To compare to the iPod, my first MP3 player was a small thing made by Creative. Worked fine, but it was made by Creative so no one cared. When the iPod nano was released, it cost twice as much for about exactly the same thing, and people couldn't get enough of it.

I don't begrudge him the success of selling so much stuff, it's just annoying when fanboys act like he "innovated" everything from scratch.
