This is NOT a real incident.

The floor is SMOOTH and permit to the car to slide easily dissipating more energy then if it was asphalt as it is in the streets.

They use a smooth floor to give you an idea of higher idea of safety on the one you would have on streets.

Why they use a smooth SLIDING floor instead asphalt ad it is on the asphalt?

If the paramaters of the test are common for all cars tested than the safety index value which is basically a comparison of safety across all cars tested, is fair.

Toyota is far from a bad import. They are very reliable and safe cars. I owned a brand new 2008 nissan patrol and I had nothing but problems. I sold it a year later and replaced a lot of parts in it.

I own a toyota hilux now and use it for hauling. It's epic!

Only thing I question about side curtain airbags is will it protect you from the glass flying in underneath it? In this video, the driver looks like his throat has a nice chance of being slashed and neck cut from all the incoming broken glass and debres.

That's why safety glass is tempered and not plate glass. You could receive glass fragments, but no serious slicing.

Remember this test is considering and SUV hitting the car, not other similar or smaller car hitting the test car. Side impacts are the worst ones, since the weakest part of any car are the doors.
