I own it, I've seen it, and frankly, it's pretty mediocre, especially compared to A Clockwork Orange. Basically a half-ass combination of Gladiator and a lousy porn film. Perhaps still worth watching, but don't get your hopes up. And this is made all the more unfortunate since McDowell is such a great antagonist. But really, it's not that great of a film. The much rumored remake might be worthwhile, if they actually referred to a text book and had a decent script.
When i bought this from Best Buy it was in the History section and I had no idea what the film was about. I heard Caligula from Via Caligula and seen A Clockwork Orange several times. I thought it was going to be like Ben Her or Spartacus. Best juke EVER! After A Clockwork Orange i couldn't watch a movie with Malcolm McDowell the same way, and after Caligula i can't watch Alex from Clockwork Orange the same way again.

This is an extremely difficult movie to classify. Yes, it does contain a decent amount of hard core pornographic material, and it's way over the top in terms of style and substance, but a decent attempt is being made by the big name actors and the production team to create something legitimate here.
I can honestly see this movie being remade today (with the sex toned down a bit), potentially becoming as successful and as critically acclaimed as the HBO series "Rome."
This movie is now on netflix. Just thought everyone should know.

The only good thing about this movie was the cast. It could have been done soo much better than it was. Malcolm Mcdowell is great as usual but the script sucks and the sex is the only interesting thing about the film. It nearly ruined Mcdowells carear

This is an extremely difficult movie to classify. Yes, it does contain a decent amount of hard core pornographic material, and it's way over the top in terms of style and substance, but a decent attempt is being made by the big name actors and the production team to create something legitimate here.
I can honestly see this movie being remade today (with the sex toned down a bit), potentially becoming as successful and as critically acclaimed as the HBO series "Rome."
