@xDAxROC12x First Class was a total re-imagining of the X-Men, it follows very little from the comics, it's basically a brand new story. Magento was originally called Magnus, only later on in the comics is he given the name Erik Lehnsherr. He also had nothing to do with Charles' crippling legs. I LOVE First Class but don't take it as "real" for what actually happens in the X-Men world, cos it's basically all made up.

Just for the record, I am not by any means trying to say that we should consider Magneto as acceptable. What he does is quite wrong, make no mistake about that. However, what he does, as well as his disposition about what he does, does have a certain sense of accurate (if also quite grim) human realism behind it. To put this another way, is Magneto really all that different from many of the other arrogantly idealistic leaders we have had here in the real world?

Frankly speaking, I personally see Magneto as more of an antihero than an actual villain. He certainly does things that are morally questionable, but not without understandable reasoning behind these deeds. My point; in spite of his crimes, Magneto is not evil. He is just in a helluva lot emotional pain. And how can we blame him for that? Just as this very video shows, his past was far from pleasant.

Any story or franchise always go through changes, it's almost impossible to keep the story completly original when they reimagin them, it's the 21's century and most of these characters are over 70 years old, far from the Holocaust, WW2 and Great Depression times where these comic books had the most impact. We have a new century new wars, new politics, when you reintroduce a story from over 70 years ago things must be updated to help people understand it better. Thats just the way it is.

...digital comics in years, but I used to own lots of the paper ones(mostly x-men related or marvel, and numbering around the 1000 or so in one room alone). Magneto's story was what got me interested in learning about what really went on during world war two with the Nazis. It wasn't just the Jewish; Hitler was only one of three up for the job, and chosen solely for his speech making skills. Perhaps had one of the other two been chosen, a lot of lives would have been saved--research people!
