see...i didn't really like either of them as s/b or u/s because they had to imitate the principle, and it wasn't really them. however, when they were lead, oh my gosh, they just killed it. both were so amazing and wonderful. i loved them!!! they are soo great!!!!!!!! i can't even describe...just AHHH!!! haha. however, Eden is my number one Elphaba for reasons i'd be MORE THAN HAPPY to explain if asked. This is hard, because Caissie & Eden are my 2 favourite Elphaba's. My opinion is that Caissie is a better 1st act Elphaba and Eden is a better 2nd act Elphaba. Both are amazing, but Caissie has the goofyness needed in the first act and Eden had the angryness needed in the second act. So that's what I think. Both are 100 times better than Idina!

IMO Caissie is better, she has this youthful sound to her voice, and it is higher in pitch so it sounds a bit more witchy, which i think is more suited to the part. Eden can get very nasal, and I think that shows bad technique...Just my opinion.

Caissie's voice has come light years since this, or, maybe, it's just better live. Everyone I've ever talked to at a live performance is blown away by her. I think she has enough texture in her voice while ALSO maintaining a voice that is believable based on what we've heard of Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West.

I've seen the show 5 times (4 with Eden and once with Caissie) and I've got tickets to two more shows April 20 and May 11 (Meagan's last), and I'm praying that they replace Caissie with Teal on one or both performances! People have to realize that the show just isn't as good with Caissie as Elphaba. She just not a right fit for this role. You need a more powerful voice and hearing Teal's DG audio... it sounds she can do it.

Even from the beginning Eden was better. Not that I hate Caissie or anything but her voice seems kind of scratchy and raspy. Now, I havn't seen her live, but even when I do, I know I will still like Eden better. Call me biased but there is just something about Eden's portrayal of Elphie that I can really relate to. And who could forget that voice. I'm sure Caissie is good because otherwise she wouldn't have been cast, but then again it is all a matter of perspective.

Well, Eden definitely is NOT the worst. It's okay if you don't like her voice, but her voice isn't bad. I don't like Caissie's voice, but it's not necessarily bad. I don't like how she sounds "witchy" though. Because I don't think that she should. But that's just me. And Cassidy Janson's voice is too soft if you ask me. But I do like her.

I don't mean to offend ANYONE's opinion at all. But this is mine:

Eden is just Eden. Her voice is much easier to listen to then Caissie's. But I think they're both too extreme. Eden sounds too mature for Elphaba [who is now just reaching her coming-of-age stage] and Caissie... well she sounds like a whiney little girl. Caissie's second [bring me] "down" was atrocious.

My personal favorite Elphaba is Julia Murney because she sounds JUST like Elphaba would [imo].

But yes Eden is way better.

I agree that Eden's voice is mature, but I think it's right. But I'm going to talk about Julia Murney really quick because you brought her up. I think Julia's AWESOME because she's unique. I saw her live; she was my second one (I saw Eden first!). And I've never heard anyone sound even remotely similar to Julia. I think she rocks too!

In my opinion...Caissey has more control ver her voice...which for this song sounds brilliant...her young sounding voice suits elphaba as most of the show is of her as a young woman. Although Eden has alot more power...her riffs do not always seem to sound in keeping with the rest...both are amazing in their own way is my point.
