@ethereals0unds I think some people don't realize the body just doesn't have the capacity to constantly toss around huge weight. Shoulders are easily damaged, and testosterone levels drop each year after age 18. The ability te retain mass gets harder and harder, so you basically HAVE TO lower the poundage of weight and do more reps with less weights to try and achieve the same burn. People complaining about Van Damme don't have a friggin clue what happens to the body as you get older.

There are exceptions like some Strongmen who have some impressive physiques. Id rather look amazing and still strong than look like shit and post world records in power lifting.

@WanderingTwin1 U think heavy lifting means anything?? Im 5"7 with 17 Inch arms. My bicep curls,concentration curls,tricep extensions etc.. are done with only 15.5 pounds (7.5kg). Any geek can swing heavy weights up & down. Correct form is more important. Yeah, everybody I know can lift heavier than me, even females. But my arms are double theirs. Technique, speed, control & isolation is more important than weight. The only people who need to lift heavy are pro bodybuilders.

Maybe im just a freak but then again my training partners experience similar results to me. Heres a tip, a single rep should take 3 seconds lift, 3 seconds squeeze & 3 seconds release. If ur reps are done faster done 9 seconds u are just tossing weights up & down. Whatever makes u happy.

He just had a nice shape but most of his weight training was for functional speed & power to compliment his martial arts. If a martial artist gets too big they start sacrificing speed & agility for size & strength. Im at that stage now where my kickboxing has become retarded coz im too big for my frame & it slows me down & makes me stiff. I need to cut weight, I guess I need to drop my curls down to 4kg :p
@realityIZanILLUSION actually you do need to lift heavier to gain size, if you lift small weight you will condition your muscles and tone them (not bad at all) but they wont grow as much as someone who lifts heavier. Btw, becareful with creatine, that stuff makes you retain water in your body. My cousin was taking (purple k) which i believe is a derivative of creatine but more concentrated and he gained alot of weight which caused him to get stretch marks.
@Bilderbergz People can put on nice size without lifting heavy, like me.. Everybody is different. The only time it is required to lift heavy is if u are training for strength or have reached a plateau. Yeah Creatine does make your muscles retain water which adds to the pumped look. But it also boosts muscle performance & allows me to really push my reps & isolation without cramping. It also helps with strength. Need to cycle with it. There are many different types some good some bad.
@Bilderbergz I have found that there are 2 ways to lift. 1 is the typical way u see in gyms & training videos where the guy lifts a huge amount of weight.He thinks hes tough by swinging it up then dropping it back down.This does nothing for size only power. The other way is to use a lighter weight (coz its impossible to do with the same heaviness) & slowly lift for 3 seconds then sqeeze at the peak for 3 seconds to isolate & then slowly release another 3 seconds.I use this method for size.

Like I told the other guy I dont lift more than 7.5kg for single curls, tricep extensions etc... yet my arms are 17". Show me a powerlifter who has 17" arms that dont look fat. The effort they put into lifting is a waste when it comes to physical appearance. The only thing they have is raw strength coz thats what they train for. I prefer size,definition & symmetry. I train light weights to failure.

People at the gym think I either lift heavy or am on roids...but I do neither. I just eat, supp, rest & train with proper form & isolation

@WanderingTwin1 U think heavy lifting means anything?? Im 5"7 with 17 Inch arms. My bicep curls,concentration curls,tricep extensions etc.. are done with only 15.5 pounds (7.5kg). Any geek can swing heavy weights up & down. Correct form is more important. Yeah, everybody I know can lift heavier than me, even females. But my arms are double theirs. Technique, speed, control & isolation is more important than weight. The only people who need to lift heavy are pro bodybuilders.

@WanderingTwin1 he is not a macho man like you only focusing on body building.... he is from karate where speed is everything.... now if you do a 300lb bench press you will have huge triceps and your punches will be poweful like hell and also slow like hell... so you need 7.5 kg weight lifting to shape your hand as well as maintain speeds like 8 punches in a second.... btw i m 2nd degre black belt in shotokan karate and assistant instructor of BKF...

@WanderingTwin1 Dude when u can get an isolation burn without even using weights at all then come talk to me. 17 inches with only 7.5kg, obviously weight plays no part in my training. Maybe im just a freak but then again my training partners experience similar results to me. Heres a tip, a single rep should take 3 seconds lift, 3 seconds squeeze & 3 seconds release. If ur reps are done faster done 9 seconds u are just tossing weights up & down. Whatever makes u happy.

@realityIZanILLUSION Getting big may not be JC's main goal. He never really was big. He just had a nice shape but most of his weight training was for functional speed & power to compliment his martial arts. If a martial artist gets too big they start sacrificing speed & agility for size & strength. Im at that stage now where my kickboxing has become retarded coz im too big for my frame & it slows me down & makes me stiff. I need to cut weight, I guess I need to drop my curls down to 4kg :p

@realityIZanILLUSION actually you do need to lift heavier to gain size, if you lift small weight you will condition your muscles and tone them (not bad at all) but they wont grow as much as someone who lifts heavier. Btw, becareful with creatine, that stuff makes you retain water in your body. My cousin was taking (purple k) which i believe is a derivative of creatine but more concentrated and he gained alot of weight which caused him to get stretch marks.

@Bilderbergz People can put on nice size without lifting heavy, like me.. Everybody is different. The only time it is required to lift heavy is if u are training for strength or have reached a plateau. Yeah Creatine does make your muscles retain water which adds to the pumped look. But it also boosts muscle performance & allows me to really push my reps & isolation without cramping. It also helps with strength. Need to cycle with it. There are many different types some good some bad.

@Bilderbergz I have found that there are 2 ways to lift. 1 is the typical way u see in gyms & training videos where the guy lifts a huge amount of weight.He thinks hes tough by swinging it up then dropping it back down.This does nothing for size only power. The other way is to use a lighter weight (coz its impossible to do with the same heaviness) & slowly lift for 3 seconds then sqeeze at the peak for 3 seconds to isolate & then slowly release another 3 seconds.I use this method for size.

Like I told the other guy I dont lift more than 7.5kg for single curls, tricep extensions etc... yet my arms are 17". Show me a powerlifter who has 17" arms that dont look fat. The effort they put into lifting is a waste when it comes to physical appearance. The only thing they have is raw strength coz thats what they train for. I prefer size,definition & symmetry. I train light weights to failure.

@Bilderbergz But if u need to lift heavy then by all means keep going. As for me, I have not lifted more than 7.5 kg for the last 12 years for all single bicep & tricep workouts. I dont even do benchpress yet my chest is nice & thick. I only do pushups. People can put on nice size with only bodyweight exersises, proper form, good nutrition & time to recover. People at the gym think I either lift heavy or am on roids...but I do neither. I just eat, supp, rest & train with proper form & isolation
