  • Many ppl just assume dat these guys wouldn't dominate in the modern-day NBA. I disagree. Wilt was built like a Dwight Howard and Russell was a born winner. Maybe they dnt win as many MVP's/titles as they did but as far as their play, they'd still be superstars...I would've loved to c them play in the 90's era. Dat would've the most incredible basketball ever played.

  • I believe wilt chamberlain change the game of basketball...that's why the invent the 3 second rule

  • These two might be greater in terms of accomplishments, but a prime Olajuwon would crush them both one-on-one.

  • pu them in todays game bill - no rings, mvps no nothing ---- wilt same thing and about 12 rpg 20ppg

  • lol this is good but bills best celtics team is not in the top 10 all time!!!!!!!!

  • This makes me want to play NBA 2k12

  • Lol nice hat Bill

  • damn best documentary/interview ever

  • chamberlains such a fucking pimp...

  • wilts arms look bigger there then when he played.

  • 1:07 - 1:19 Three questions. How epic is that picture, is there a poster of it and where do I get it?

  • They paved the way for people of non white race to play the game with basketball

    period

  • I don't care what anyone says, to me, Wilt Chamberlain was the greatest basketball player of all time.

  • at times Bill laughs for no reason.

  • @armin38822 Beats never laughing at all :)

  • wilt would be a bench player in the 90's nba era with big men like hakeem

  • @TanvirulH Don't kid yourself. Wilt still has a massive size, strength, and agility edge over centers to this very day. We're talking a 7'1-2" high jumping sprinting good-at-everything athlete with a freak 7'8" wingspan. Ever since Wilt retired it has been continuously suggested by contemporary players, legends, and coaches that still are part of today's NBA, that he would be dominating the **** out of "today's" league. This was said in the 80's, the 90's, the '00's and it is still said today.

  • great

  • As I see it... The competerion back then... And now ... Wilt wouldn't have been as dominating now..as he was then

  • wen was dis interview released?? in the 70s?

  • @JzJzee no, 1993...

  • @JzJzee i think this was in the late 80s, early 90s

  • Wilt Chamberlain - best basketball player of all time!!

  • I love both of them and i am absolutely sure that they would be just as good or even better in today's basketball

  • wilt looks like he could still play

  • @doobiebrother2 Indeed, he looked good (in great shape) even at 60+ years old. He was a real specimen.

Rest in Peace big man, rest in peace.

  • Great interview with the 2 greatest big men ever! No disrespect to any 'big' man that's played in the last 40 years but none of them could have 'run' with these 2. Wilt and Bill were domination personified. The only fair match for either of them was each other.

  • Wilt would still average 50+ a night in the modern NBA

  • Comment removed

  • I hate it when old time players bullshit like that!

Wilt, you were a great player and athlete...but you averaged 50 points a game because everyone was 6 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter....ain't the case anymore

And Bill...8 championships in a row in a 25 team (or however many there were at the time of this interview) league? With athletes who are bigger, stronger and faster? PLEASE!!

Complete nonsense and they both know it!

  • @RobertBalto-well yao ming is a good 6 inches taller than most centers in the NBA. he was one of the best centers, but never the dominating player wilt was. you know why wilt chamberlain is at least 40 pounds heavier? because he stayed in the gym and worked out. with the training and nutrition nowadays, i'm pretty sure wilt can dominate dwight howard any day he wants (same goes to bill russell). not tryna start an argument but you have to respect what they did for the game.

  • @wallaceX2jc I understand what you're saying...but they're both being absurd with their claims...the idea that anyone would average 70 points a game or any team would win 11 championships in 13 seasons in today's game is complete nonsense. I think they would both be great players in today's game...but they wouldn't just steam-roll the competition like they claim they would. I think they're only talking like that because it's convenient that they can't be proven wrong.

  • @RobertBalto Perhaps they're tall claims, but even Walt Frazier has said that, with today's game style and rules, Wilt would average well over 70 a game. I wouldn't doubt it, considering even Phil Jackson has said that MJ would average 50 a game in today's NBA.

  • Ok running with that logic...the year that interview was taken Jordan was the scoring champion at around 30 ppg...so Wilt would be averaging 40 more points a game than Jordan at 70 ppg...which is 2.3 times more than Jordan.

So if in today's game Jordan is capable of averaging 50 a game...that would mean Wilt would be averaging 115 ppg...I don't know about you...but those numbers seem a little inflated to me hahaha

  • @RobertBalto How much of basketball do you actually know? There's too many factors and variables to just use incremental math to a scoring average to prove a point. In the end, you just have no idea how great Wilt was, or how great Russell's Celtics were. You don't have to take my word for it. Professional players, today and retired, all admit their greatness no matter what era they're put in, no matter what you say.

  • @shutterbugblues I'm not questioning their greatness...all I'm saying is 70 points a game is ABSURD...8 straight championships in a 29 team league is ABSURD...The Lakers teams of the 80's were awfully stacked and they never even managed to 3 peat, let alone 8 straight. They were great players, they would be great players in today's game...but there is a line.

  • @shutterbugblues As for Bill Russell's claims (winning the 8 championships in a row)...now this is not a perfect system as it doesn't account for some teams clearly being better than others....the probability of any one playoff team winning the championship is 1 in 16 (1/2 chance of winning each round...4 rounds to win)...so the chances of repeating that act 8 consecutive times becomes 1 in 4294967296...in other words very, VERY improbable.

  • @RobertBalto The laws of probabilities changes constantly with sport and it contains a lot of variables, you can't use it here. And if you want to speak of probabilities, the Celtics defied it. They EARNED those championships. Out of those 11 championships, 10 of them were decided on a game 7. Did you know that?

  • @shutterbugblues look it's not a perfect system but it's a enough that I feel I made a point. Yes the laws of probability change but even if I somehow adjusted it to take every possible factor into consideration...both achievements they pass off as being a given would work out to be VERY VERY VERY VERY unlikely!

  • Holy shit. Wilt is fit.

  • What a privileged to have been able to see them.

  • If wilt was a mean player he would've been the best. He didn't try as much he didn't knock down people he had respect and class. Live Long

  • How can you not love Bill Russell that laugh is infectious lol.

  • Old shool rules force you to bring your A game every time that is why I love streetball so much.We just have one rule-respect one another...and ofcourse travel etc.

  • Man, Wilt looks buff

  • I remember when Wilt passed how hard Russell took it. Great friends they were.

  • wilt wants to win against the celtics. but he wants to beat bill so bad that he forgot about his team.

  • ahmad rashad looks like zeke here

  • wilt = goat

  • I like that Wilt can take criticism. I have more respect for him just watching this interview.

  • watch?v=kB43A-ODuLc

3:15 Wilt Chamberlain at the top of the backboard

  • i'm actually surprised that 2 players this great can fit in the same room- how did they fit that amount of greatness in that little space is beyond me!

  • @joedumars0808 Soldiers need killer instinct, not athletes. They are not at war.

  • Comment removed

  • @joedumars0808 I see your point. I just think that the killer instinct idea in sports is a bad term. Wilt was not as competitive as a Bill Russell or a Michael Jordan. He wanted to win, but he did not NEED to win as it was for the other guys. Costas has never been a bulldog type of interviewer. I guess we can say he does not have the killer instinct as an interviewer, lol. :)

  • @MIKESOWELL haha well said, well said -- i felt bad for posting smack about the interview and wilt so i deleted the other posts. there was really no point to it, dont know why i got so worked up

  • what russell said at 3:25 was spot on. u dont just get good players to create a good team... u personally have to work with them to be better players...

  • scored 100 pts and shtuped 20,000 women

  • does anyone have the video of wilt's jersey being retired by the sixers?

  • does anyone have the video of wilt's jersey being retired by the sixers?

  • That's great to hear him talk about how important it was to him to be a skilled player and not just rely on his superior athletic abilities and god-given gifts to overwhelm other players. Duncan is more like Wilt than Shaq ever was.

  • Comment removed

  • @2enchant : You don't know what your talking about & if you gave all the GM's in the NBA a choice who would they have Lebron would be picked last.

  • wilt looks much younger that he is

and he's got to be like 60

  • Legends. Still love this post.

  • Funny how it's always that the older team was better...my oh my how in the heck has sports even lasted this long if the older teams are still so much better than now days.

  • Bill Russell has the most amazing laugh.....

  • russell, easily the greatest teammate of all time lols

mj easily the WORST teammate of all time lols

go read jordan rules ya pussi ass stupid pussi boi loser lols sorri fag but yea losl on offense of coures lols ;.

  • Wilt Chamberlain = GOAT

  • @TheQuiggz Excuse me?!

  • wilt chamberlain=greatest of all time

  • Yea right, no way they win 11 championships in this day and age. Plus, chicago bulls would of handled his celtics, Jordan would school Russells and he wouldn't be a legend anymore, and Chamberlain with all due respect, competition wasn't as good as it is now. my respect to both of these legends but times have changed.

  • @BMWGIO nope. those celtics teams win 11 today.

  • @BMWGIO

bhwhaah lols no faggit losl NOT EVEN CLOSE U LOSER LOLS

auerbach and russell both said theyd have DESTROYED N CREAMED all over jordans tiny lil dicked faggity lil pussi loser ass lols

sorri fag but no lols ;. no offense of course but yea lols ;.

  • @ry3304 you talking like you watched these guys played. you didn't. quit pretending like you know the game you espn nut huger. You're like the kids today who think Charles Barkley is nothing more than a fat guy talking sports but he was at times the 2nd best player during the Jordan era. The Jordan Bulls and Russel Celtics were in different era's. Don't try to disrespect one or the other like a fucking 9yr old.

  • Bill = champion

    Will = Superstar

  • Chamberlain looks like a dude in his 40s... not late 50s when he did this interview!

  • When was this intweview? Year

  • @MrTveit14 1997

  • I only wonder how many of their 11 World Championships from 1957-1969 the Celtics would have won if Rochester would have double-crossed Red Auerbach!

  • @Jiltedin2007 what happened with Rochester

  • @ZipperZappleZ I don't know, but back in the 1956 NBA Draft, the Celtics worked their way to the #2 Overall Draft Pick, with Rochester having the #1 Pick. So, Red Auerbach had to "Wine and Dine" the Rochester Royals from preventing them from drafting Bill Russell(Who was the top choice in the NBA Draft). So, in the 1956 NBA Draft, Rochester selected Sihugo Green with the #1 Overall Pick, and the Celtics selected Bill Russell(From the St. Louis Hawks) with the #2 Overall Pick.

  • @Jiltedin2007 lol that's like Joe Montana going 89th in the NFL draft

  • @ZipperZappleZ Probably, I don't know.

  • @ZipperZappleZ The Rochester Royals franchise moved over the years because of low attendance and financial problems. These are their locations and team names over the years.

    Franchise History

    Rochester Royals (1945/46 - 1956/57)

    Cincinnati Royals (1957/58 - 1970/71)

    Kansas City-Omaha Kings (1972/73 - 1974/75)

    Kansas City Kings (1975/76 - 1984/85)

    Sacramento Kings (1985/86 - Present)

  • @geocgeo with those markets no wonder.... what's yer point

  • @ZipperZappleZ You asked "what happened with Rochester" so I gave you the answer. THAT'S MY POINT

  • @geocgeo oh sorry I didn't know you were jiltedin2007.

Now that makes sense yeah Rochester ain't exactly Madison Square & if you think about it Sacramento is small town too. Their days with Divac & Bibby were awesome, always thought 2002 refs threw the series.. then the Doneghy scandal two or three years later.. he fingered most of the refs in the league & while Stern denied it, I bet if we were fly on the wall we'd know that's really why the NBA started calling fouls these last 3 or 4 years

  • @ZipperZappleZ I'm not jiltedin2007 you must be out of your mind....LOL

  • @geocgeo oooooooooohhhhh just read the personals.........now I gotcha........ that's cool anyhow it is what it is, I just like HOOPS wherever and whenever!!

  • @ZipperZappleZ jiltedin2007 is a celtics hater and you're a fool if you think I'm jiltedin2007.

  • @geocgeo calm yerself you'll blow a gasket. I couldn't care less if you're jilted or not

  • Thanks for proving you made an ass of yourself....Have a great day.

  • @geocgeo lmao yer so touchy now we know yer secret identity. It's jilted.

You are secretly a Lakers homer and that's just amazing.

    Jerry West 4 EVER

  • @ZipperZappleZ ...ZipperZappleZ..Change your name to Zipper head you fool...

Me a Lakers fan?..Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

    You're a comedian..Excuse me..You're a stupid comedian.

  • @geocgeo says ALL HAIL JAMES WORTHY

  • @ZipperZappleZ Worthy was arrested in Houston and charged with 2 counts of solicitation of prostitution. Worthy called a local escort service requesting 2 women be sent to meet him in his hotel room. Police had already shut down the escort service, and they instead sent 2 undercover vice squad officers to the hotel to meet him. A month later, Worthy pleaded no contest to both charges. He was sentenced to 1 year of probation, fined $1,000 and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service..ROFL

  • @geocgeo yes, I know. Which makes me wonder why yer such a huge fan, Jilted

  • It's great that they were friends at the end...I wish they didn't have that spat after the 1969 NBA finals...they didn't talk again for 1993!

  • I can't believe there was only 3 years between them

Wilt looks young enough to be Russell's son

  • @Paragon231 Sex makes you younger!

  • great upload LD. Love it.

  • Chamberlain ARGUABLY NOT ABSOULUTELY the GOAT.

  • the big wilt he was ahead of his time bro

  • @princexmilano time still hasn't caught up!

  • Was waiting for next part thanks for posting this

  • No problem Colton. Thanks for watching.

  • @LakersDynasty42 np Wilt was a very intelligent guy had recently bin watching his interviews and its funny cause most of the things he says pretty much defends and drowns out everything the haters say about him now.very ahead of his time.
