  • I always Loved this song !! They had a follow up song called "They don't make em' like that anymore".. Its a hard to find on records or CDs in 2012.

  • Thanks 4 post Joyce Hoover! Your a real gem… xo

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO! :)

  • Who is the guy doing the intro about high fidelity?

    Great GREAT job !!

  • Woah Woah Woah Woah !

  • I heard an interview about the song, the lead singer walked into the studio and knocked the vocal track the first time with no retakes, pretty amazing. Love this song, it was on the radio like every hour when I was a little kid in the 70s.

    good job on the video!!!

  • This video captures the essence of the song perfectly. Bravo!

  • I think I still have the 45!

  • Holy Cow Im old WOW

  • This was one of the better and most clever songs ever !!!! LOVE IT !!

  • This song is in the movie "The Specials" but it seems to be remastered, with more volume on the bass, reverb on the lead vocal and sped up a bit.

  • A BLAST From MY PAST ... use to play this when i D.J in 1n the late 1980's and the people would freak out on this tune on how it took them back to their days

  • The humor and innocence in this big 70s hit does not exist in today's pop music. I feel sorry for kids today.

  • Wow, I don't know how I missed this, all these years!

  • What an awesome song....had almost forgotten about this one!! Love it!! =)

  • Absolutely love this video...didn't leave out any of the best songs or artists of all time! All my favorites...who put this together? Amazing!!!! One of my favorite songs when I was a kid, but didn't really listen to the lyrics until now!

  • Freaking BRILLIANT. Thanks. I'd like to know how you did this, since I got a ways into doing something similar, but doubtless without the right technology. (I DO think you'd like the sound montage I'm doing it to...)

  • @Panufo Oh yeah? What's the video you're putting together?

  • @abmcw Youtube won't let me paste in the URL to the song montage I created (and even once sent to Dr Demento), but if you could shoot me an email address where I could link you to it, you might like it.

  • Neat! :D

  • even the one hit wonders of the 70's are better than todays so called musicians.

  • @gant555

There's some good music being made today too.

  • Would you happen to have Reunion's version of the Charlie Chaplin song "Smile" that they also recorded. It is probably the finest version of the song ever recorded, and I have heard just about everyone's version. It is very obscure, but it exists! Thanks.

  • Ok I'm 21, and after listening to this song one time, this is my new favorite song! Anything that has Ritchie Valens, Eric Clapton, and Leslie Gore in the lyrics is automatically awesome! :D

  • Not unsung, a SUNG classic that deserved better fame. Part tribute, part kitsch and now remembered digitally! Thank you!

  • First rap song EVER! Learned this in the 70's and STILL LOVE IT TODAY!!!!

  • Excellent job!

(the only thing that could make it better would be showing the lyrics at the bottom as well)

  • Great job!

  • When I first watched this thing I assumed it was professionally made. You totally outdid yourself.

  • ive always loved this song.

  • excellent video....thank you for the effort you put into it

  • Excellent editing job.

  • give'em the grammy

  • Fifteen people are too square to roll.

  • This is an AWESOME video, for a really cool song!!!!

  • This is Nemo's favorite song!!!!!

  • rap before rap was invented!!!

  • @emerice @emerice Actually it was already around. The Last Poets and Gil Scott Heron were already eyeball deep in it.

  • Who's the guy at the beginning talking about high fidelity reproduction? He's shown again at 1:50 and 2:56.

  • @suniseclipsed looks like Ward the dad from leave it to Beaver ???

  • Am I the only one who finds REM's End of the World As We Know It very similar to this? I'm surprised there was never much controversy. I realize this came out first however.

  • 3:34 seconds into the video is the 45 for the Doobie Brothers "Listen to the Music." You gotta know your Doobs to catch that 1/16th second flash.

  • Tsting testing

  • Best history lesson evah!

  • First heard this song on the series "Life On Mars", a great show that was cancelled too soon. This song has great lyrics.

  • Always a good song.

  • memories....

  • hate rap but this is good

  • @offinthehead6 This "ain't" (C)RAP, baby, this is ROCK 'N ROLL!!!

  • @K7DFA Actually,I have heard this called "The Original Rap Song" several times and at several places and on several ROCK radio stations, who didn't mind playing it every weekend. || Doesn't matter what a song is classified as,as long as people love it! Music is Music! (Can you think of a BETTER rap song released BEFORE 1971?!?)

  • Excellent post! My dad had this on reel to reel.I loved those big machines!

  • Man, I remember this from a compilation vinyl record we had as a kid. Did you create this video, or just re-post it. If you made it - *kneels* "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!"

  • @silverfish1 my same feelin' in respect to 'Life is a Rock! = )

  • The montage of record labels at 2:09 is a nice touch leading into the chorus and the big finish.

  • Love this F'n song.

  • Well done!! Great video! Awesome song! Big smile! ty

  • I love what you did with this! A great video for a great song!

  • Good video BUT the rock group KISS needs to be added. During the 2nd verse the correct lyric is "... Johnny Cash and Johnny Rivers; KISS and now I've got the shivers"

Don't forget this song was released in 74, the same year the world got to see KISS and thier theatrics for the first time. For most, they were considered strange.

  • Love this song! Savage Garden's "I Want You" sounds a lot like this song, especially the verse section.

  • OMG in jr high I learned all the words to this! I still know it by heart.

  • I was having a bad day until I heard this song! This song makes me smile every time. :)

  • very much so deserv
