The song about her not wanting to be attracted to the guy, as in embrace (kiss). So she puts up this mental shield, "hope he can't see what i'm thinking" but it is of no use anyway, because she drops that thought and goes with lust instead, not SEX!!!!!!!

EVeryone needs to calm down. Maybe you don't think it's about sex, maybe someone else does. When I herd this song , I thought of it as a sexual song too. Everyone see's things differently.

How could anyone think this is about sex? Taylor wrote this about Jake Owen in November of 2006 after she opened for him (Jake played after her) in a BAR called Duke's (she described that night in one of her MySpace Blogs). Nothing ever happened between them, though. In that blog, she goes on to say that she met him before the show and had to leave to get on a plane to Toronto after he played the first song of his set. People need to do some research before posting BS, seriously.
@chelley64 I think you misunderstood what I said. What I meant to say was that NOTHING happened between them and she IS NOT fantasizing about having sex, either. She's fantasizing about kissing him and being with him. The 'bad idea' part stems from the fact that she was 16 at the time and he was 25.

@chelley64 I know how old she is now, she was 16 when she wrote it and that's what counts. Even if she did think about stuff like that, she would never put that out there, trust me. She's a smart girl, and she certainly wouldn't refuse to talk about that subject in interviews, while at the same time putting sexual content into her songs. She also knows that there are lots of kids who come to her shows and look up to her and they certainly don't need to hear about that...

"Take me down, baby bring on the thunderstorm" makes A LOT more sense than "Take me down bring on the movie star." treating her like a movie star would be lifting her up. "Take me down" implies some sort of pain... "I don't need paper lanterns" is what leads up to that line... why would she not need paper lanterns if she wanted him to treat her like a movie star? You're wrong.

EVeryone needs to calm down. Maybe you don't think it's about sex, maybe someone else does. When I herd this song , I thought of it as a sexual song too. Everyone see's things differently.

Its really honestly hard to tell if shes saying thunderstorm or movie star. I listened for thundetstorm, and thats what i heard. Then i listened for movie star, and i heard that too.

@chelley64 ... but you are right, of course you can make up whatever horsesh*t interpretation of the lyrics you want. I'm pretty sure I can take the sweetest song in the world and make it sound dirty in my mind, but that doesn't reflect the reality of the song or the person who wrote it.

How could anyone think this is about sex? Taylor wrote this about Jake Owen in November of 2006 after she opened for him (Jake played after her) in a BAR called Duke's (she described that night in one of her MySpace Blogs). Nothing ever happened between them, though. In that blog, she goes on to say that she met him before the show and had to leave to get on a plane to Toronto after he played the first song of his set. People need to do some research before posting BS, seriously.

@chelley64 I think you misunderstood what I said. What I meant to say was that NOTHING happened between them and she IS NOT fantasizing about having sex, either. She's fantasizing about kissing him and being with him. The 'bad idea' part stems from the fact that she was 16 at the time and he was 25.
Anyone who is making this crap up couldn't possibly know Taylor or know anything about her.

@chelley64 I know how old she is now, she was 16 when she wrote it and that's what counts. Even if she did think about stuff like that, she would never put that out there, trust me. She's a smart girl, and she certainly wouldn't refuse to talk about that subject in interviews, while at the same time putting sexual content into her songs. She also knows that there are lots of kids who come to her shows and look up to her and they certainly don't need to hear about that...

Exhibit A: I fell in love in an empty bar (if you didn't research it, which people don't generally do, it sounds suspicious)

@chelley64 I can hear. She clearly says "bring on the thunderstorm." "Take me down, baby bring on the thunderstorm" makes A LOT more sense than "Take me down bring on the movie star." treating her like a movie star would be lifting her up. "Take me down" implies some sort of pain... "I don't need paper lanterns" is what leads up to that line... why would she not need paper lanterns if she wanted him to treat her like a movie star? You're wrong.

@chelley64 I have been a part of many conversations about this. Thunderstorm IS disputed to. I am NOT the only one who thinks it's thunderstorm, and I don't appreciate the implication that I am or the attempt to make me look like an idiot who has no idea what she is talking about.
LOOK more people who think what I do! By the way, the seventh post down has the lyrics I think it is. They make the most sense

@chelley64 yeah I think she says "movie score" because why would she need a movie star if she has this guy already? I don't really think she's trying to have a threesome in this song. anyway, a movie's score is like its theme song so i think that's what she is referring to -- or like when the movie ends at happily ever after and the people "ride off into the sunset" she's just kinda saying it's time to get out of the bar... hence the next few lines.

I definetly think that's what she's saying too because it makes more sense than movie star or thunderstorm plus it rymes with floor. I think there's a couple other lyrics that are wrong too but who cares, it's hard to hear and it's not the version she released anyway. I like this version better! Also, I just wanted to say, I could see why someone would think it was aboutsex but I don't think she meant it that way and even if she did, who cares? It was written about Jake Owen. She opened for him in a bar called duke's or something like that in Portland, Oregon in 2006. She wrote a blog about how much she adored Jake... Google Taylor Swift Jake owen if you want to see for your own eyes.

After hearing this version and the version on the album I've come to the conclusion that this song is about Taylor fantasizing about a boy. Not just any boy, a boy that makes her feel every emotion in the book. In the beginning she says "I really wish you would..." and then she gets into it. She wishes this guy would do this. guys neither version is better. taylor swift is too old to be singing about paper lanterns and falling in love in ballrroms. the lyrics in the new one are more mature and meaningful, and this version is just more catchy. ill admit the one on speak now could be a little more like thsi one musical wise, but lyrically the new one is 10x better
