i think both this version and the 1989 episode are both great, this ones simple but very creepy but the 1989 version is more over the top but so much fun
I love the look of satisfaction on " Santa's" face, when he knows he doesn't have to trouble himself too much. Joan was a very underrated actress and she was pregnant when she filmed this segment of TFTC.
As Joan joked " Its getting harder & harder to murder your husband".
That daughter is a creepy little bitch. Poor girl being made an orphan at Christmas, '72 wasn't a great Christmas for her-was it?
Not only is killing your husband on Christmas Eve with your own child upstairs bad enough, opening your X-mas gift before Christmas is a deadly no no. No wonder Santa got mad and killed Joan.(^_^)^_~
I remember seeing this at the local theatre back in the day. Love the 70s decor and Joan Collins is absolutely smokin' in this! Much better than HBO remake. That one had too much humor for my taste. Thanks for posting it!
Nice crescent/star hat. Not the first thing that comes to mind during 'CHRISTmas' holidays. Can't say I've ever seen one on any Christmas tree either...
Old fat men with any kind of decent money should never marry a beautiful, much younger wife if they ever want to make it to their next birthday. What's wrong with these guys??!!?
@joancollins54 The second "CAROL' in "All through the House" is "Once in Royal David's City." I had a hard time trying to find the name of my favorite carol and one of the commenters said it is by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. So I went to Amazon(dot)com and searched through MTC Christmas albums and listened to the samples of each of their choruses--wallah!--and I found the right melody and the right title. You should if you are ever stumped!
Ahhh suspension of disbelief! Why wouldn't she just have called the cops and said the santa killed her husband? Ohhh no! Haha I love these 70's movies!
Fantastic. I much prefer this to the TV version from 1989. Joan Collins plays it with more quiet subtlety, rather than Mary Ellen Trainor's screaming and mad-eyed demonic facial expressions lol. I found myself rooting for Joan in this version, but disliking Mary too much to care if Santa got her or not! In fact I was kind of rooting for Santa in the 1989 version! The end reveal is also much more enexpected here. Seeing Santa climb into the house in the other one just killed the suspense for me.
Have to be honest, after seeing the HBO version first- doesn't everyone think it's scarier when the woman doesn't know the killer is on the loose? Will say this for '72, the Carol door reveal is scarier than the Carrie window reveal in '89. But again, for '89 - the ax is way better than bare-hands. As for Santa, this guy is creepier than Larry Drake, but he lacks the slow motion of really creepy killers (like Michael Myers). This one's much nastier but Mary Ellen Trainor was more entertaining.
I prefer the horror maxim that bad things happen to bad people over the bad things happen randomly to dumb horny teenagers. Nothing to do with morals - it's just more satisfying to watch. Must go find some Stephanie Beacham after this.
Nice one Joan. Merry Xmas to you too!. The info says that "Saucy Joan is a murderess strumpet who wallops her husband to death & is then beseiged by a homicidal maniac dressed as Santa Claus". Sounds great!. Pity we can't watch it all!.
jeezus ..and what a totally unconvincing strangulation at the end..destroys any fear factor whatsoever. Please remake this movie with realistic acting and effects..but don't fuck up the script in typical Hollywood remake fashion please.
poor old guy.. that's what you get for marrying hot young flesh, they only want yer money. still...hope he got some good fucks out of her before she did him in.
this is an excellent 70's film from the amicus studios . they excelled in making anthologies were there were several short stories in the main film . other amicus films to look out for are .. / the vault of horror / doctor terrors house of horrors / the house that dripped blood / torture garden /
Such a great little story for the night before Christmas! Joan picked an odd time to dispose of her hubbie! Love the way how we get a selection of Carols, too, from the best of the Amicus films.
wOW SHE LOOKED SOO MUCH LIKE MY LATE mOM AND NOT THE BARGAIN BASKET VERSION OHH ANS MY MOM HADMORE HEART REAL I FEEL SORRY FOR HER KIDS OMG SHE MARRIED THAT YOUNG WHATEVER HE btw I loVE
I remember my parents taking our whole family to the drive in to see this movie in 1972. I was only eight years old. This and the episodes in the movie scared the crap out of me! I remember it like yesterday! This is to awesome to watch it on Youtube!!!

i'm 17. i watched this when i was really young and it has been stuck in my head since. it makes me very, very scared about men dressed as santa. it doesn't help that both my parents are mentally ill and sometimes i picture them doing this kind of thing.
it's great though. the best tales of a crypt thing.

I'll bet if you go ask 10 long-time fans of this movie (not your friends, just random fans) what they think, you will see my opinion is likely going to be the majority.
I went to go see this movie in the drive-in, we never saw disney or cartoons, dad liked to take up to the scary ones, thanks for posting.. brought back all those childhood fears and memories

Actually, it's the first time I ever had this stupid "argument." I don't even realize why it's an argument in the first place, since THE MOVIE MAKES IT DAMN CLEAR THEY'RE ABOUT TO ENTER HELL FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
PS - Yes, I misspelled two words. Oh, the tragedy!

You've got some ego problems, sweetie.
I'll bet if you go ask 10 long-time fans of this movie (not your friends, just random fans) what they think, you will see my opinion is likely going to be the majority.
