    anyway i wanted the cheapest easiest method i could find .. using peach juice crystal packets.. the kind with sugar with it.. dumped like 3 cups of more sugar in a 3 liter jug.. added a pack of fleischmanns dry active yeast.. buck fiddy at super market .. pack of 3 just used 1

    added water...

    'on day 3 now.. i heard it produces 70 percent of the alcohol in the first 3 days

  • @MaTchBoOkPoEt Im sure that would work, but its definitely a slow process. I work in a Lab and used a large filter called a "Sharkskin filter" after doing it, I wouldnt recommend filtering the last couple of inches at the bottom...it is almost pure yeast, and it would have took HOURS to filter out if I would have had the patience to do it.

  • additional tips for the lazy drunk that wants better shit. wait an extra 2 weeks till all the crap settles to the bottom. carefully pour into a new bottle. i use old soda bottles. when you start getting to the sludge, stop pouring. cap the new stuff and drink up or save up for lean times. i also like a higher sugar mix. about 1/2 cup for a 2 liter soda bottle. baking yeast works fine.

I got done with a lab on yeast and thought "wait... this is all u have to do to make alcohol right?!?! can't i just make my own booze at home instead of spending a ton and trying to get a source?" then i looked it up and bam started making my own cheap ass wine.

  • Keep in mind that when your preparing the yeast it is going to smell pretty bad, reminds me of my grandma making her amazing bread...

  • It stinks for about 3 days, then the smell goes away (Or maybe i just got used to it) I used 2 cans of grape juicy juice in a gallon jug and it worked out great. figured a super easy way to get the wine out of the jug without disturbing the mash, so my bottles are chrystal clear and no bad smell. Thanks a ton for the info man.

  • @66jesko U didnt disinfect everything properly or you didnt disinfect anything at all.That happened to me as well the first time.The water jug,and everthing that your'e gonna use has to be disinfected with bleach and hot water.Also its best if you boil the water that your'e gonna be using and then let it cool down to room temp before mixing everything up in the jug.If you do everything right it will taste close to the kind they sell at the stores.I have made 4-5 batches already and taste yummy..

  • for those if you beggineres out there I recommend you not to use the welchs grace concentrate.I made it just like in this vid and it ended tasting like shit.It tastes so bitter that i have to sip on it slowly.Although the smell of the alcohol is really strong as soon as you open it.Also if you do make it like this dont forget to rack it after its done fermenting(balloon goes down).Siphon it with a clear holoow tube onto another container so you wont frink the dead yeast at the bottom..peace.

  • @esechulo254 I found a much easier way to get the wine out without disturbing the mash on the bottom. Put a large bowl in the sink and (Slowly) put the jug up on the edge of the sink and stab a small hole in the jug with a steak knife about a half inch from the bottom. it took about an hour for the wine to run out, but the mash in the bottom of the jug wasnt disturbed at all. wine was clear as glass and no smell. then pour into bottles with a filter and a funnel (I couldnt resist using a filter)

  • @beanhill74 Yea but I am going to keep using the same jug.Once I get to the bottom about 2 inches from the gunk I stop siphoning and a little bit does go into the clean wine but not that much.You can always siphon it a second time or just not drink the remaining gunk at the bottom.I can now make the wine taste close to the wine they sell at stores.It doesnt taste bad anymore.I dont pour it into bottles or filter it.I keep it in the water jug in the fridge.My parents dont mind at all.Im 19 btw...

  • 2:00 why do you have to store in the fridge for 2-3 days after balloon sinks? Isn't it "ready to drink" after fermentation is over?

    Also, I would mention siphoning or filtering the drink mix into a new container--you'll have nasty old yeast sediment on the bottom of the first container.

  • I myself been using a 5 gal bucket that I put the normal lid on and tape the sides up so no air gets in. Then have a small hole in it for my tube to go in then that leads to a cup of water. My god I go through sugar like no tomorrow. Makes it hella strong. Like the vid it helped out a friend that was to dumb to understand me. So i showed vid and he is making as we speak.

  • i have been making homemade wine for years and what works so much better than a balloon or anything else is a ping pong ball. it works like a pressure relief valve and fits perfect on your average gal. milk jug. the ball will lift ever-so slightly as the pressure increases and settle back down into place almost imediatly.

    No, a balloon isn't necessary. I'm been making this for months. Just loosen the cap on whatever jug/bottle you're using a half turn. As long as the carbon dioxide get's out, you're fine otherwise you'll have a big mess. Another thing, if you add another half cup of sugar you'll up you're gravity and about 3% more ABV. There are many recipes out there. This is a good one for some quick hooch. Last thing, most of the fermentation will peak at 5 days, enjoy sooner.

  • When it's done DON'T FORGET TO FILTER IT WITH A FUNNEL AND A COFFEE FILTER. Filter as least a few times to get the dead yeast out. Then go to seniors center and pour it in their prune juice!!! :D

  • The yeast settles to the bottom. Yeast contains vitamin B and is good for you. Don't worry, unfiltered beer is the same, bottle with a small amount of yeast still suspended in the beer.

  • Followed instructions except I used a Glad baggie with pinholes and wire twists, I didn't have ballons or rubberbands,...3 8oz. glasses a minute later, no buzz.

  • The reason for the balloon is expansion without allowing contaminants into the product.

    It is essentially a "poor man's" fermentation air lock if you want something to compare it with.

  • actually its just to stop air from getting in because if air mixes in during fermentation u'll end up with vinegar instead of alcohol...

  • The fermentation lock or airlock is used in beer brewing and wine making which allows carbon dioxide released by the beer to escape the fermenter, while not allowing air to enter the fermenter, thus avoiding oxidation. The reason for sterilization in the brewing process is to kill germs wild yeast which can be present in the air. They can cause problems in the yeast as well as create off flavors in the finished product.

  • @4234josh you can use orange juice, etc., the yeast consumes fermentable sugars turning them into c02 (carbon dioxide, or carbonation) and alcohol. Certain sugars are more fermentable than others. They bend light in different directions, scientific study if you're interested. There are only two types of yeast (I think)

    one jailhouse brewer (O.J., cup of sugar and baking yeast) claims about 30% in his orange juice concoction made on the TV show Lock Up Raw

  • @4234josh Also powdered priming sugars (used specifically for brewing) are better than granulated table sugar as they are more fermentable. It is also important to heat the brew to a boil to sterilize, remove germs and impurities prior to fermentation. Take a specific gravity reading prior to adding yeast, then when the fermentation air lock has stopped bubbling after (1 week?) take a specific gravity reading again to determine approximate alcohol content

    tisk tisk, if your yeast is still doing its thing, and you put it in a cold area like your fridge, you will kill them or slow them down. if they are done producing alcohol, and you want to chill it before you drink it, you should be okay.

Ive never made wine before but ive brewed alot of beer and it seems if you used this method you would end up with a alot of yeast residue on the bottom and the top stuck to the edges which i wouldnt want to drink (im not saying your method doesnt work) and also I would of added in your video to make sure that everything that comes in contact with the juice should be sanitized , like the jug and the balloon etc..123daydream was right too.

  • taste better if glass jug is used and u cut small hole in baloon and stick clear vinyl tubing in the hole and put a rubber band around it to seal it and run the tubing from container to a glass of water, this allows gases to escape but doesnt allow air to come back in

  • basic laws of pressure makes the balloon work. Pressure's pushing out the holes so nothing can get back in.
