Thanks! I was brought up there. My Dad a a Pure oil gas station on Ora where the ban shell is. We lived in Holly Hill. Gasoline was 25cents. Went to Mainland HS. Saw the Alman brothrs since their start. AAAHHHH the good old days! Now Im 62 and down close to Brownsville TX. I dont know why. Id rather be back in Holly Hill. Richard Green
Wow...A1A has changed quite abit. All the little 1950 hotel/motels are gone and skycraper sized hotels are in....alot more landscaping along the sidewalks and center of the road. Hardly recognized the place. I lived down there for a short bit in late 80's. Wish i hadn't moved back to snowy Maine. :)
Trust me. I've lived here 8 years now. It's a black hole. I've seen people move down here with money and a job only to be left with nothing stuck here.
I lived in Ormond between 1989 and 1995. I worked at a motel in Ormond and one in Daytona. I went back in 2003 and was surprised at how much Daytona had changed (For the better, a lot better!).
I used to live there. Daytona has a sketchy boardwalk with drunken bums mostly then you get bike week, then race week, then we used to have a really good spring break but heard that doesn't happen anymore. Not a bad place overall though
You lived there for 5 yrs..how did you like it? Im from Iowa and have dreamed of living in Florida since i was 15yrs old..went there and cried the whole way home..Now 28yrs old still wish i was there!! Tell me your thoughts!!
@omandy17 I wasn't too bad at the time, though the place has changed (mostly become much more crowded) since I was there. Mild winters and no snow. Summers can be quite hot and humid.
when I get loney for Daytona, I watch this video. thank you my friend. hey, does anyone remember when TC's top dog was on A1A? The good ole days.I think he's in a bigger place on nova rd. now
Nice drive Necroslair. Some great memories from spring break in the late 70's easrly 80's. Yes, this area was and still is in its own respect, one of the best places for spring break. We had a hell of a time with the girls, partied hard. Wasn't as stupid as they are now with jumping from balcony to balcony or shooting guns in motel rooms, we had great fun raised some honest hell, and memories to last a lifetime. Thanks for posting! Good health and happy new year!
I just moced back to CA from Ormond Beach.. Stayed in a beautiful oceanfront condo on the left right after the street Granada (aka right after where Ocala was mentioned) I LOVED it in Florida... i will move back someday!
My mother had her gastric bypass surgery don at the hospital on the right at 0:55, me and my Dad stayed at the motel on the left at 0:55 as well...this happened in August 1999
had the best times of my life in and around this area in my very early 20's-remember many memories from your video and wish I could turn back time, now Im here in sunny UK =(
Thanks for the video I was able to show precisly where I reside to my family back home. This is the best Daytona Beach footage I have come across on youtube period.
