Armadillos do NOT carry leprosy.  It is not a virus. Hansen's disease is caused by a bacteria (Mycobacterium lepromatosis,) and is as such treatable anyway. The thing with armadillos is that it is one of only a small handful of non-human creatures that are SUSCEPTIBLE to Leprosy, due to their low body temperature. To say they carry leprosy as a species is to say that because we have 400 different species of bacteria in the digestive tract, we must then carry these as a disease to others.
