  • Kaki and Sungha are great guitarists but based on my five song review of them, they are not ORIGINATORS... which sets M apart from the rest.

  • she's a great musician....and it aint fair to compare...

  • Love it. Classic acoustic guitar.

  • this is my favourite song of michael hedges is fantastic:..!!! the music is magic...

  • "I'm not saying Kaki is bad... I just don't care for her as a person."

Wait, have you met Kaki? Or is this just a bigoted opinion based on your disapproval of her sexual orientation?

PS, I agree that Kaki isn't in the same caliber as Michael, Andy Mckee, or Don Ross. I just hate it when people attack her sexuality. It's about the music, guys.

  • Forget everything..period. Just listen to this one over and over and over again..people!

  • And they were all inspired by the late great Michael Hedges....show some respect for those who pave the way to greater styles.

  • obituary.. SAN FRANCISCO -- Michael Hedges, an acoustic guitarist and composer known for his unusual two-handed picking style, was found dead Tuesday morning following an automobile crash.

A work crew discovered his body in a wrecked 1986 BMW. Police said it appeared the car skidded off a curve and down a steep embankment a few days earlier.

  • gotta agree, kaki is near the bottom of the list of great guitarists/musicians!!!!!

  • Nobody compares to Michael!!! Kaki is one of my favorite LIVING guitarists but she is by no means the best or anything. She has a bunch of good songs but she isn't nearly as empassioned as Michael. No one is.

  • @johnjkeidel

yeah, definitely, michael was something else.. in that movie, autumn rush, the kid is playing this song, but it's really kaki king apparently.. and it made me cringe, lol, cos it was just destroyed.. not nearly as smooth and flowing, and maybe that's what kaki was going for, but one of the great things about this song is how smoothly it flows.. so yeah, kaki ruined it, heh

  • HELL NO SHE ISNT!!!! NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!! And if you ever met her, you would know why, she has the worst attitude of any guitarist i've ever met.....and there are FAR better acoustic players than her, pretty much anybody on candyrat records has more soul and passion in one hand than both of her's put together.

  • I saw Kaki King right after her big 1st performance on Letterman and man, it just didn't do it for me. Opening act Sonya Kitchell had waaay more feeling in her music. Kaki just can't compare. She plays music, Michael was the music.

  • c'mon guys dont be haters

i actually really really enjoy kaki's music, and whether or not shes a bitchy person doesn't concern my tastes for her soundscapes.

yea, what he said about her and michael wasn't a very thoughtful thing to say, but still, that doesn't mean it's time to bash kaki. she's a good musician, and if you listen to her albums, you'll see why. she has more to her than fingerstyle skill, she composes gorgeous arrangements with violins and other instruments as well

  • There is just so much stuff you can do with tunings and Hedges proves it..

  • this is a guy soooo missed!

  • I think this is the best version of Michael Hedges Ritual Dance

Amazing, 2nd song I learned how to play

  • Shit that must have been hard ay?...

  • Well playing the song is easy (mostly strumming bar chords and the like) But getting it perfect with all of those taps, the rhythm and playing it properly is damn hard.

  • That's what I meant :) Yeah even Hedges himself sometimes goes off rhythm a bit, when playing Ritual Dance...

  • And the first song was like smells like teen spirit or maybe smoke on the water? ;)

  • Lol, second Michael Hedges song, sorry. Maybe the 4th or 5th full song I learned.

  • lol omg me too. the 5th one i learned

  • The first song I learned on guitar was Beethoven's 5th Symphony. It's a good one to start on.

  • :D haha this is awesome

  • Fantastic

  • Yeah. August Rush ripped it off.

The kid fakes it pretty good too. but man.. it was soooo sappy/ stupid.

/Eric Clapton IS less of a musician.. alot less.

  • You're damn right, eric clapton is a huff

  • Kaki King is the one playing on August Rush...

  • and she does a damn good cover of it too.

  • yeah i know i just loved that movie and its soundtrack..

and i cant wait for Dreaming of Revenge......

  • Kaki King does a pretty decent cover of this song that I found on iTunes. Loving both her and Hedges, I had to download it. Apparently it's in August Rush. Haven't seen it, though.

  • Michael .. amazing .. always

    Guitarist

  • Michael makes Eric Clapton look really bad XD

  • He's a genius, but don't go saying stupid shit.

  • All I'm saying is that just because Michael Hedges is incredible doesn't mean that Eric Clapton is less of a musician. They are completely different musicians.

  • I didn't mean it in the sense that Michael is better -- I'm Eric's #1 fan, for christ's sake -- But Michael LITERALLY looks better than Eric when he plays, he's got more style and enthusiasm.

  • collll.....

    I love him

    mary from brasil

  • めっちゃええやん

  • i soo agree xD

  • He somehow managed to be precise and perfect in his playing but did it with wild happy abandon. Such an amazing artist and I will miss him forever.

  • A perfect description of the genius that was Michael Hedges. Amen.

  • its sad the world lost one of the most kick-ass, amazing guitar player ever...

  • The intracacies cannot be picked up by listening to this softly on your computer. Turn it up loud when you can, well the Cd has better sound quality but yeah if you can then you'll realize his greatness. I admittingly know nothing about the guitar but he never seems to strike the same note twice, it all very improvised each time its performed.

  • Michael was and still is the best ... peace Michael ... we miss you

  • talent beyond words

  • ....speetchless

  • the greatest guitarist of all times

  • it's as if Bob Ross picked up some neato white powder that was stuck in a plastic bag, decided hmm i should sniff this and grab the nearest hunk of wood with some coincedentally located rubber bands strung around it and beat the shit out of it

    j/k that was pretty neato

  • That was amazing.

  • Then you post a video.... douche bag....

  • i play beter even when i run

  • hmm im sure you can... asshole

  • he is fucking awesome, i wan't to here him team up with pink floyd and get beautiful keyboard/organ sounds behind him.

  • He was one with his instrument

  • MICHAEL HEDGES LIVES!!!

  • He defintely is the best. The guitar looks like to be a part of his body. He is missed!

  • why are we without Michael Hedges and Stevie Ray, and yet Jon Bon Jovi will live to be a million...? There's no justice on earth...

  • Damn right!

  • The Best

  • miss him so much

  • just amazing

  • he did this on a webcast one time and it was better if that is at all possible. simply mindblowing performer

  • His groove and dynamic control are ridiculous!

  • yeh rediculously good, the video and sound quality is rediculously bad though

  • i fucking love this track so much

  • can someone reply to me with the tuning on this one? thanks

  • DADGCC

  • I'm sorry, was I not clear before, SUCK MY HAIRY BALLS YOU LITTLE CUNT. How dare you insult Michael Hedges and the person posted this link. For christs sake the man is dead, have a little respect. And incase your a completely fucking moron ( which I assume you are) he was widely considered one of the greatest acoustic guitarists who ever lived.

  • My balls you stupid bitch

  • My favorite piece and i love his smirking smile.

Michael's music moves my heart & my feet, always!

  • Was fortunate enough to see him live when I was at KU in 1992. Amazing-best concert I've ever experienced! His comedy is funny too. Always sounded like there were 3-4 instruments while there was clearly only one, and he would sing too?! A rare talent that will be greatly missed.

  • No Kemo-michael hedges died in a car accident in i think 1994?? He actually grew up in the town I live in Enid Oklahoma. He attended college at the same school I go to now-there is a "michael hedges boulevard" I drive down it every day. He was amazing. RIP.

  • Fucking WOW!!!!

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • I was fortunate enough to see Michael Hedges perform at the Boulder theatre in CO,on a double bill and sharing the stage / evening with the equally amazing Michael Manring - it was truly magical and completely captivating.

  • Fuck you bitch. Do the world a favor and jump off a fucking cliff you ass-munching piece of shit.

    Suck on that levesque999

  • This piece is a favourite of mine. He was a great musician :)

  • having just discovered hedges only recently after my stepdads bass player mentioned i had elements of his styles in my playing from the slap harmonics and drone tunings in my first gig, and he has just blown my mind away, the styles he played could be so varied

  • Why advertise for him? That's retarded.

  • Thanks so much for posting all these Hedges vids. He continues to be an inspiration to me.

  • whoa ... hash dude!

First of all, the kid is pretty good all around.

    Second of all, shut up.

  • So awesome to see him in his element... An amazing artist taken way too soon. Thanks so much.

  • i had no idea...

  • michael is the best

  • Fantastic stuff. Thanks for sharing.

  • That's great. Thanks so much for sharing these videos!
