However fast-paced and odd this movie is, it actually does a really good job of paralleling real life - just when we think everything is perfect, everything comes crashing down and we're lost and have no idea what to do. Our only hope is that there will be a happy ending somewhere in the future, even if we have to trudge through a lot of suffering to get to it. Strange how my favorite movie as a kid suddenly mirrors my life as of late. WHY DON'T THEY MAKE MOVIES LIKE THIS ANYMORE?!

I guess this story is kind of about persistence, you know? Like how many things are getting in the way of what thumbelina wants, and that toad is the worst villain. There are villains who seek power(Ursula , voldemort, scar, jafar etc.) and then theirs villains who interfere with what the protagonist wants, like the toad which is relatable to real life, I guess. there's not many mad power-crazy people but people who get in your way and slow you down.
