Oh man, props to you, sir. I'm looking up craniotomy videos because I found out on FB that my cousin is currently undergoing an emergency one over in Missouri. Intimidating procedure, but I'm glad you got through it, and hopefully my cousin does as well.
Good for you and good for all the rest of you that could take the sound of a drill going into your head. Good for you. You sir, DESERVE to get better. You have fought for it. Now, I, personally, could never, ever have the courage to go through such an procedure, even to save my life. No maybe if they could put me to sleep, some way. But awake brain surgery?? No mam/
I had a craniotomy because i had a craniofaringioma brain tumor. Only 1 in 1.5 million people have one. And the thing is, i live on an island with only 85,000 people. Freaky or what!
WOW...my 19 year old daughter was hit by a car and suffered a t.b.i she had a craniotomy and after 4 months had the part os her skull that was removed, replaced she is doing much better.Regina is a true miracle and for anyone who has to go through something like this...THERE IS HOPE!...MY DAUGHTER IS PROOF!
true and funny. I thought it was pretty cool they were playing Coldplay as well. Good ear. I'm amazed this video still gets views. Thanks everyone for the support. I'm doing well now. My MRIs have come back good. Seems the chemo worked for now. My MRIs have been moved to every six months which is a big relief. I wish anyone the best who has to go through this. Life goes on. I ride my bike to work 2.5 miles each way. I still work as a web designer.
Loooool they're playing COLDPLAY!!!!! How freakin' awesome is that!?! COLDPLAY during a craniotomy!! Dang! I wish they played cold play during my surgery! Although.. I wasn't awake anyways, but still! :D
The surgery was rly awesome , but those sutures....they don't look nice..if i will have surgery i wood like a plastic surgeon to do that :D...i don't want big scares.
@eckoOeu ...i don't want big scars........lmao......i just had a craniotomy exactly one week ago to remove a malignant glioblastoma.....i am an otherwise healthy 43 year old woman....mother of six.....my husband died one year ago of esophogeal cancer......screw the shaved head and scars....i embrace them.....adds to my badass image.....i am alive!
We brought my mom home from the hospital today after having two aneurysms clipped. Now that she's in the clear, I wanted to see everything from the craniotomy to the clipping. Thanks for doing this--it was really informative, and actually getting to see the doctors and the OR rather than just the camera trained on the surgery really helped me keep from freaking out. Glad everything went so well for you!
Do you remember talking to the guy when you were all drugged up? I am a high school student and I'm going to be interning with a surgeon in 2 weeks who does craniotomy surgeries. :D
Thank you so much for sharing this! I teach surgical technology and are talking about Neurosurgery. This video was perfect! The students loved it! Thank you!
I want to have a Cool Dr record my Wisdom Teeth Surgery :) O well my Oral and Maxillofacial Surgenos gonna help me with my project at school I gets to video interview him
Since yours was an awake craniotomy, did you have a breathing tube when you woke up? That's seriously my biggest fear. Waking up with a breathing tube. Ugh. :/
thanks guys. yeah it was a trip. i'm really glad i was able to record it for others to see it's not that bad. funny thing is five weeks later i had to do another one. thank goodness that's all over.

I am planning in studying Medicine, can anyone tell me the average time it takes to complete a Craniotomy?

@Doncosmundo : You would think a future brain-surgeon would know how to use Google.
