  • Martin un Genio del clarinete! En el Perú eres más que bienvenido!

  • Martin, a wonderful singer! And Aho wrote a concerto as though, for it seemed to me) I bought this concert on CD. I can not find it in the video.

    Martin is the best!

  • I find Martin Frost's work facinating and captivating, I have never heard anyone like him before. I inspire to be like him.

  • Yet another unique clarinetist. The clarinet is very flexible and it's amazing how he plays this.

  • Insane

  • Truly a great clarinetist - to needlessly reiterate a now very familiar observation. I remember many of all those late evenings during the early 90:s when we were practicing in adjacent rooms at the (Stockholm) conservatory, where his brother also studied; actually, some odd chromatic runs - part of some contemporary piece - that he practiced "almost eternally" on his clarinet are still engraved in my acoustic memory... Memories can be so vivid and precise, sometimes; spooky!

  • The best clarinetist of our times! Never stops to explore.

By the way... Concerto by Kalevi Aho is enormous...

  • Du är COOL!!! En dag kommer jag och snor ditt jobb:P

  • Okay, now that I know that piece is Vittorio Monti's Czardas, does anyone know where I can see this entire arrangement? I see it was composed for violin, but it's so fun with the two voices!

  • (The piece at 4:40)

  • Martin is very good! But why are they playing Hilborgs concerto in the begining? =)

  • There are still inspiring people out there. Good to know.

  • he's my idol

    he plays wonderful

  • This is not the Aho concerto. This piece is by Anders Hillborg

  • They are announcing Aho's clarinet concerto, and this video portraits Frost as a performer, that's why you see/hear Hillborg's concerto at the beginning - and a lot of Aho's music later!

  • An excellent video! I think Martin Frost repersents the future of classical music performance. The new concerto is beautiful, Kalevi Aho's music is really worth checking out.

  • We agree: he is the future of classical music performances - his is just unique an so inspiring!

  • He completely mastered the clarinet from my point of view.

  • he's fantastic!

  • Wow. No words to describe how awesome he is. Wow.

  • wow . this is wonderfull concert. And M. Frost he has great clarinetist.

  • This is a wonderful video. It's very respectful toward the beautiful instrument of Clarinet. Thank you for sharing.

  • Humbling doesn't begin to cover it.

  • does anyone know what piece he's playing at 4:43 around there. i think it's a violin piece..can't remember what it's called..can someone let me know? msg me plz..

    thanks

  • Vittorio Monti: Csárdás

  • Saw and heard him for the first time today in gothenburg playing a clarinet concerto of Crusell. It's safe to say that he masters the clarinet to perfection, awesome performence. Perhaps one should get tickets for the same repetoar in february ;P

  • wow.... this is really good!

  • Martin...Du e den bästa klarinettisten jag någonsin har hört...Du e min idol!!!=)

  • Martin is the best clarinet player ever.....and his from Sweden =)

  • very good sound and very good men....

  • inspiring!

There, I said it!

  • me podrias decir como sellama este hombre? y ya de paso el mejos clarinetista para ti de jazz ;) gracias !!

  • Fröst is amazing, but so is Aho. I think his concertos will be remembered as the best from this period.

  • Awsome, I am not suprised by his skill. He better have been good to be able to be on T.V. Or at least show his skills to be impressive somehow

  • see metin efe

  • Wow, he's amazing, what a staccatto at higher registers, waw:) and sound nice nice. His talent is rly impressive and the way at which he does things, nice moves. This is one of the best movies about clarinet concert, clarinet player, composers @ youtube.

    Just something:"WAUW"

  • He's amazing! OMG! WOW! And I've never heard of people dancing. It's his own thing and i think it's neat!

  • I agree, he is just amazing!

  • it's just his style. that actually differentiated him from many other clarinettists. and he is truly amazing, since that dancing doesn't mess up his embouchure or tone.

  • your amazing! whats with the dancing...?

  • if that lame dancing helps him play like that... then keep it up.

  • Why does he have to act the goat?

  • this is so cool. i love how pros can make the clarinet sound so bold and not all ugly. im not quiting till i sound like that.but ive only been playing for almost 3 years and to sound that good takes a long time

  • me too, he is jut amazing, what a great inspiring performer...

  • I love Martin Fröst... xD

  • Thank you clariperu for posting this. It is bold and fresh, and the Aho is FANTASTIC.

  • For a moment I thought Mr Bean had arrived

  • really cool!!!!!

  • cool

  • WoW, im in the 7th grade and im JUST learning those notes,

WoW i want the notes on paper so i can try! :D o is datta Bb or an Eb clarinet?

  • B flat. Good luck & keep at it! :)

  • i really love how he can connect feeling, soul and music together. it all falls into place. well done you truly are a great clarinetist! [and inspiring as well]

  • heh, his hands make the clarinet look so small. = ) Nice Vid, thanks for posting it.

  • I love clarinet!

  • good player. but whats all that stuff at the start!!?!

    the doyle!!

  • I think if you say "Martin Fröst is fantasic" or "amaizing" or "great" or whatever, nothing is enough :) He is a king, I thought.

  • Great work!!!

  • You seem to be Martin`s real fan also :-D

By the way, his new album with Nielsen`s and Aho`s concertos is almost released.

I also recorded Aho concerto, but not that one with BBC...

...few months ago he did it with Swedish radio orchestra, so I have that one.

    Really a major work...

  • well, I'm a fan of good musicians, and since I play clarinets, Martin is one of them. Nice to 'talk' to you Gigolio!

  • ...yes, of course I have listen to Robert Spring also, but...

...only dry technic, and that`s all.

and Martin has better technic, and he sound the best!!!!

How many Martin`s album`s have you heard there...

...for an example, in his album "Close up" is presentet sauch amazing tecnic, that it is unbelieveble (A)

...but of course, Robert Spring is also a great major player, respect ;-)

  • well, I have all his discs, even the live performance of this Aho concerto, recorded live by the BBC (the world premiere). Great piece, great soloist, a great inspiration...sorry Bob!

  • Robert Spring is the best clarinet player ever

  • man, Bob always play the same shit. Have you ever hear him playing Mozart, Brahms, or Copland with any MAYOR orchestra? Sorry but I cannot even compare Frost and Bob - the first one is far, far better.

  • Martin is no doubt the best clarinet player ever!!!

  • what an inspiration...thanks for posting this video.

  • great, great, what an original performer.

  • i like!

  • He is one of the best for sure, and by far the most original.

  • the best clarinetist of the world

  • did he write the dancing too?

  • No Suckiesn, he explains that he worked with coreographers and other artists to create his projects.

  • I think he is the best clarinet performer in the world

  • Thats quite a bold statement. There are some other VERY good players out there. The tip of the iceberg is Larry Combs, Stanley Drucker, Sabine Meyer, Karl Leister, etc..

  • Yes, but where Frost really succeeds is originality. He combined dance and theater with music. Anytime you can combine different art forms together, good things usually happen.

  • agreed!

  • you are welcome!

  • What a great film. I was at the premier and it was brilliant! really interesting to hear them talk about it, thankyou
