Nicely done as are all of your vids. I like the version of Nail that Catfish especially. And what was the great tune in the middle? I must learn that one!
Thanks. We go to Celtic Colours every other year or so -- hope we see you on stage one of these times -- you are certainly good enough. But its a long ways away to travel of course. We drove across BC on our way to Alaska last spring and ski Whistler when possible --- BC is a treasure on earth.
Hi, thanks for your comments! The tune after Catfish is Don Messer's "Breakdown". We would love to perform at Celtic Colours, in fact, we'll be sending our information to the artistic director so maybe next year we'll be there. Qristina & Quinn
I wish i could have gotten along with my sister to play music with her, although it would have been reversed her on guitar and me playin my fiddle. Good Qristina & Quinn I quite enjoy your music and i'd like to say i play by ear and i learned Turkey in the straw by listioning to their Fiddle - Sailor's Hornpipe, Oh Susanna, Turkey in the Straw video.
The fiddler plays wonderfully! It's a somewhat more refined style than the Appalachian, with very nice ornamentation that gives it a little bit of a classical or European sound. Can you tell us where these musicians are from (I'm guessing somewhere from Eastern Canada)?
Hi, we're from the West Coast, we live in Victoria, British Columbia. We are Qristina & Quinn Bachand and this is our youtube channel. Thanks for your good comments! Qristina
Nail that Catfish isn't a tune from Appalachia. Steve Rosen (who lives in Chicago when he's not somewhere else fishing) wrote that tune back when he was a member of the Volo Bogtrotters.
Yes, you're right, we should change the comments on the video, a fiddle teacher taught us this tune years ago and called it an Appalachian tune. We have since then spoken with Steve Rosen and realize that it isn't. In fact, the story of how the tune got is name is rather funny. Thanks for the heads up on our misrepresentation... will make that correction...
Hi, it's taking a real long time, it's a big project and we want to do a good job. We are closer though, and hope to have a CD with at least 12 tracks on it, by end of March... stay tuned .... :) Q & Q
Wonderful! Love your versions of Catfish, and St. Annes.. question please... looks like you have somthing attached to the top end of your bow???
If so, what is it and why? Is it to give a bit more weight to the bow? I ask becouse one of my bows drives me crazy bouncing at times as it seems too light on the end.
Hi there :) Another wonderful 15 minutes watching your latest uploads ... pleeeeeeeeease consider making a tutorial or two ... keep it up ... Martyn and Catherine
