have pole axed the cuban heavyweight in the 1st round. hes a legend only ever lost when he couldn't land the big punch he just got frustrated.

  • Bruno was a genuine puncher but a harder puncher than Shavers, Foreman, Tyson or Liston- I don't think so!

  • everyone loves him but he wasnt the hardest puncher in history, that just crazy, he lost his bouts because he simply wasnt an elite heavyweight, he was good but not a great. and his muscular body wasnt good for his stamina, he was winning fights that he lost because he tired quickly.

  • Frank Bruno had a top 5 most bone crushing punch ever probably. I always remember Earnie Shavers talking about him, and saying that Bruno was the second hardest hitter he had ever met, besides himself of course. Said it was a nerve crushing sort of punch very similar to his own. And yes I would say that he and many many many others made Tyson's best shots look like middleweight power, all the hiphuggers can say whatever they want, he was entirely overrated...

  • Tyson put more leverage, weight, hips etc into his punches more than any of those guys. He was the most perfect example of Kinetic Linking I'ver ever seen.

And his body was build for it perfectly. strong legs, hips, glutes, backs, shoulders and arms. Short arms to keep them pact, and a short height so he got more leverage.

It's perfectly possible that Mike Tyson was the hardest puncher of all time.

  • I'd be genuinely interested in other peoples thoughts - I've just been watching 'street fighters' such as Bartley Gorman and Lenny the Guv'nor - however watching Bruno and other 'professionals they look in a totally different class; they hit so hard. I wonder how these fighters would match up....Prob a silly question but interesting perhaps.

    Regards W.

  • Against the likes of McClean & Gorman you'd have to pick any trained professional to beat them probably with ease as Lenny & Bartley fought under more or less the same rules as boxers.a more interesting question is how the boxers would compete with trained MMA fighters today? OK if they can land the big bombs but they'd be tied up in knots in the ground game no doubt. If you look at the likes of Francis, Botha & Mercer who have competed in MMA you'd have to favour the MMA fighter I think

  • In the debate of Boxer vs MMA though we would have to consider many factors like rules etc ofc a boxer fighting in MMA with no experience whatsoever will lose.. but the same can be said for a MMA fighter in a boxing ring.

In a street fight as many things would be allowed that would aid BOTH Boxer and MMA guy etc a boxer may not be as easy to shoot if he could club someone on the back of the head or grip opponents garments for support etc... in the end i believe it comes down to the individual.

  • Watch Kimbo Slice for a street fighter and then check him out against a real UFC opponent and you'll see the difference.

Any top 10 pro boxer would make a bare knuckle street fighter look stupid, the only way a street fighter would win is a very early KO because they wouldn't have the same discipline and conditioning a pro would have had.

Most street fighters wouldn't have had half as many fights against class opposition either, look at Lennox Lewis highlights and check out the ounch accuracy

  • Yeah, Bruno was great wasn't he ?

I'm sorry but Frank had several faults in the ring.

Nothing flowed about him, he moved like a robot.

He was too chinny for a world class heavyweight and His Stamina wasn't the best.

  • Rocky is fiction, Frank Bruno's only fault was he was not an aggressive guy by nature. Yes he could be floored but so could a lot of other fighters around that time. no one is invincible,

  • Also Bruno was around when the Heavyweight scene was a shambles...in fact it still is!

  • Bruno had more than people give him credit for, hooks, jabs uppercuts bodyshots, and a knockout punch that would floor anyone. He was making a living. He was a world champ, he fought anyone that they put in front of him and as far as I know did not dodge anyone, never talked bullshit before a fight.. Never got involved with hype. so why do people slag him off?

  • Frank was a gentleman, a bit too much in the Tyson fights though he looked scared, he should of went at the bastard like Nigel Benn
