@plasmidsheep Okay, I cower in shame for knowing this, but Billie Joe Armstrong named his two sons Joseph and Jacob. There is no son by the name of Brixton so where you got that from is beyond me. I don't know if Joseph = Joe = Joe Strummer, but his son is in fact named Joe.
@WizardTaco123 Ah, well that explains where that name came into the mix lol. Man, if he named his son Brixton after "The Guns of Brixton"... gotta admit, it's kinda cheesy. And this is coming from a HUGE Clash fan...!
@conveseluv17 The Clash actually had meaning with their songs. I also heard that the lead singer of Green Day named their kid "Joe" after Joe Strummer, can someone confirm this for me? Because is he did, then it's almost a disgrace,
@chicargoshtyle Coming from a HUGE Clash fan, I think Green Day is a very good band. Sure they got nothing on The Clash but at least they try to represent some of the last remaining remnants of rock as a forum of venting sociopolitical frustration.
@RevolutionReviews Green Day "venting sociopolitical frustration"? Do you know anything about their career? They didn't get "political" (they don't even deserve the word) until 2004. Prior to that they sang about masturbation and cross dressing. Funny thing is, their older stuff is 100x better than the new garbage they put out. They're hardly a political band, and certainly don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the Clash, and aren't carrying on any of the Clash's legacy.
@blackhole990 The episode where one of Roger's alter-egos is pronounced guilty in a court case and sent to jail. Roger starts singing it at some point.
I will forever love this band and I loved Joe, but Joe firing Jonesy was like firing Page from Zeppelin for God's sake. Joe FUCKED it up big time when he did that. They also had the best god damn drummer of his generation. Topper is only matched by John Bonham himself in my mind. Damn Joe, why'd you mess it up so badly?? Breaks my heart just thinking about it. One of the last great bands. RIP.
@streetparade At least Joe admitted what a terrible mistake he made in firing both of them. If you watch Westway to the World, towards the end Joe says something about how he didn't realize that the Clash was not just about him, but about the chemistry of those four people (Joe, Mick, Paul, Topper) being together - something that could never be recreated. And if you watch The Future is Unwritten, it's pretty clear that Joe lived with that regret for many, many years afterwards.
@streetparade Yes,I agree but they had run their course. I saw them several times and even once gatecrashed a soundcheck. What great memories. Strummer should never have tried to carry on without Jones. I saw them on the last tour with a couple of youngsters filling in and they were fucking shit. I prefer to remember them in their prime, coming on to '16 tonnes' and then straight into 'I fought the law'. Happy, happy days.
I was there watching this tour, I loved this song and when they did Safe European Home I nearly shit my pants with excitement. For me, still in the top ten gigs of all time. Went home in a daze and took days to recover!!!!
For all you Joe fans take a look on youtube at "4 tribute to joe strummer 14th june 2003 ".
Its in 2 parts & its well worth a watch....less than a thousand views combined & I'm 50 of them.
The live version of English civil war on a kids show in the 1st part & an incredible frenetic performance of Bhindi Bhaji at the 100 club in the 2nd part are pure gold.
@oshwald What's the difference between a monkey and you? The monkey have better ear.

@shadowkid1993 well i did live in russia for a few months then we moved here and if they dont like this song why not just keep it well guess those 261 people think they can beat 15,000+ in a war LOL kiddin but realy they did it for no reason but for themself
I came back to a small town of Madrid, in Spain, where I live, from London yesterday and I missed don't see hippies, punks etc. in the streets. I was surprised of to see a peace camp in front of the parliament, doing a peace strike which began 10 years ago and politicians want to finish. Next year I will go there and I will add to the people who is fighting for a better world. One day all people in the world will rise up and will eliminate all bad things in the word. One day... @wattsthat67 Paul Simonon basically built a career out of looking like a cool, badass motherfucker 24/7. I dare you to find one bad picture of him. It's impossible.
