  • Division of Labour

  • I wouldn't say Kraftwerk shows are 'rare' these days, as far as I can gather from bits and pieces, Rolf has no intention of stopping live shows yet though it might be two years before we have a new album - but that's Kraftwerk for you. Thank god i've seen them twice. I don't care if they stand there and do nothing, the shows were amazing.

  • @ gehirnfrisur

  • how did you get this video?

  • I think a lot of peeps may have got it wrong about Kraftwerk here. They are the original "robot band", so you want to see them standing there emotionless and playing very 8-bit vocoder tunes. It's like MJ and his glove, Madonna and her pointy tits, Prodigy and their energy. It's part of the act, the whole ambience. They've always been quite mellow - they're not a dance act necessarily. They're influential, seminal, and deserve some respect even if you don't like the sounds / visuals.

  • I totally agree with you mrvertigo73. KW being, how do you say, mellow, robot-like IS what makes KW so unique. I'll say it again and again they are my 4 handsome men from Germany as well as talented. It's good to see they, like a lot of the bands I use to listen to in the 80's are still performing. :)

  • Why the fuck did you watch it then?

  • Tonight at EXIT FESTIVAL 2009!!!

  • 12 june 2009 Bucharest,Romania..Palace Hall...can`t wait!!!

  • ok... maybe the one standing left is playing tetris... the other one on the right is watching porn via wlan... the third is chattin' on icq ... and the last one is who has the song running on his notebook... while he plays online poker...? ;)

don't get me wrong... i'm just jokin. i respect kraftwerk since years... but nowadays u definetly don't need 4 guys with their notebooks playing such sound. ;)

it's ok that grandfathers of electronic music earn their money easy like that...

  • @gehirnfrisur best comment!

  • @gehirnfrisur every guy got 1 lane, ;) thats Division of Labour

  • Is THIS that you open Radiohead's concert? D'oh!

  • simply we love you

  • i love kraftwerk

  • 25.04.09 - Wolfsburg 23:59

    YESSSSS!!!!!!

  • thats a very narrow sighted comment to make. kraftwerk are legendary.. nuff said

  • 1980:A revolotion Music

    Today:Shit!

  • Shit Hot!!!!

    Coxynuma.66.

  • was an awesome festival, right next to a huge artificial lake and dam.

liamjones, this is kraftwerk, not your average joe who is djing for 3 days.

    this is what they do.

  • they just stand there looking into those laptops.. no crowd interaction what so ever.. very boring for me! so im glad above and beyond have a 3 hour set so i dont have to put up with it

  • what keyboards are they using? are they analog?

  • I believe it's all digital, as their always talking about how they ported everything to the digital studio. But they still use their analog stuff, allthough not on gigs. Then again, I could be completely wrong as I'm only guessing :(

  • ahhh, ok thanks. it does look like they ahve soem keyboards behind their laptops, but i could be wrong too!

  • Yourie right if it was all analog ger the entire stage would be full of stacks of equipment, and they'd never be able to play this set list

  • They definitely do not use analogs. All analog stuff is in the magazine, ready to use but they know that it will not happen ;).

  • I think the keyboards are custom built by Doepfer amd they also use;

    - 4 Sony VAIO laptops

    - Cubase SX sofware

  • i wish they went old school. i love their old stuff. tour de france didnt float my boat :(

  • yes is good ya

  • "WE LOVE YOU!"

  • i was there and it was sooooooo awesome!!!!

  • Is minimum-maximum album is good?

  • what the fuck!!!!!!

  • what do you make of this?

  • Can anyone tell me what their actuley seeing on their screen? or what their actuley doing as its mostly ready made sounds right? *hopes their playing solitare*

  • They're running a program called Cubase which controls MIDI in each individual station. What they do is add to whats already there where they see fit. In Ralf's words: "We sometimes think 'I'm going to intervene here'" Ralf controls melody, Henning and Fritz change the output, and Florian controls sound effects

  • Cubase, really? Why not a program for professionals, like Protools or even Logic?

  • You ever tried recording something on Cubase? Trying to make something even resembling a song is an effort, lol

  • ... What's your point?

  • Well you said "Why not a program for professionals", and Cubase doesnt exactly accomodate beginners.

  • Cubase is an entry-level music making program. While it is sufficient in many situations (especially when coupled with proper external patches), it simply hasn't got anything on, say, ProTools. (I don't count crap like ejay and magix, simply because those programs are mainly for copy-paste operations)

  • Whats important is that the music is good, not how advanced the program you use is.

  • The program sets the limitations of what you can do. Kraftwerk wouldn't settle for second best - why should they? And since they are very unlikely to use Cubase in a studio recording session, why would they use it in a live performance? It just doesn't make sense.

  • Check their credits in the minimum-maximum album booklet... they mention just about any manufacturer of music software. Given the fact they probably get to test drive most of them... I'm sure they take the right tool for the right job, and I'd be surprised if cubase isn't one of those tools in some cases.

  • only boring to a simple brain devoid of any musical knowledge.

  • Kling Klang indeed!

  • Kling Klang

  • kraftwerk has to be about the most repetitive band ever

  • was this indoor or outdoor?

  • outdoor

  • Wow. Love the graphics for this show.

  • is this a soundboard recording? this is fucking awesome sound!

  • especially the sound was very very very good at that gig. normally on festivals, the organizers find a compromise that fits on all bands of a festival. but this one was something other. it was VERY loud, but also it didn't hurt and it was very clear. no idea how they did that. i think that is the reason why it worked quite well for the camera. but u weren't allowed to film there...securities all around...no idea how he did that.

  • do you have this on DVD?

  • i like that guy screaming. i'd probably do so myself if i would go to a kraftwerk concert. unfortunately, we never had one in romania :((

  • pioneers in there field, after gettin the man machine album 20 years ago i love em,still goin strong today awesome!!

  • I bought Die mensch maschine album for this song. That's greatest song of Kraftwerk.

  • kraftwerk having a 2007 - 2008 tour??

  • I fucking hope so!

  • best one yet

  • Awesome.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing!

  • from someone who is in the states, i appreciate you taking the time to post this! i have NEVER EVER seen kraftwerk live or any of their videos.. but i have just about every track they have ever released. these cats and the art of noise rock! thanks again!!! this video was clean and clear which makes it thata much better...

  • GEIL!!!

  • Kraftwerk has the best live special effects of any band, and a refreshing break from the now all to often unoriginal recycled music videos of today.

  • these guys invented modern electronic music and have inspired countless bands in many geners, good to see them still performing live.

  • I saw them too this past saturday at M2 Indoor Festival in Zaragoza (Spain). Check out my videos ;)

    Cheers!
