My best friend and I would rush home after school to watch MV3...loved Richard Blade on this show and we'd listen to him on KROQ 106.7 rock of the 80's! :) Good times!
I used to run from Junior High to my house in time to catch this show! It came on here in LA on KCAL Channel 9. I had a huuuuge crush on Karen Scott. Thanx for posting.
THANK YOU for posting MV3 clips!! I grew up in Michigan but we had it syndicated. I didn't have cable so this was my introduction and lifeline to what I thought was the hippest/coolest stuff at the time.
Thanks for the memory lane. I was around 11-12 also...I'm starting to feel silly when people look at me when I talk about MV3....I'm not alone anymore..
Growing up in Lennox, we were all poor and didn't know anybody who had cable then. We all wanted MTV, but MV3 was the closest we got. I was so in love with Karen Scott. I rememberd this show real good on channel 9 in L.A. Yes, it always was an hour long. I remember seeing Karen Scott at the US festival day 2. She interviewed Van Halen for the MV3 show.
I accidentally recorded a fantastic opening for the show where they used the song "Baby Workout" as the title theme--which is the first time I ever heard the Jackie Wilson original song. The cutting was fantastic on it. It's rare that I think of a show's opening.
HOLY SHIT!!! I talk to people about this show and NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, has ever even heard of it!!! I caught it on ch.9 in LA and raced home by 3:30 to soak in every second...the first time I ever heard of George Clinton, The Talking Heads, Berlin, geeze, brings back memories...anyone remember the Mighty 690?!?
I grew up in the South Bay area of Los Angeles(remember Black Flag?)In the 80's. We never , ever, even heard of this show.I can only guess this was for really young teens. Come on people, MTV was the real f*ckin' deal, remember ?? (and yes, I remember the mighty 690.)
Yeah, you're right; MTV was the real deal, but for those of us who didn't yet have cable, MV3 was IT! As for being a show for young teens, perhaps...I was all of 10 or 11 when this show was on and I couldn't get enough of it
Yeah mongoose I used to watch it too!! Monday through Friday!! Do you Remember Video One and En Vivo?? I used to watch MV3 to see what everyone was wearing :)
Video One rings a bell, but I can't remember if it was a show or an ill-fated channel...En Vivo...not so much. Fill me in on these two, if you please! I'm curious to know what they're about!
Video One was on Channel 56 in Burbank I think. Rodney Bingenheimer had a guest show showing his video picks and Richard Blade hosted sometimes too. En Vivo I think was on channel 34--it was the Hispanic MV3. Some girl hosted it and she would speak in spanish and english.
Hooray! You remember it too! Though it rings a bell, I don't quite remember what Video One was...En Vivo is fuzzier still...fill me in on these two, if you please! Here's a bonus: do you remember the Miller's Outpost ads with the cowboy dudes? They used to be EVERYWHERE, like The Federated Group ads with Fred Rated! Man, why do I feel like I need some GrapeVines cord shorts and a 13-inch color TV (with remote!)?
The show actually ran an hour, not a half hour. Towards the end of the show's run, they started cutting back on the dancers and showing the videos in their entirety.
That could be. I thought I remember it being only a half hour orignally then maybe increasing to an hour. A lot of fans talk about it starting at 3:30 so you'd think it was a half hour show. Anyway I was only 13 so what do I remember.
I originally caught the show in 82 when it was syndicated in Dallas and it ran an hour then. When I moved out west the next year, I was able to catch it on Ch. 9 in Los Angeles for the last few months and it was still an hour.
Whatever happened to Richard, David, and Karen?

Boy, do I remember this. I especially can remember having a crush on Karen L. Scott...at only 11 years old, too.

Loved this show. Watched it all the time (we didn't have cable) in Florida. Not sure what channel. I think it was on weekdays around 4?

My younger brother was a die hard fan of this show and hated it whenever I impersonated Richard Blade's Aussie(?) accent.

Karen Scott mentioned that he was from England. Last I heard, he was filling in @ KYSR 98.7 FM in Los Angeles

While you're at it, don't forget Max Headroom. Or that Burger King ad with the little old lady "Where's the Beef ?"

Believe it or not, I do. It was an AM Radio station that played like, 6 records over & over & the station had NO personality @ all.
