  • Jr. ROCKS!!! He Should get WAY more recognition that he get GO JR.!!!!!!!

  • Nice.

  • Junior & the BBs KICK ASS!!!!

  • HOT !! BBs harmony & Country twag guitar + deep lead-vocal ... real nice. But always remember folks, the BBs made this song a hit back in 1964 .. when 16 track overdubs were the best you could do in the studio. The live on-stage sound in THIS clip was NOT, technology-wise, possible back in '64 either ...

  • The Beach Boys know when a superior talent to theirs shows up! And does the Nashville establishment want this incredibly creative genius? No, they just continue to push the awful garbage heard on the airways nowadays.... As George Jones said, modern "country" ain't country at all!

  • better than the Beach Boys version..........

  • es bueno

  • Well he should follow the Beach Boys lead and caome to Australia... to play to 'the surf's' here too! Great work 'loved that reinterpretation. :-R

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • the ones that dislike are never happy

  • @stargazer444 How could someone NOT like this!

  • Hope Junior comes up to Canada soon.

  • @mtnhunter1 Hey, if he comes to Canada, can you tell him to stop in Minneapolis first? Thanks. Love this guy.

  • who's junior brown?? hey i'm Not afraid to ask!! my x girlfriend "donna" used to say, " if you don't ask, you don't get" makes sense to me.

  • Junior ROCKS!

  • This guy is absolutely one of the great entertainers of all time! !

  • @philgiesbrecht man i like that guitar! as far as i'm concerned he can play anywhere he wants! i'm trying to imagine him doing jimi hendrix "purple haze" but that's not working yet. hey don't laugh! have you heard the remix by "the cure"?? oh h0h! (oh h0h???) well anyway, u should check that out, i would put it at a 10 on the awsomeness scale. :)

  • @m1kewithaone Check out Junior Brown's Rock Medley and Surf Medley on Youtube. You may hear some Hendrix in the mix. His wife Tanya Rae is a killer acoustic rhythm player as well.

  • The best version of 409 that I have ever heard and I'm 62 409 at least 100 times.

  • @53imperial First off, this album is about 15 years old, and made #12 on the charts back when it was current. Second, the Beach Boys invited him to play, sang the backups, and they certainly did not think he "ruined" the tune. The album was called "Stars and Stripes Vol. 1," and the whole point was to have country stars sing Beach Boys tunes. And while Junior Brown is not big on the pop country charts these days, he definitely qualifies as a star, even if you don't recognize the name.

  • @CorneliusSneedley Actually JUNIOR BROWN is taking off quite well these days . Possibly , yes because of this revived song but eh ,, there he go's !

  • Great that the BB's support this version. I like it too.

  • @atlastc well i had a ss (super nova), but i was listening to dick dale and the del tones. damn. :)

  • Junior Brown brings a lot of horsepower whenever he performs--lots of vocal power too. He's a one man powerhouse, glad thew BB's liked him enough to back him!

  • Super great music. Rock on Bro's!!!!!

  • this is just.........BOSS!

  • Who the hell is this CLOWN wrecking good music?

  • @JTheGuitarPlayer Your better and your elder.

  • @Steacy783 H e may be elder, but definately not better.

  • @JTheGuitarPlayer Oh come on even The Beach Boys themselves like Junior. Junior does some killer instrumental surf medleys. If you have got to insist upon the pure Beachboys version. OK so maybe you are not ready for talent, and a new twist on an old classic. The Beach Boys real talent was their vocal harmonies, and dare I say it the actual tastefully wonderful use of a Theremin in a pop song that not only worked but was a hell of a good hook. I have not seen them since they brought Brian back.

  • (Giddyup, Giddyup, 409) A four speed, dual quad, positraction 409 (409, 409, 409) Giddyup, 409 (Giddyup, Giddyup 409) Giddyup 409 (Giddyup, Giddyup 409) Nothing can catch her, nothing can touch my 409 (409, 409) Giddyup 409....

  • She's real fine, my 409, She's real fine, my 409, She's real fine, my 4-0-9, Well, I saved my pennies and I saved my dimes (giddyup, giddyup, 409) I Always knew there would be a time (Giddyup, Giddyup 409) when I would buy a brand new 409 (409, 409, Giddyup, 409 (409, 409, 409, 409) Giddyup, 409 (Giddyup, Giddyup, 409) Nothing can catch her, nothing can touch my 409, 409, 409, (Solo) When I take her to the track, she really shines (Giddyup, giddyup 409) She always turns in the fastest times....

  • i litterally said "holy shit" out loud when i watched junior play that solo... i gotta go wash my mouth out with soap, excuse me :P

  • ARE THEY EVER HAVING FUN! Junior's baritone and drawl really make it American. What a grreat video!! Thank YOU!

  • JR's guitar work is better than Glen Cambell on the original

  • This song gets stuck in my head. I've woken up the past week singing this song. Such geat harmonies/guitar playing.

  • I believe he still tours.

  • The 10 that don't like this were probably born after music went into the outhouse 20 years ago. They must be Rap Crap Lovers.

  • hey, they did a great job. junior put a country twist on it.

  • can I get this on C.D.?

  • Man this guy ranks with the "Guitar-Immortals"

  • Junior Brown dont know how good he really is.He is crazyass good.

  • OMG this is awsome

  • the lick at 1:27 is nuts

  • DAMN GOOD! Thanks for uploading!

  • hey kid rock should sing with junior brown

  • All I can say is two great artists on one great song! Thanks for posting this!

  • What the Hell, make him a Beach Boy. Saw the Beach Boys the last 2 AV Fair and they still are the best.

  • Surf rock meets country....awesome!

  • Junior Brown sung it ok, but the Beach Boys sung it even better!

  • @SLB161991 i think the junior brow version is much better it has bass to it

  • @assfacedfucker True to that

  • @SLB161991 Hey The Beach Boys loved it and I do too. Junior Brown has the best voice on the planet. He just added something to their song. It's great! Love it.

  • @debbiedamoose i like it too. i didnt say that i didnt like it. Its not as good as the original, but its a good song to listen to in any way.

  • @SLB161991 Hey SLB! I'm old.....almost 60! I remember the Beach Boys and I love them.....Junior Brown tho.............he brings another side to that song. Let's agree to agree that the Beach Boys and Junior Brown brought greatness to 409! Keep in touch.....you seem like a nice "kid".

  • @debbiedamoose im 19 and love the beach boys since i was 13. ill be in touch

  • If I were a rich man I would get him to sing this song every ball game

  • Fuck Junior Brown. I see Brian Wilson at Glastonbury a few years back . Didnt expect much when this old fart waddle on stage, sat donw in front of a pair of keyboards ... BAMMM!!!!!

It stopped raining that very instant , then sun came out and thye guy just went off onto some mad mad gig which just left me there with my mouth open. Fucking blew me clean away!

  • Eight cylinders, 4.3125 inch bore, 3.5 inch stroke. 425 ponies at 6000 RPM, stock from the factory, with two Rochester 4GC carbs and a solid lifter cam.

  • 409 = 8 x ((4.3125 / 2 ) ^2) x 3.5000 x 3.1416

  • @dale116dot7 OR, 409 cubic inch V-8 from Chevrolet in Impalas of the early 60's, which is the reference of this song.

  • Junior Brown does more than rock.

  • this man deserves more air time

  • I cant locate this song on any C.D's can anyone help? The kids on our ball team love it.

  • @catchamule You're gonna have to "dig" a little, this song was included on an anthology entitled"Stars And Stripes", from either the late 80's or early 90's, that featured a bunch of country folk performing Beach Boys songs in the studio with The Boys themselves doing the background vocals! Also, some fine country studio musicians played their butts off on it! If I were you, Id start with Amazon to find the C.D. and then venture to your nearest local used C.D. store! Good Luck! If

  • I love this version but I wonder how many people actually know what a 409 is?

  • @rhythmrancher Good call, lotta kids probably think its the window cleaning stuff. Was a great motor though!!!

  • @tconst1 409 formula cleaner Floor cleaner dissolves and removes tough ground-in dirt from finished floors without leaving a dulling residue

Low sudsing and suitable for automatic floor machines

  • Too Cool! Junior Brown and the Boys, including Brian and Carl, just too damofino FINE! albert........... thanks for the upload, You Tube same to ya for the space. long live Junior Brown!

  • Junior Brown just screwed up a wonderfully classic song...he needs to stick with the crap music, that is the only thing he can improve.

  • @tbout1212

While I respect your opinion... I have to ask how in the world did he "screw" this up?

  • @stickpepe Amen!! Junior did nothing but embellish the lead vocal, and there is nothing wrong with that! Do you copy tbout1212? Plus, his guitar playing was fabulous! Go Junior, Go!

  • Again, it seems as though 10 people accidentally pushed the dislike button

  • I think they should have added another couple minutes on the song. I didn't want that to end.

  • a refreshing throwback to the classic era of pop music, rock on....

  • Does anyone know if Junior's rendition of "409" can be found on CD or as a download? I've searched without success. Thanks.

  • @kdh91914 Thats a tough one, I searched also. It seems "409" is not on any Junior Brown album. It is however on a Beach Boys album titiled "Stars and Stripes vol 1" That album is out of print. I looked on Utorrent, if u type in "Stars and Stripes 1996" u may be able to get it, there were 4 seeds when I checked, and "409" with Junior Brown was in the track list. Cheers!!

  • si mola un guevo...buenos coros por Neptuno!!

  • Frickin' smoking!

  • JR knows how to make that steel-guit talk!!

  • Good Golly, Miss Molly! This is the best. Junior Brown just won my love. It's not often that someone can "cover" a song and make it better. You did it Junior! Thanks.

  • good stuff

  • mkent I saw the Beach Boys in Melbourne Aust. 2 years ago. After the show was over, I felt like I was on top of the world, a feeling that lasted for several days. And I don't rate the BBs as one of my favorite acts. But man that night........

  • 409,,,,, Junior ,,, :))

  • WOW! Talk about CROSS OVER! I love it. Junior Brown's fantastic, and I've always LOVED the Beach Boys...just never thought I'd hear them on the same record, let alone see them on the same video!

  • did the Beach Boys kill each other after the vid?

  • Zowie! This is great! I'm from the south...GA and TN so Junior Brown fits. I now live in Minnesota and yes you can surf here (only during the winter tho, sorry). What could be better than country meets surfing?

  • TNX !!!!

  • A friend of Mine turned me on to Junior Brown one day back in the 1990's. we were cruzing in a Ford Ranchero in Reno and he played a JB CD after a few seconds I exclaimed,"Who the Heck is this?" I've been a Fan of Guit Steel ever since. JB is truely amazing..

  • Wish I had the car to go with the song!

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATTTTTTTTT!

  • so cool just love the whole thing rock on Junior

  • Junior Brown ROCKS! The Beach Boys heard him play one of their old hits and were instantly transported back to their teenage selves--me too!

  • Wouldn't you love to see Junior tour with the Beach Boys? Of course, Carl and Dennis are no longer with us, and Mike and Brian have kept themselves at a distance ... but it would be one rockin' show if Brian, Mike, Al, and Bruce could patch things up and hit the road together one more time with Junior Brown in tow.

  • what a combo !!!!!!! who would have thunk, jr brown could be lead singer and guitarist for the beach boys......more, more ,more !

  • one of the baddest song ever!! they so rock together!!

  • how is doing old beach boys country?

  • I'd like to hear more country singers going for an older sound like Junior Brown. I hate this "new" country BS. It just isn't country anymore, it has turned into something else.

  • Holy Catfish Mama!! Junior Brown, his Git-Steel and the remaining Beachboys doing 409! better than a wet dream!

  • @TheEldoradoKid Actually Carl Wilson has passed on since then, but it was cool seeing Brian singing with them

  • @wildhorsestudios1421 Thats Carl not Brian.Who is no longer with us.

  • @Foghorn908 Carl has a beard. Who's that standing between Carl and Mike? Looks like Brian although it's very blurry and quick.

  • @Foghorn908 ... Brian is in there too ... it took me a while to see him next to Carl in one of the last frames ... Carl was the glue ...

  • @wildhorsestudios1421 ... and even better to see the late, great Carl singing.

I lived in Hawthorne California when they were just starting out... Mike was a dickhead then and now. Carl & Brian were always the group to me.

  • this is great.... thank god for musicians like brian wilson and junior brown both have their own unique gifts that make our world so much funner to live in... THANKS GUYS!

  • Saw him tonight in Nashville AWESOME!!!!

  • Where did you see Junior play in Nashville?

  • The Station INN

  • Comment removed

  • That is SOOO bitchin!!!

  • cool

  • Junior Brown is great and it's kind of the end of the line for the Beach Boys there. That was a

great album called "Stars and Stripes".

  • One of my other guitar favourites is Rory Gallagher who always stayed true to his own path kept his dignity in the process. I've on;y started listening to Junior in the last month and I'm already sold - fab player and original gentleman in the process. two greats - Rory would have loved the chance to play along side Junior I'm sure.

  • What are you talking about ??? Rory Gallagher can't be compared to the Genius of Jr Brown - Gallegher was a flapper who re-hashed Blues licks all over the place - I don't hear much originality in his playing execpt he played 'em louder & Harder.

  • Each to his own I guess. I think it's just great that we are all fortunate to be able to listen to and enjoy so many great and varied musical talents. I wouldn't have listened to much country stuff till a mate put me on to Junior, Danny Gatton, Joe Maphis, Chet Atkins, Hank Thompson, Merle Haggard and even Johnny Cash.

The link for me was the guitar playing. They are all wonderful in their own ways. Go Junior - and if you don't mind , go Rory too.

  • VERY NICE VIDEO....thanks for posting

  • Cool song but I think my 429 Cobra has his daddy. This was awesome, kudos to Junior and The Beach Boys!!
