I discovered this gem 3 years ago....here....And I've been playing it ever since....Glad to hear it got some radio play in Canada. None in the U S....
@pilot9781 It's a hauntingly beautiful ballad and in my opinion it's one of his best. It isn't new; it was released in 1980 and got a lot of airplay in his (and my) native Canada.
@Tartarus1969 Yeah, when I was in Canada, I made sure I found the album it came from (Woman Love from 1980), that album was never printed in the U S. Our loss.
One of the world's few perfect songs. I looked for this song all through my teens and 20s. Album wasn't re-released till I was about 30. Sure was great to hear it again. And it's nicely done here. :)
I first heard this song on the radio, coming back from the hospital. My father had just died, no warning, nothing. This song was so appropriate, living with the ghost of you. Since then, four more people I deeply cared for passed away and this song has become even more poignant. I never thought I would see it on youtube, as I never thought anyone else could see the beauty and genius in this song. Thanks for posting 'cause, for me, there isn't anything to return to', now that they are gone.
Wow....I'm an old man and dont remember this tune .....excellent....could have had a few more notches on the bedpost with this tune in my repitoire.....LOL
I think I'm going to get kicked off this site for listening to this song so many times, it's just so beautiful, his voice, so smooth, sexy, controlled, sexy, (did I say sexy?)....uhhh,.....I'm taken away....lifted...
I grew up 4 blocks from where Burton and Randy used to practice in Winnipeg 1964-65, Polo Park shopping centre. I watched them every weekend when they were just getting started. The dexterity comes out in his ballads. He can rock, but this is to beautiful for words.
My Cousin still hangs with Burton in the peg on a regular basis. She knows them from her younger days in the Park pool hall on Osborne Street. Amazing talent!!!
My older sister (16) used to dress me up to make me look older and take me to the Fort William Gardens in (guess where) Fort William (now Thunder Bay) and we used to see them for a dollar. Waaaay back when they were just getting started...before These Eyes....
Took in the Bachman /Cummings concert. I was absolutely taken by the chemistry these 2 still exude after 40 years. It took me back to better time in life even just for a small moment. What a fabulous evening with 2 of the best Canadian artists ever!!!!!!!! Thanks for the memories Randy and Burton!!!
I scored row 2 on the floor at Rexall here in Edmonton for the Bachman Cummings concert here in June. I can hardly wait. They are a very rare Canadian talents still performing!!!
I've been listening to Burton Cummings since the early sixties before they were the Guess Who when they played on CBC during the weekdays and if I remember correctly were on Wednesdays. Burton's voice is so clear and unbeatable no matter what he sings.
I used to have every Burton recording, and always attended any concert I could. I'm much older now, but still just love listening to his voice. This piece is one of his best. He should stick to the slow stuff, he is not meant to be a rocker.
He most certainly was meant to be a rocker and any other style of music you can think of. He has one of the most iconic, unique and versatile voices in the world. I enjoy whatever style he sings and that most certainly includes rock. To say that Burton is not meant to be a rocker is like saying Wayne Gretzky was not meant to be a hockey player.

Definitely one of Burts best. But there are so many.
I think my favorite of the solo years is A Fine State of Affairs from the same album.
I like Just About Sane from Bachman Cummings a whole lot and Don't Talk to Him.
We Just Came From the USA from the new solo is great too. Almost a little AC/DC thing going on there with backing vocals.
And I like Turn Around and Walk Away, Til We Kissed and ... (ooops, sorry Burt).

Now this is music as it is supposed to be!
Burton has one of the most beautiful voices in all of rock and pop music. Virtually timeless. And, he writes and composes all!!!
Try that today. Impossible.
Thanks for the heads up from "Medly" w/ Randy and Manhattan Transfer.
