  • Definitely a way to go, you can tell no difference between new and refurbished, and they are just as reliable if not MORE reliable them new products due to all the testing and inspection the devices go through.

  • do they replace the caseing? cuz i dont want the previous useds scratches all over it

  • @AwwC00L most of the time with any referb the case is used but there arent any huge scratches but there are some light ones that you can only see in very bright lighting

  • accually apple lied it cost them not even 100$ to fix your screen

  • thanks ill definetly buy a air book from apple thanks ^-^

  • Don't be lazy - take your chance NOW and win Macbook Air. Check out macbook7, c0m!

  • did your macbook have alot of scratches on it and messed up physical appearences on it?

  • i just got my refurbished macbook pro, it has a blank screen when i turn it on. i called apple and now i have to wait for them to first call me back, send return shipping labels, then for me to send it back, then theyll mail me a different one. this sucks.

  • You make good points about upgrading on refurbs.

  • No refurbs!! buy New mac w/o tax and edu discounted

    learn how

    tube Apple Store Secrets

  • Can u pay monthly like the new products

  • Can I go right to an Apple Store to purchase a refurbished MacBook?

  • No, you must purchase it online. From my experience, they have warehouses around the country where they store the refurbished products. In my case, I just got my MBP 13 last week and love it. It was shipped from PA. It is totally worth the price. The laptop looks flawless.

  • it is now on the left side of the applestore

  • Right if on UK apple store

  • anybody know how its takes for apple to ship macbook?

  • What is the difference between the new and the refurbished?

  • refurbished means used

  • it means it has been used and broken. But if you buy it from Apple they will satisfy you I bought my ipod there and their weren't no missing parts and no scratches i bought it last year and it is

  • they replace all the parts for refubished ones so basically.......... it has no fancy box

  • Used, but cleaned inside and out and all parts replaced as necessary. -good as new :)

  • refurbished are notebooks that have been sent back to apple, the techs look over it and make sure its still up to par, then put them back up for resale.

  • well

new is just new and refurbished is just a used one that has been broken

but there really isn't a difference since they replace most of the parts

all u miss out on is hte fancy box

  • also, a lot of the "refurbished" machines were never used, they were just opened and returned, but the manufacturers are required to sell them as used. Every mac I've bought has been refurbished and they've always been as good as new machines. It's really a good way to buy.

  • oh really?, so do you recommend to buy one of these, because i´m looking that there is a macbook very good with ddr3 memory in US$ 899, really cheap ..

  • go boeing. u work there?

  • would apple fix damages/scratches/malfunctioning/etc on refurbished?

  • yes. when you get it, it doesn't even looked used.

  • What does refurbished mean?

  • its a used product...

but apple takes a checkup and fixes it and resells it for way cheaper

  • refurbished means used

  • get screenflow its better

  • so you get garageband with a referb?????

  • Of course you get the exact same thing like you bought it brand new. All apple computer when you buy them from the apple store come with Ilife 09, It's include Garageband ;)

  • yes it comes with ilife

  • Thanks for posting us this...

I've heard from my computer friends that I should get a refurbished Macbook rather than new... I'm halfway broke...

Thanks for the info., my friend!

  • i should have seen this video before... :(

  • lol your username is dell1032, but you bought a mac

    haha

  • lol, silly name, smart man!!

  • thanks you and some other guy reasured me, i'm not wasting money on a new macbook when i can get a perfectly good one refurbished with the same warranty as a new one. oh, and for the people who think refurbished laptops may be broken or not working properly, heres something you should know, a company couldn't sell you something that isn't working properly or no one would buy from them!

  • Its on the bottom left now

  • ahhh lol when he pointed the camera at the screen his reflection came up and he hardly had any clothes on.

  • I am pretty sure they use a lot smaller boxes for refurbs now. Which is nice. And they are white instead of brown. They aren't as nice as the real Macbook boxes, but even one of those isn't worth $300.

  • "no box is $500", LMAO

good call, mate, thats very true

  • yes but does a dell come with all software installed and ready to go? does a dell have all the extras thrown in there? does a dell run on UNIX making it pretty impossible to get a virus? no didnt think so, so back off the macbooks

  • Agree with Neomike612...

  • You get dell for 400 $... don't make me laugh!

you don't get anything as great as a macbook in a dell! you never will! OS X vs Windows... that's an easy question who wins - OS X of course! so don't say macs suck if you never used it for some time..

  • How about that new dell adamo... 1 ghz for $2,000

  • Lol, if someone buys it, no offense, they're just showed their intelligence, mac is cheaper and better in tech specs

  • true but macs are the new notebook/desktop people want a good running and good looking computer PC makes pretty weird designs

  • I always wondered if there would be any cosmetic damage to a refurbished computer, but i talked to someone that works for apple and they said that it's just like new, there shouldn't be any scratches or anything ;)

  • Apple refurbished products perfoms like a brand new one.

  • Great stuff. Thank you for doing the video.

  • hey i bought the newest ipod (120gb) from them and it was a REFURB

Mint Conditition for $180.00 USA Dollars

im am actually thinking about converting my pc with vista(its crap) to the mac book pro

    Mac= Number 1 on earth

  • so if you get a refurbished, and it has a scratch or imperfection, can you send it back to get it fixed or a replacement?

  • I think that when It comes it will have a couple of small scratches because It was sent to some one and there was something wrong with it so they sent it back to apple and then apple will replace the faulty part and then they can't sell it as new so they sell it as refurbished =)

  • Im quite sure that there aren't any scratches or anything with refurbished

  • I got my iMac refurbished, saved enough to buy a printer with it. :D

  • The idea for Apple behind a refurbished product is just marketing. More people will buy their product if they sell it at a regular price for a new Macbook, or "used" and refurbished at a lower price. They are the same product. That's my opinion.

  • Whats the difference between Apple Care and the Standard 1yr warranty it comes with?

  • Based on what apple said, Refurbished Macbook are extensively tested...you can find more info and updated list of available macbook at shopmacpro. com. I personally got a macbook pro. It came with a lot of softwares and are in pre-intitialized state (just like new). Hope it helps.

  • Actually, the only noticeable difference is the box. Refurbished ones don't come with the fancy Apple box, but the usual brown cardboard box instead. But then, isn't that what other brand gives you too? hahah

  • its the same exact thing only apple makes it sounds and looks bad so u buy the new one

  • I've been saving up forever to get a macbook yet i still can not afford one. I'm planning on buying a refurbished one (of course) but i can't make money! i'm only 12 so a job is out of the question. Who knows a good way to earn money fast? (i'm talking really fast like cheetah fast :D) I really want/need a macbook because i have Windows Vista with windows movie maker and I can not make videos because it shuts down! I cannot use it! it's such a pain!! argggh! thanks soooo sooo much if u can help!

  • im 12 and i got 1 so like ask for ur family for money from like hollidays

  • I'll try.

  • lol

  • Haha C:

  • what is refurbished?

  • When someones breakes, they send it in, get a new one, apple fixes the broken one, then sells it for cheaper, with same warranty. This equals a cheaper, but quality electronic device.

  • thanx man!

  • get a macbook pro

    if u want *****

    for cheap

  • duhhhh

  • So far, my macbook has been performing well. You can check shopmacpro. com for an updated list of refurbished mac. That's where I got mine. Good luck.

  • Have you had any bad things happen to your macbook? So basically is it good your macbook?

  • good vid, thanks for the advice man.

  • now im getting a pro, way cheaper. thanx

  • Hey, I was wondering if the mac still comes with the files and software that the previous owner had on it.

    Thanks

  • No it doesn't. The do a fresh installation of the operating system at the factory so there's no way to recover files from the previous owner.

  • refurbished macbook works great. I love it. You can find updated list of refurbished apple product at shopmacpro . com.

  • i have a refurbished black macbook being sent to me right now thanks for giving all the details on refurbished apple products :D

  • was it the standard warenty or the apple care you used for the wear and tear of your macbook to be replaced?

  • Currently I'm under the extended warranty coverage provided by my AppleCare. I'll be covered until November 2009.

  • Your using Camino :D:D:D. I'm gonna buy a refurbished Black MacBook in two years most probably.

  • for the refurbished, i want to get a macbook, what year will they send? like an old one ..or a newer one, that still has video chat and all that type of stuff

  • It will have EVERYTHING it will just be either a slower processor or a smaller hard drive but it will have an iSight camera and 10.5 Leopard

  • this was 2 years ago genius.

  • I am glad you noticed.

  • dipshit

  • stupid shit, but i am glad those specs work for you.

  • such a good idea i wish i had that idea before i got mine. two days ago

  • can I buy a refurbished macbook (pro) but with a different keyboard (portuguese) and a different AC wall plug? thanks. ;) keep posting

  • I really can't answer that for you. If the Apple website is localized for Portugese, then you might be able to buy from Apple's Portugal website assuming you live there. Otherwise you're going to have to find the keyboard on some other site and do the replacement yourself if you want to do it on the cheap.

  • Just got mine yesterday. Couldn't be happier with it. No signs of any ware or tear.

  • i want a macbook not a macbook air just a white 120 gb macbook that has a 1gb ram

  • i suggest buying a macbook as cheap as possible and build up with upgrades with money left over form saving, its worth it.

  • thanks for doing the video i was looking to get the very same laptop but they now have it for 849.99 so maybe i will get it

  • good information to know thanks for the great info

  • i know but but does it perform as good as a new mac

  • So an Apple item hasn't reached the consumer?

  • So an Apple item hasn't reached the consumer?

  • dude does the refurbished run as good as the new one. im trying to decide if i want a refubished or new one.i want to spend below $2000.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so is there a downside to this

  • is any thing broken on the macs that you buy refurbished ?

  • They're returned in the one week return policy meaning someone bought them, there WAS something wrong with it, they return it, apple fixes it and CLEANS it completely, then resells it refurbished. It's basically a brand new product without the pretty box. You get EVERYTHING else. Including the free 1 year warrantee so if there is something wrong with it you can return it.

  • Where can u buy :o

  • online on the apple refurb store. Click "Store" and then go down to the bottom left and you'll see a blue picture of an ipod, laptop, imac I think and it has "blue tag sale" on it or something.

  • Yeye i know <,< i didnt watch whole vid or anything before i wrote :$ i was stupid ;D

  • Awesome Video

  • hey...i know this vid is old but im trying to buy one myself but i wanted to know how long u had urs already and is it worth it to buy a refurb one....i mean i saw the vid and its pretty outstanding that ur not havin any problems and it looks brand new...but it's going to be my first time buyin sumthing refurbished...

  • On the small chance Apple hasn't fixed it completely, you have the free one year warrantee and can send it back to get it fixed.

  • same

  • Whistle Slur :)

  • refurbished apple products have nics in em but doesnt affect it, but you realy dont save that much...

  • the refurbished things do they have scratches and things like that

  • some but its not like really bad ,four or five noticable ones on my macbook pro

  • you do no when you replace the hd in a macbook it voids your warrenty

  • For MacBooks, the hard drive is classified as a user replaceable part and swapping it out will not void the warranty. I checked Apple's and MacRumor's discussion forums and double checked my AppleCare agreement to make sure. Part of the reason I chose a MacBook over a MacBook Pro is because you can pull out the hard drive without voiding the warranty.

  • No, that's not a scratch. That's a fiber from the cardboard box that was got caught in the plastic bag. The MacBook works fine.

  • I saw a scratch, pause at 6:45 and look on the irght.

  • is you macbook working fine being refurbished

  • Im from Argentina, and i think your video is awesome. Here on my country refurbish market is everywhere, adn people cant notice really if the products are new or refurbesh. I personally, buy a refurbished ps2, saving 100 usd, lots of money here. Later will tell how it goes. God Bless you all.

  • A380 owns

  • Its the 787 boeing dreamliner. not an airbus.

  • i know it was 787. i was just simply stating my opinion.. :P

  • :P heh

  • good video - ive been searching the web wetehr or not to go to refurbished. In the end , i read that a few people had had probelms and it was enough to put me off. I just can't take this risk. But god video to show exactly what u got. nice one

  • As far as refurbs go, do they have a lot of scratches on them, or does it vary from computer to computer?

  • Title27GT:

Also if you want to see how bad Flash performance can be in Safari, I would suggest you do a YouTube search for Adobe Flash on OS X and you'll Safari shares some of the same problems that affects Firefox and Camino.

  • This is my reply to Title27GT:

Tweaking about:config helps in FF/Camino. Also I compile all my Mozilla products from source and target the build for the Yonah processor in my MacBook and never had any performance issues at all. Honestly, I find WebKit to be awful and it DOES mangle some sites that I visit in addition to being slower than Gecko. Just my opinion.

  • What's the performance like tho?

Do they perform as good as new macs?

Are the problems minor and cosmetic?

  • If you're talking about the performance difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo, there is a slight (5 - 10%) difference between the two processors, but for what I do it works great. My MacBook looked brand new out of the box - no blemishes at all and based on my experiences you wouldn't be able to tell you're running on a refurbished unit unless someone told you.
