I don't believe the place is haunted but the grotto itself is fascinating. It's either just a folly built by a former landowner or something very old indeed.

Its amazing, I think it was an old freemason initiation centre, there is lots of cult symbolism around, and images making reference to societies such as the masons.

This is a fantastic venue to visit. It costs just £2.50 and there is also a small museum, a shop, and a coffee room. See their website.
