I used to do a similar "trick" which freaked people out in public. But instead of using the bottle & cork as in video, I used a regular glass with the two forks and ONE round toothpick. We were sitting at a restaurant once when I did this at our table & people were staring in awe, lol.

@TheGrimdrumreaper Its because the forks are overhanging the toothpicks and thus have added weight to the other side. Since they are adding weight to the other side and the tooth pick is not falling this setup is completely balanced. Sorry if that doesnt explain it any better for you. But as long as each side is balanced it will not fall. We tend to just notice the fact that the forks are attached to the one edge of the tooth pick which really hinders alot of thought. Its just phyics

OH my god, After seeing this video I had to try it! I went straight to the kitchen grab some toothpicks and set up. The forks took a while but once you see it it is very easy. After that it took maybe 1 minute to get it balanced. It was so cool!

If anybody is having trouble getting the forks together, i just scotch taped the forks together (make sure they are evenly put together), and poked through the toothpick in the middle. It works! Cool trick by the way, and thank you for showing how to do it =D!!. Thumbs up this comment please! That way so people can get the forks together more easily!

i did something like this, you balance the two forks and the toothpick on a glass, try to balance it in the middle, after that burn the tooth pick starting at the area on the opposite side of the forks.the flame stops at the edge of the glass.even though the toothpick is on the glass and up it is still balance.

It's really worth the time and practice and learn how to do this trick if you like this kind of stuff,...

and do it as a challenge trick, challenge someone to "try and do this" instead of a "watch me do this" kind of trick, when you actually hand them the toothpic and ask them to balance it tip to tip with the other toothpic & the forks on there, they freak, when you complete the task, they really freak!

It's neither. Its the centre of gravity. Centrifugal is moving in a circular motion to push out(centrifuge) and centripetal is circular motion pulling in towards a centre (whirlpool).

not a physics genius here, but i think it has something to do with the ends of the forks (where you would normally grip one) being angled back toward where the tips of the toothpicks touch. i'm not totally sure, but i think it does have something to do with that and the way the weight is distributed. or something along those lines. like i said, not a physics genius here :P
