It is a wonderful country now- with the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world(see wiki). The war is a long time ago, resentment is no more. Its a country worth visiting.
if you look at my videos, you will see us driving around this very area (a couple of blocks behind where the hand grenade nearly takes out a building)
I must post some videos driving over the same bridge now. i will try to do so this weekend
What is the point of a fight? the South Vietnam Government and its existence is totally relies on US support, both money and weapon. Even the US themselves had left in 1973 after it became clear that there is no solution to the war, leaving the Vietnamese fighting each other. Why do we kill our own people? go ask your mom!
i know more about the history than you apparently, because the ARVN generals had ordered the troops around saigon to hold position in hope of giving the government enough time to negotiate a truce with the NVA. It wasn't fight or die, because they all ended up surrendering when they recieved the order.
@parkinglotnghts no u don't they were ordered to fall back around Saigon because it was easyer to Defend because there was less ground to cover than the central Highlands.
Great viedo it show real historical facts about how the war was actully fought by the ARVN. ALl of those that thought they knew everythng about the ARVN they should really watch this one.

Wow,
I live just 1 mile from this bridge (now called Saigon Bridge). Just near the end of the clip you see on the east side of the bridge,
some US erected buildings. These are all still here!

The ones just by where
the hand grenade goes off are now used to store army trucks, and the ones
slightly further east are storage depots for Saigon beer! This whole area is
now one of the most exclusive suburbs of HCMC, called An phu, or tau dien.
Huge villas, international super markets, gourmet food shops, international
schools and a huge ex pat community. You even occasionaly see porsches, ferraris,
bentleys, rolls royces and lamborghinis driving around here!
