  • @RadioTodd

Already Bought it. :) I was just pointing out that It didn't hit US when it first came out because of their Hiatus.

  • Sounds like Fry from Futurama. Honestly, third favorite show. Here are my favorites: Sonic X second (respect the hedgehog, I am a fan, and I am a huge enough fan that I can ignore certain aspects), and King of the Hill second (Mike Judge made good stuff), and Regular Show is a tie for second. BTW, Bowling for Soup knows this band, they got the rights to the song, and they made the better COVER. That concludes my comment compilation with 35 characters remaining.

  • Both versions are amazing ;D although SR-71's version sounds better to me, but I just like bowling for soup better :)

  • Bowling for soup sings this. you fucken idiot

  • @WannabePunk1989 sr-71 sang it first

  • @WannabePunk1989 one, its "fucking* idiot", learn to spell smart ass. and no. Sr-71 recorded this song a year before Bowling For Soup. The two lead singers are friends and they talked about the cover. So...uhm....yea.....youre wrong

  • @WannabePunk1989

Yes they sang it but didn't write it. SR-71 from Baltimore wrote and performed it well before they gave it to Bowling For Soup. Mich and John from SR-71 made some good money from that. You are 100% WRONG. I know Mitch, I am from Baltimore and I worked in the radio industry. So before you go calling people idiots do your homework DOUCHEBAG!

  • @WannabePunk1989 It's a cover by SR-71 You dumb cunt!

  • @WannabePunk1989 .....lol they covered it

  • @WannabePunk1989 they made it first and then gave it to bowling for soup sooooo yeah

  • @WannabePunk1989 ........Bfs covered it... you "fucken idiot"

  • HAHAHAHA IS THAT FRY FROM FUTUREAMA XD

  • @Fumples I don't ever recall seeing a Physical copy of it available for purchase. I think it was download only.

  • @namataki

You can buy SR-71's third CD now here. It was only available in Japan for many years.

  • @Fumples I did say ROUGHLY. The album actually got a US release in 2005, but It definitely didn't get much groundswell and proper rating till after their Hiatus ended.

  • You guys do know that Jeret Reddick and Mitch Allan are like Best Friends? SR-71 wrote this song FOR Bowling for Soup. 1985 was first released on their album "Here We Go Again" in 2004. The album never hit public release until around 2010 though.

  • @namataki then why was this video posted in 2008....

  • @namataki bullshit!

  • This is the song that got me into Bowling for Soup, and finding out it's not theirs is kind of the equivalent of when Columbus found out the world wasn't flat.

Whatever. Their other songs are better anyway.

  • @VanillaWiteOut totally agree with you.

  • It's always weird how bands that cover songs get more popular than the original.

  • 34 people like Bowling for Soup's version better.

THAT IS STUPID ;(! SR-71 is better...:(

  • For those of you who dont know, Mitch Allan of SR-71 originally wrote this song and gave it to Jaret of Bowling for Soup to use as his own

  • @ToXiiCrAiiNHD I know Mitch :) not to be rude..

  • 1985

  • i like bowling for soup version

  • Of course Jaret would bump it up an octave with his voice. Never heard this version, but I like it.

  • If you do a cover better than the original, then you deserve some credit. Just saying, listen to something like Sister Christian, the original song is pretty meh, but covers of it have surfaced, nearly all of them are superior. Should the inferior Night Ranger version get playtime, while someone else improved it heavily?

  • I like this version just as much as BFS's. It's always a shame to see someone else get recognized for someone else's song, but that's the way of the world. Both of these bands still rock, though.

  • This one is the original.. Bowling For Soup made a cover.. it was written by Mitch Allan and he did the background vocals for the BFS version.. he also appeared in the music video. In my opinion, both versions rock!

  • @Hrvo182 I thought Jaret Reddick co-wrote it with Mitch Allan and John Allen.

  • @rpmangin Okay, maybe Reddick just changed some lyrics, so he got a songwriting credit for the BFS version.

  • SR 71 wrote the song for BFS I believe.

  • SR-71 just leave bowling for soup use the song but the original song is from SR71

  • BFS <3

  • so, SR71s version is the original??

  • dude, check out Bowling for soup - 1985

    it's the same ;p

Bowling for soup has to be arrested ;p

  • Actually, the "SR-71" Version was recorded in 2003 and released in Japan in May of 2004. Yes, this entire album was not released in the US until 2010. So, "SR-71" wrote, recorded, and released "1985" before "Bowling for Soup."

  • Love this song

  • Everyone's talking about "I prefer the original" and so on, so kids! Come, Sit Around the Youtube video and I'll tell you a story:

SR-71 was the band that wrote the song and perform it live, however, they were not the first band to release a studio recording of it. Bowling For Soup was. The success of it was surprising to SR-71 so they then recorded it putting it on their 2004 release "Here We Go Again" - Same thing with Love Is The Answer by Weezer. Sugar Ray studio recorded it before them.

  • @variery Actually, the SR-71 album with this on came out in May of 2004 and then Bowling For Soup covered it and released it in July of the same year, with the album coming out in Septemeber.

  • HE SOUNDS LIKE FRY FROM FUTUREAMA!

  • @MrDoctorNintendo I can't unhear it!

  • @MrDoctorNintendo Futurama* and no he doesnt. LIES.

  • @MrDoctorNintendo Oh damn, you're right. LOL

  • @MrDoctorNintendo so does the right now video and leela hope she falls in love that time!

  • I grew up with Bowling for Soup's version. I've gotta say that it was better

  • Covers are because the band that's covering it loves the song. As simple as that. No reason to fight.

  • @Zeroprobabilityvids Actually, SR-71 wrote this song! And they gave the song to Bowling For Soup. It's on Wikipedia [;

  • @OceanWaterNine I know, I was talking about how a lot of ppl blame Bowling For soup for ripping the song off. (which isnt true, as you just mentioned)

  • @Zeroprobabilityvids Oooooooh. Hahah c; <3 SR-71

  • SR-71's lead is friends with Jaret from BFS. I prefer this version just for 'THE RUBBER BROKE' haha. Great.

  • @lolj4 i know! i never listen to the bfs version just because it doesn't have that part

  • "Her rubber broke!"

  • @kwzz ha, favorite part. i always scream that part at the top of my lungs

  • I like SR-71 but honestly Bowling for Soup did make this song better and it wasnt their only fame ticket

I know perfectly well that SR-71 wrote this song but some covers are just better and you have to let it go and just listen to the music.

Real Punk is not caring bout anyone elses opinion.

    END OF STORY

  • is it madonna? or am i wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • "the rubber broke!" hahaha :3

  • Oh wow. Even after hearing this now for the first time, this is my favourite version.

  • thats cheap that bfs covered this...sr71 is awesome they deserve more fame

  • tihs is bowling for soup not sr 71

  • @Dusan0098

    you are stupid???-.-'' --->sr 71!

  • @marcosmeio SEARCH 1985

  • @Dusan0098 SEARCH 1985

  • @Dusan0098 Dude, BFS covered SR-71, and both bands have stories about how it happened. XD Each said the other offered to cover/be covered.

  • @Dusan0098 it's sr 71. bowling for soup did this over. but it's originally sr 71

  • I love how BFS put the lead singer of SR-71 in their video for this. Awesomeness!

  • Figures some idiot would think Black ops has something to to with this.. I swear anything to do with CoD and the tards start thinking everythings ripped from it.

  • I thought the BFS version of this was the original. Oh well, this version still rocks!

  • i played both version at the same time and they sound the same (as in the singer

  • i think this version better

  • SR-71! Black Bird/Black Ops cowinkidink

  • @shelbyrayoflight not even?

  • @shelbyrayoflight no

this band was here long before black ops

they names themselves after the SR-71 Blackbird

Black Ops simply uses it as a killstreak

  • @shelbyrayoflight ... fucking drown yourself.

  • Bowling For Soup owns the song, but SR-71 wrote it for them, so there really isn't any difference between the songs. Quit bitching about which band performs it better people.

  • Theyre kinda similar. I like BFS's version better. :\ They arent that different though.

  • 666 "I like"...WTF?!?!?!?!?

  • bfs is way better but its good to hear the original

  • wait......THIS IS THE ORIGINAL??

  • bowling for soup version is better but this is ok 2

  • Swear to god this is my mom.

  • 30 People are still in 1985, Stupid bitches.

  • SR-71 seem great but I have to say I prefer Bowling for Soups version.

  • The Rubber Broke! Ahahahahaha too funny

  • looove this!!

  • huh, I didn't know this was the original. I don't care either way, I like both versions. I was gonna say I like the way SR-71 changed the lyrics, but I guess it's the other way around :)

  • THE RUBBER BROKE

  • i cant decide bowling for S or sr71 witch is better o.o help me

  • @punkster678 If You Want To Know Don't Ask Others Its Your Opinion That Counts To Yourself...

Try This Put SR-71:1985 And Bowling For Soup:1985 In Your Playlist And Listen To Them Again And Again And You'll Get Your Answer.... ;3

  • best version ever

  • I love this its like a remixed version of the original O_O both are brilliant.

  • @SwartzBruder But this IS the original.

  • so bowling for soup didnt sing this first

  • @nicklas12345667 nah man, the voice is way different

  • @SwartzBruder this is the original version

  • @SwartzBruder this is the original --

  • 30 people died in 1985.........

  • @sum41fan3434 then how did they hit the dislike button?

  • @bowlama7 ther bodies came back up from the grave

    LOL! i have no idea

  • Both versions are great.

  • A few of the lyrics are different from the Bowling for Soup version, but I like this one too!

Is this the original or a cover??

  • @queenado original

  • @queenado this is the original

  • @queenado this is the original

  • I kinda like this version better :O

  • @AtlLoverShazz of course you like it better, it's the original one --

  • different sounding from the more well know bowling for soup version... but i like it. original and cover are equals in my opinion. (and yes i know this one is the original)

  • i didn't know this was the original.. i prefer bfs's version but still love this one.. around 40/60 i'd say:L

  • The Bowling For Soup version has better insturmentals, but this one is easier to understand.

  • @emojoe2

agreed. i can actually understand some of the really fast lines from soup's version (such as "never knew george was gay hope theyd hook up one day")

  • and i actually just listened to the bowling for soup one and realized a few lines are totally different. both are still awesome tho

  • You know its a good video when people are to distracted by the music to post how much they hate Justin Bieber. To bad I am here huh ^-^ Justin Bieber is horrible and stuff!

  • @zabuzamomochi112345 lol, thn u must listen 2 rucka rucka ali's justin beaver vids

  • mitch allan says it best

  • I've never heard the original. This is actually not bad at all.

  • Really interesting to hear the original as, like many, I heard the Bowling For Soup version before this. That version is a great commercial production, ideal for grabbing your attention on the radio or MTV, and the video is hilarious, especially the Robert Palmer parody, but I like this too. It has such a great melody and lyrics that it simply benefits from being played and heard from two different perspectives. 1985, 1985, so good they recorded it twice!

  • i like bowling for soups version alil better than this one but still this one can kick ass :)

  • The original is a much much better version,

  • @addi1900 this is the original

  • @addi1900 this is the original --

  • Sorry, but I like BFS and their version better, no offence to SR-71.

  • @Dvheereveld This version is far better and heavier.

  • @8gerrard8

As we would say in Holland : 'Smaken verschillen' or in english i think 'tastes differ'.

  • this is a bit diffrent frm Bowling For Soup but its like idk diffrent stuff ya no wat i mean...........Gorge is gay lol :3

  • WTF the Bowling For Soup version sounds just the same wtfff.

  • @FreshNapp they do. but a few of the lyrics are different

  • Original is the best! Go MD!

  • @carney scrub lol blowing for soup you mean they hung around the street like hobos and gave out blow jobs for soup?

  • all i know is BFS version is better x100

  • NINETEEN EIGHTY FUCKING FIVE.

    c:

  • I like bowling for soups version better

  • Never kn ew George was gay. Thought they'd hook up one day! XD I love George Michael :)

  • I like bowling for soup BETTER!

  • I'm not sure which version I like best, the original or the BFS cover.

  • damn this sounds cool :)

  • You guys confuse me.

  • @GreenDayPunkChick Mitch Allen (The lead singer) wrote the song. BFS wanted to a cover, which ended up more popular then this ever was, leaving ppl to think BFS were the original song.

  • Is this a cover, or the original song?

  • @YODAWGITSMINE not a cover dumbass

  • @GreenDayPunkChick no its the original,

  • @REKCOR18 Someone else said it was a cover. Arrrrgh. I'm so confused. Is B.F.S. The originals?

  • I herd this song from Roper

  • isnt SR-71 and bowling for soup the same people cause not just the singer but if you listen to the guitar and the drums they sound the same or at least have an almost exact same sound can someone plz clear this up for me

  • @litchkingwolf3 nah there not the same they just have simular style plus both bands are really good friends so youll hear BFS singer on some of sr 71 s videos

  • @litchkingwolf3 they are completely different people xD watch their music vids if you are unsure still I've seen bowling for soup live and they sound completely different from SR-71 but Chris from bowling for soup does know SR-71

  • Bands like SR-71 - Fenix Tx, BFS , Simple Plan and Blink 182 (:

  • @123NDay Simple Plan sucked
