@thundavolt Earlier I said we should rely on the methods we were using previously. Dogs, metal detectors, armed Air Martials, and sure I would welcome improvements to those items. We have a no-flight list that is maintained (poorly) by the DHS, it needs to be overhauled and people deserve to be informed of when they are listed and why.
My main concerns have to do with that awkward list and the body scanners. P.S I don't believe for a second that private sector should get involved anymore.

The thing that really gets under my skin is that the focus is only in ONE area: Air travel. National security people aren't taking into account how easy it would be for a terrorist to just walk into a mall with a gun, take a bomb on a train, or drive a carbomb into an airport. You can't protect everything, and focusing so much on air travel doesn't necessarily make us safer, it just removes one avenue of terror. These procedures haven't stopped a single attack, they're all for show.

@thundavolt Earlier I said we should rely on the methods we were using previously. Dogs, metal detectors, armed Air Martials, and sure I would welcome improvements to those items. We have a no-flight list that is maintained (poorly) by the DHS, it needs to be overhauled and people deserve to be informed of when they are listed and why.
My main concerns have to do with that awkward list and the body scanners. P.S I don't believe for a second that private sector should get involved anymore.

If walking through a scanner offends you then lets have anyone board a plane so we can have more terrorist attacks. Screw it. Let everyone on and don't check them. When planes start crashing into shit you will have no right to complain. I would walk through those scanners if it makes my flight safer. I don't care if the TSA agent sees my cock and balls.

@lomocan LOL if they start cavity searches its time to take the train. But I see no problem with walking through a scanner. It's better than no checks at all which puts us all at risk. And I believe in Bens comment I just don't think it applies to walking through an airplane scanner. Had Ben lived in this time I am sure he wouldn't object to prudent safety measures.

The thing that really gets under my skin is that the focus is only in ONE area: Air travel. National security people aren't taking into account how easy it would be for a terrorist to just walk into a mall with a gun, take a bomb on a train, or drive a carbomb into an airport. You can't protect everything, and focusing so much on air travel doesn't necessarily make us safer, it just removes one avenue of terror. These procedures haven't stopped a single attack, they're all for show.

@lomocan Ah thats not entirely accurate. You are forgetting about a great many other things. First the number one cause of "untimely" deaths is heart failure. Then you have drunk driving, perhaps the largest cause of untimely deaths come from people admitted to hospitals that receive care or medication that wasn't necessary or contrary to what they required or needed if you look at those unnecessary deaths it could almost past for genocide.
