I have this exact guitar! The Highway 1 with the humbucker. Put a Seymour Hotrails in the neck recently so might post a vid of it. Excellent playin btw. Any chanch you could post a vid with a slowed down version of the legato run? Would be much appreciated
the album version is played by john Sykes (thin Lizzy) but because of Adrian Vandenberg joining the band he played the solo on the single (compare it to the single How Long by Vandenberg and notice the style). Vivian Campbell joined the band after Vai left (somewhere in the ninetees (?)
I think Sykes is awesome. One thing of note though. John did not play the Lead on Here I Go Again, Album Version. Whitesnake 1987. I allways thought he did but he was fired before he laid that down. I listen to it now and realize its so NOT a sykes solo. Its actually Adrian Vandenburg or possibly Vivian Cambell, Hired Hacks that they are. There is plenty of interviews with John that state this. He did write the song with coverdale and did all those awesome rythem tracks.
eat dog dung for actually thinking reb beach recorded the solo, and waylay00 is wrong to, it was john sykes who recorded every guitar part on the 1987 whitesnake SOTN album.
Actually waylay00 is correct - Adrian Vandenberg DID do the guitar for this version of Here I Go Again which appeared on the album as David had fallen out with John (again) by that stage, although Sykes did record all the other tracks on the 1987 album. The other "Radio Edit" version of Here I Go Again; released the same year featured a session guitarist called Dan Huff.
