so i was at school and someone was getting sent to the office. at my schhol you have to callthe office to tell them and we where all shocked when she said " hold him please. so we kept working but about 2 minuets later the alarms went off.
That is the Type of Alarm my High School had, but the horns were much louder and were non stop. My elementary school had the simplex 4040 but it was extremely loud and had a metal on metal sound. Nice vid man keep it up.
I feel your pain as, I had the exact same fear growing up throughout my school years. After graduating, I thought I was out if the woods, but I became an electrician. Guess what I deal with at least on a monthly basis? So to get over my fear, I pulled a Wheelock NS out of the junk heap at one job and took it home. I wired it up to a DeWalt battery and a toggle switch and let her rip. I did this a number of times, and each time I slowly felt my fear dissolve away. Now they don't both
i remember when i was in elementary school the principal had to come warn me before any fire drill they used to really piss me off and wats more they always went off in my favorite lessons:\
Whenever my principal Ms. McCloud would announce in the morning that we were going to have a fire drill that day, I'd be crying at my each one of my teachers, telling then I was scared and didn't want to have the fire drill, I would even go to the principal herself and tell her not to do it, she tried over and over to comfort me and tell me it wont be bad, But that just made me cry harder, My mom knew about my fear of loud things, and I know I must have caused her torture over it....=*(***
That's the same Simplex 2901-9806+2903 horn/strobe my old Elementary school (grades 1-3) still have at the Gilmore School/Gilmore Academy, only they were in continuous. Yours is in March Time obviously
Oh Gosh, I hate that thing!..it just brings back so many painful memories of my elementary school days, that buzzer, that light, THAT HORRIBLE FLASHING LIGHT!!..UGHHHHHHH!!! (bends down and cries!)
(Looking at that red *MONSTER* on the floor and sighs in relief) It wont haunt me anymore!, It's dead!, all those childhood years of fear from you!!! You didn't let me learn my ABC's in peace !, UGH!!!..(Looks at the owner of the system....I smirk at him and give him $500 for shooting his system and I apologize, But i HAD to do this!, I had to show how I felt!!!)...Thank you for letting me vent dude..HEEHEE =)
Dude!, My childhood fear was just revived!, I remember when I was about 7, my elementary school had that exact fire system and I was HORRIFIED by it, I cried so hard when I knew a fire drill was coming, My teachers had to comfort me all through the fire drill, I HATED that strobing light panel thing, I imagined it as a monster wanting to scare me by sounding that blasted alarm, I hated going to school just because of that thing!!, AND NOW IT"S BACK!!...UGHHH!!!..DIE YOU BLASTED THING! **shoots**
@Dingle294 Yeah, To this day, that son of a ditch is still around me, and in my head, Not to long ago, My mom had hip surgery and went to a rehab center for therapy, I would visit my mom while she was there for 1 week, wellll, there was a waiting room where I could go and get on a computer to surf the web, Little did I know, that when I went in the room and looked around the room, there in the corner of the room on the wall was...THAT BLASTED FIRE ALARM SYSTEM again!, UGHH!!!!....
@Dingle294 That EXACT same system!, I'm not lying, the second i saw it, I immediately got the same feeling of panic that I had when I was in school, I felt nauseated!, but THEN I walked up to it..(I Actually did this!) and said this, "You crazy son of a ditch!, You came back to haunt me didn't you??...Well, IM OLDER NOW!, and I wont let you haunt me ANYMORE!, YOU HEAR ME!!??!??" After I said that I felt like weight was lifted off me and i felt much better, Moral of story, I FACED MY ENEMY n WON
@MrChevy7 Good job. Well I never thought much of the alarm, and I never yelled at one either, but that kind was in my elementry school and scared the hell out of me. It's because of THAT system with THAT noise are why I hated fire drills so much and I become uncomfortable whenever I knew one was going to happen even when the alarms wern't that loud.
@Dingle294 then we's have it, and when it was all over, I'd feel better, but then I'd get that fear again when I'd see that red thing again, after the fire drill ended, that strobe would flash intermently and silently for a while, and I'd cry all over again when that would happen. even in my last year in that school (5th Grade) That thing frightened me, but not so much then it did the 1st time i saw and heard it. Now, 22 years later, I do NOT miss that alarm, I miss the school, but not the alarm
@Dingle294 So I can say now, that i'm very relieved that that horrible chapter of my childhood fear of my life is over, I Miss being a kid, and I miss school, But I Don't miss that red monster. I did go back to my school to vote for our next president. and when I went to the cafeteria area, where 6 of those blasted things were there, I saw that they had done some modifications to the system, Like the original one had broken..all i can say to that is...GREAT!!, GOOD RIDDENCE!! =D
@MrChevy7 Do you have Asperger Syndrome or sensory issues? I have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at 10 years old. I am now in middle school and suffer through fire drills. I can't stand the anticipation. And I especially can't stand the Spectralert Advances in High Volume Code 3. so far this year I have missed 17 school days in total just because I couldn't stand the anxiety.
@int3ll3r0n I have never heard of Asperger Syndrome in my life, but I guess i did have very sensative ears that made me get so scared of fire drills, it was horrible for me, and the IRONIC thing about me now is that i am a huge NASCAR fan, and I absolutely love the sound of loud race cars roaring by a race track, I went to the Daytona 500 and a worker that was near a race car turned it on for me, BOY that engine sound was sweet!, It did scare me when he turned it on for the 1st time, not much tho
@MrChevy7 Also funny because I am a big fan of NASCAR too and I once saw a race live and nothing there bothered me. I also do work for my Light and Sound club at school and the loud music and the huge speakers don't bother me at all.
Where it only activates a specific zone, so you can test certain alarms without sounding the entire system. EX:Somebody is testing a single zone in a big bilding, so he puts it into walk test so people on other floors can continue their activities.
That did not sound like a fire drill. That sounded more along the lines of a car horn.

Is the fire drill button a switch connected to the pull station terminals for Zone 1?
PivotMasterD1 3 years ago
the fire drill button is wired to the board as a button circuit. he programmed it to set off the alarm when the button was pressed and held.
