it was actually thousands of people who contacted NBC and it was justly removed because it scared young children. The few knuckleheads who claimed it displayed violence against women were emphasized because it made the removal worth talking (whining) about.

Funny, the woman who did the commercial (American 5,000 meter champion) was amazed when she was told that the ad promoted "violence against women". I think it is a hoot, and a tribute to the old 'slasher' movies, with a twist

NBC pulled this ad because 200 people (out of a nation of 260 million) complained. Nike was satirizing the typical slasher flick, where a defenseless woman gets carved up. But in Nike's ad, the woman is buff and able to outrun her attacker. Despite this positive message, a lot of clueless people attacked Nike for exploiting women's fears, when it was the other way round.
