good point. I guess I wasnt thinkning about that. I wasnt trying to make some definitive point however and actually cut the vid as I ran out of time. thanks for the comment
i like this post. one thing though, i think it really depends how we determine truth as observation. *truth is not the screen*
when i observe your image broadcasting from nz to me here in the u.s. it is an interpretation of reality. we cannot wholly count on the subject's field of view via the image because the image frames and crops an authentic real...
any student of photography or videography will recognize that all images perpetuate a closed system, a cropped version of reality.
I'm with Wittgenstein on this one. In the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus he tried to produce a general theory of how language describes the world. He finally decided that describing in language how languages describe the world really can't be done. Yes, maybe the best way appreciate the difficulty of coming to an ultimate 'truth' is to try to understand it from your own experience without becoming a subjectivist...Not easy, but it can be done. But then you may be making exactly the same point.
hes a geniue yes I agree. Concerning that particular quote however surely if you say you cannot talk bout something you are talking about it, are yo not?

What about optical illusions? Are they the truth because they are what you see?
CousinoMacul 3 years ago
I guess they are just that, optical illusions

Exactly, CM...Watch this:
watch?v=C23pe9Pck6
and then discourse on the 'REAL'!
By coincidence, your comment is exactly something I've been obsessing about lately.
The phrase, "Great minds..."
But we both know that's froth with unintentional humor.
